Just read previous comments & it was more than likely spelled Belmondo because that's almost Belmont sounds with a Japanese accent-Beru-mon-do. So the got the L part translated, but left the latter half with a Japanese pronunciation for some reason. Or whatevs, that thing about it being Italian sounds just as good.

@Super0Andreu0Bros Belmondo is the original surname, i don't know why but when castlevania was imported in Europe and U.S.A it was changed... Belmondo is italian anyway and it make sense with all the latins and italian names in the games.

I really wonder why people say the designs for this game suck. Sure, they are far off from their original designs (I'm looking at you, Grant) But without the comparing them to the older designs these are just fine, if not superior. (Taking into account that the designs were made by the artist that works on death note, it's no surprise they are different and pretty great.)

@zOMG76 i think its because of like most anime deisgns they are superflous, and another part of it is that simon belmont for instance is romanian so looking like he is japanese doesn't suit him, his castlevania 4 design made a whole lot more sense.

ill have to get this game now since im a proud castlevania fan bot. i reviewed a lot of different videos and it looks like a decent game in combos and finishers. music is typical hot konami taste for castlevania. i wont judge the game. its a fighting game and its not an adventure game. i see some folks on another videos bashin it. i love fighting games and ive seen worse. this game looks as decent as a bloody roar game. Haters gonna hate, but Obata took a cast or relatively bland cliche designs (barbarian, pirate, werewolf, etc) and made them WAY more visually distinct. And unlike Kojima's redesigns, he displayed actual variety! Every character doesn't have long hair, a flowing coat, and bishounen face! They don't all work (Maria and Death, for example), but I'd take these designs over those in Lament or Curse any day.

This game wouldve been 100 times better if:

1: They had more chars (I mean really, leaving out epic ones such as Richter & Soma?).

2: If there were a lot more combos and different attacks.

3: If they had fixed the horrible camera.

4: I know the designer for this game is the one designing chars for Death Note, but most people don't like the char design cuz some of the chars are not recognizable (take Grant for example, wtf?). Personally I don't mind them too much, but I see why ppl complain.

Trevor got a scar on Curse of Darkness, but doesn't need a patch, his eye is fine. So we suppose this eye-wounded Trevor is between Dracula's Curse and Curse of Darkness, like Maria here is between Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night.

@Kikefriki Also, yes... But I'm not against re-designing if the redesign is great. For example, Alucard of SotN was redesigned from DC, in a good way. Personnally, I like Trevor's redesign... but he's probably the only one (I like also Shanoa, Sypha and Dracula in their ways, but Sypha is too "sex" for a church-warrior, Shanoa misses long hair, and Dracula has metal mammals !)
