I love how all the video elements come together at the end: The gas level on E, the pumps, the band and the girl all together in the desert. Classic 80's video format.
@CrueLoaf Actually, this song came out the same year as ZZ Top's Eliminator album (the one with the videos of the cool car & girls) so it's hard tosay whether Loverboy was influenced by them or not. The 2 bands did tour together briefly though in the early 80's so who really knows?
If I could have one wish, it would be to bring REAL music back onto the scene. I fucking hate the fact that I got stuck being born in the 90's! They were a great time to be a kid, though. Back when cartoons didn't suck ass as much as music marketed toward teens these days.

The image of Mike Renos red leather pants have "burned" an everlasting memory of all the hard rockin dudes of the US. Long live cheesy-gAY ROCK! LOL. I wrote this song for Mike Reno back in 82'. I said, "Hey, slapnuts! When you're done tying that bandana around your big fat head...come over here and check out these lyrics. " Reno, ever the prima donna, looked at me glad handed his codpiece and said, "Yo, cowboy...I'm Mike Reno of Loverboy...watch your mouth." It was then that me and my good buddy Chuck Norris attacked Reno with a full barrage of old school Karate kicks and a flurry of Lyle Alzado forearm shivers.
Back When This Came Out There Was Nobody And I Mean Nobody Who Didn't Like This Song Weather They Admitted It Or Not It Was Being Listened To.. Don't Try To Fool Yourself..
I had this cassette in my 68 Cuda and I would go to work with my brand-new Sony Walkman lol. I hated Electric Avenue but loved alot fo the other MTV classics. Class of 83 Rocks!
not enough innocence and revelation...all the mystery of growing up has been destroyed by instant access and gratification via internet. it never sleeps, it never dreams, it always remembers, it can't be stopped
.i remember scaming this tape off my brother when i was like 10 or something and thinking it and bryan adams was the heaviest shit i had ever heard..lol
I was a teenager in the early 80's. Amazing decade for the coke and weed and music and girls but the problem with the 80's was that Ronald Reagan was president. He turned out to be an absolute disaster for this country.
if most of the people who say the eighties was the best decade would spend half of they spend thinking that making this decade better some really fun times could happen.
I am a product of the 80's. I remember when 1980 came about in Jan and my Mother told me this decade will be full of wonders and possibilities. Little did I understand what she was talking about as I was only 14 at the time. But the decade proved to be wonderful for me and just like many others who lived through it. I would gladly go back if I only could. Just like Eddie Money sings..."I wanna go back."
Back then we had no idea that the 80s would be the last worthwile decade. Yeah too busy having a good time. Then the 90s came and it ALL nose dived into the toilet. Man, today sucks. Some have mentioned how girls looked back then. School was a blast. There were cute girls with great hair and classy clothes everywhere then, even in my auto shop class. It was great. Now it's an entirely different story. Today the girls pretty much look like they've been hit by a bus. What a train wreck.
@mzwere1: good to see you around these parts! you and I see eye to eye on the 80s, 80's women, and old cars. i often took the 80s for granted while growing up. man, was I wrong to do that. I'd take them back faster than you can say, "she's got the magic touch!"
@bigbiscuit100 Right on, I'm always glad to hear there are others who are of like mind on that aspect of the 80s. I've run across more than a few here and other places on the web. They do seem to miss the look of the ladies then.
Yeah, love those old cars. We had a few back then and took part in many a car show & display. I often drove them to school as well. It was great. I really miss all that too. Still looking for that time machine. Ha ha
I was a teenager during the 80's and Loved It!!! We had the Amazing Tunes, car always had a full tank of gas cruizen for women...no worries in life...now there is a house payment ,credit card debt, car payments and Im Divorced.Never thought the world would turn out like it did...Ah Dammit ....Im going to listen to the song again and remember the Great Times...
That girl is a cutie and a hottie. Football legend O.J. Simpson would have loved to marry her,but back in 1983,he was dating his now-deceased second wife,Nicole Elaine Brown. God rest her precious soul.
@mzwere1 ohhh for sure.... its sucks... we get Boy Bands... and Teenage idle's (although they've been around since 1954 and Pat Boone, then Elvis and Ricky Nelson etc.) then we get the 60's not the biggest fan of the 60's but some songs are good but the 70's 80's and the start of the 90's were great
I remember having this on cassette tape in my 1975 chevy. Ffwd...ffwd...ffwd...*oops*...rwind...rwind... *SHIT* ...ffwd... *fuck* ...rwind... **YES!** ...Play!
@yellojeeper I have fond memories of those old cassette player days as well. The auto-search function which found the blank spots between songs & automatically stopped the ffwd or rewind in cassette decks was a godsend. That is unless there was no blank spot between songs. Than it was back to the cursing again. LOL
I was about 5 when I saw them on this tour! I had the coolest parents in the world (who took me) !! Saw them again with my folks when "Lovin' Every Minute of It" came out, with the Hooters opening. Great show by both bands!
I remember this song in my pre-teen years and how the drummer annoyed me. HE STILL FUCKING DOES NOW THAT I'M IN MY MID THIRTIES!!! It's like he's gonna have a coronary from a simple 1-2 beat.
@JuliusGreaser i was a teen back then and it wasn't all that...but, it is a lot better than today's scene. you guys really have it bad...it's like every generation is getting more watered down...stop masturbating so much.
don't feel too bad though, just think what old timers thought of this fluff after cutting their teeth on sinatra or muddy waters or even the beatles...most people by the end of the 80s thought very little of loverboy. they were the butt of jokes.
recall hearing this every other second at the pool in '83 along with zztop's legs, eddie grant's electric avenue and the police's ubiquitous every breath you take. make a young man itch himself into a lather.
The 80's were the best decade for music of all time hands down. I am grateful I was in my teens during this time. Best years of my life. Loverboy ROCKS!!!!
i had just graduated flight school when this came out. it brings back alot of memories of flying fifty feet off the deck at 140 knots. fast ship, fast music, great song! wish i could do it all over again.
The early 80s were the closest thing to Heaven on Earth that this world will ever see, other than God Himself! I've been a devout Christian all my life but still love fast cars and beautiful... music! Haha... this stuff was great. I can still remember watching these videos while playing with my lil electric race cars and such, and then going out and being part of a normal society that knew how to design and manufacture (create!) cool cars, clothes, music etc.. It was an oasis in time for sure!
WRINGORAINTREE, I'm actually a 47 year old Christian man, who doesn't like to see profanity put on this site. Can't you make your comments without swearin'? Think about what to say before you comment. Peace.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
fuck shit cock balls ass nigger bitch cunt whore!! words only have meaning if you give it too them. be a christian (believe in god) but don't be a pussy. people talking shit on the internet wont affect your daily life, unless you let them. and if that is the case you're not just a christian, your a stupid one with psychological issues. i'm sorry your daddy touched you like that
@schism369 I'm sorry I don't quite get what your saying. The first quote by Geo Carlin means we live in a world of deceit and the second by deceased French actor Michel Colucci means your position is straddling the fence. Nowhere in there is it question of 'your father'.
@MykalOfDefiance those were just off the top of my head but we could add more, feel free to add you own if you'd like... how about "you're a douche", in a slang context not the hygienic device
I never went to a Loverboy concert that I did'nt meet a extremely beautiful girl (Robin and Edie you know who you are) Honestly they where wall to wall girls at these concerts.
@Michlimania i was 13.75 yrs in the summer of '83. we probably knew each other. i was at the pool a lot that summer in my speedos...showing off my burgeoning testes. my weiner was still cocktail-sized (no pun) so it was kinda sad.
This was a staple of MTV in the mid 1980's, back when it actually broadcast music videos!!

