Best looking (opinion) most reliable (fact) highest wuality 4ws ever(fact) These were built for strength, if you got one, and took care of it it will do 400k miles. Id love one of these, it is my dream vehicle. Sadly, their rare and expensive.

@One3teen ih i have one it an 85 4x4 long box..great truck had to do so lots of body work to it but its the best..my dad had the 88 he was a little bit above 400k when the frame cracked down the high way..go toyota
Torque was what people sought in a 4WD vehicle back then, not horsepower. This was at a time when around 120 pound-feet of torque in a vehicle in that weight-class was respectable. My 1987 4x4, equipped with the 22R (carbureted) engine never was a speed demon, but was an amazing puller, both of itself, and of stuck vehicles, back in its day. It's pretty tired now, but still gets driven several times a week, despite its approximately 400K miles (it's been mine since new.)

I know a guy down the street and he has a truck like this, and it has over 600,000 miles on it and it has had no problems... Gotta love them Toyotas!

the 22re is an extremely underpowered but very reliable motor. The turbo did actually give it some power.
