  • Great fuckin video! ;)

  • Ha ha zombies! Love that blade. I'm probably too late but I WANT IT! Why? Because of the M.B. stamp that's why. Would love to finish it

  • i want it and i want it cuz i think im gonna be good cuz i like doing things like this cuz its so mush fun and its a good reword

  • thats a big knife out of a smal fiell

  • Why not leave the tang that was already there on the file instead of doing another?? If you said why I missed it , thanks , Kirby

  • @shortfusedleathernk The tang that was on the file before had broken off.

  • "Yeah I'm wearing my gloves, wearing my glasses, Stop giving me hard times"

    Hahahah you're the man LOL

Nevermind if the contest is over

    I definitly subscribed : )

  • haha just curious were you drunk?

  • @Infantrymyers hardly a day goes by when I'm not!

  • i would like it because i would like it.. it be a bush craft knife

  • a tip: reheat the file to make him flexibel

  • Is file steel similar to railroad spike steel?

  • @hoshnasi more carbon in a file not all railroad spikes are the same it varies as much as rebar does

  • oh and because im only a few hundred miles away in ontario

    Josh

  • i would like it because i would finish the blade to a neo tribal finish and make wrought iron guard and pommel with a stacked leather bone antler and wood handle.... 14 yr old blacksmith here lol

    Josh

  • I'd definitely heat treat that thing.

after it had been heat treated I would try to remove any uneven surfaces as much as possible, then I would polished it, after that I would colored the back black and made the edge part as shiny as possible, then I would sharpen it until it can cut through tatami.

I would probably finnish with a white handle, possibly coroing the handle dark brown.

  • damn I want that

  • I would finish the blade and it would go grate will curient fill knife

  • and if i found a snake i would be able to chop its head off and eat it so i wont die of starvation

  • i would love to finish that knife so when i go hunting i can test it out and if i get lost i will be able to stay alive

  • Hi Dan (and everyone else)! I would finish and use this knife when I am particpating in a medieval and roman recreation groups. Too often I find myself in a situation where I need a medium sized blade to help with trimming ropes and leather hides as we setup camp, or as I work on a project at home in my work shop. While an xacto or bowie would normally work well, they just look out of place with our medieval clothing. Dan, we all love to watch your work and to hear your thoughts!

  • I would use THE FACES OF MY ENEMIES AS A CUTTING BOARD.

  • Well, i would use this knife everyday. I would use THE FACES OF MY ENEMIES AS A CUTTING BOARD.

Also depending on the durability im a knife throwing fanatic.

  • I am giving my hand made knife to "SebagoSteve" for offering me and my wife free tickets to the PathFinder School gathering. I can't take the time off so I had to refuse the $400 tickets. I am sending him my best knife either way. It would be awesome to replace my one of a kind razor sharp high carbon hunting knife with one from you. If I get the knife I will put some serious work into it and use some exotic hand made scales. I hope Sebago does not see this posting, the gift is a secret.

  • @ImRamro good luck :D

  • Really cool knife Dan, Did the file you used around 12:50 get ruined since it was (I'm guessing) the same grade of high carbon steel as the knife?

  • @samdurnford nope, as the steel had been heated and not quenched it was a level lower in hardness would be better to use a finer file on harder materials though.

  • Theres a nice piece of Epay and an old brass hinge out in my shop that would go nice with that bad boy ...I have a bow, some firearms and even reloading equipment for some extra bullets...... what I don't have is a good size, sturdy knife for taking off zombie heads. I hear that is what ya gotta do or they just keep coming. Just sayin'

  • i tell ya tang is pretty gud with that bacardi..n a little twisted green thang...I aint never liked doin that ta my old rasps...got a ton a em from shoein horse...BTW nice spark test video....

  • I'd like it because i am planning to start blacksmithing, and this would be a nice project to work on for my first project. I am also a good woodworker so it'd be neat to see what kind of handle i can put on it and such. So overall, it'd be a nice first blacksmith project, and a nice woodworking project to. Thanks for your time and consideration, :)

  • @DontPutSpiceonRice awesome you're on the list!

  • @DontPutSpiceonRice good luck :)

  • @CCSinventions Thanks, you to :)

  • I would like the knife because when im in my shop im always looking for something to cut something and never can find one and my cheapy scissors always get broken so i think that knife would be extremely useful. thanks for your consideration

  • @CCSinventions ok you're in the running

  • @modernblacksmith Thanks man!

  • @modernblacksmith btw i am a begginer blacksmith and have made a few projects

  • @modernblacksmith I think CCSInventions should get it too :D Mostly because more then one person would have a use for it... since I work in his shop a lot...

  • For the zombie thing.... Isn't it crossbow? And there's already zombies in the u.s.... Lol. But yeah it'd be great to have a project to work on in my new forge

  • @SuperTrackstar22 well, I already have a bow that's why....you're on the list

  • screw that ,,,no pay no play

  • @braedinn really, I couldn't believe they wouldn't pay anything! (just expenses and a trophy)

  • @fruntcasteryou can have the strip,,i'll take the bottle

  • was thinkin bout it,,,but i am too commited with other ventures

  • ya ever hear anythin back from dicovery?

  • @braedinn nope, guess i didn't make it again! (it wasn't a paying gig anyway)

  • yeah,,, i got a ! inch and a 4 inch,, but i do alot of hand work,,,i am patient and i think it provides better control

  • by the way,,nice job on forgin it and gettin someone else ta do the boring shit,,,hahahahahaaaa i could forge knioves all day long happily,,,,finishing them are the bitch

  • @braedinn honestly if I had a proper belt grinder i would do it, you know how difficult it is to do a fabulous job without one....

  • #1 yup dan,,,I would love ta finish that knife,,,but send it back,,,would be a great collaberation I think,,,I am finishing up a 1095 and 15n20 pattern welded drop point camp knife now,,,email me and i will send ya pics,,,I got hours a vid on making it but waiting till it's done ta edit them all together,,,you the man!