Wow I remember this was on MTV a few time an hour but I never got sick of it! Like the drummer using the pump handles at the end. This is a classic!

Fast exotic sports cars, sleek sexy women, rippin' music, and total wild wild west freedom and liberty. Quintessential 80s bigtime: Loverboy!

WRINGORAINTREE, I'm actually a 47 year old Christian man, who doesn't like to see profanity put on this site. Can't you make your comments without swearin'? Think about what to say before you comment. Peace.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
fuck shit cock balls ass nigger bitch cunt whore!! words only have meaning if you give it too them. be a christian (believe in god) but don't be a pussy. people talking shit on the internet wont affect your daily life, unless you let them. and if that is the case you're not just a christian, your a stupid one with psychological issues. i'm sorry your daddy touched you like that

He just played you like that. Show the world your sewer mouth.

By and large language is a tool used for concealing the truth.

I`m neither for nor against it,quite to the contrary.

@andrejouellette are you saying my daddy touched me based on my comment and you are contrary to against that?
schism369 1 year ago
@schism369 I'm sorry I don't quite get what your saying. The first quote by Geo Carlin means we live in a world of deceit and the second by deceased French actor Michel Colucci means your position is straddling the fence. Nowhere in there is it question of 'your father'.
andrejouellette 1 year ago
@andrejouellette lol i don't know either i was just being a smart-ass, intentionally misinterpreting what you wrote

Well I don't like to see comments that lack profanity, so can you please use more fuckin' swearin' in your comments?
