I'm Icelandic, and I have many foreign friends that have spent time in Iceland, and never have I seen anyone come close to speaking that good Icelandic after only a week. He didn't speak perfectly, but I would say it would take at least 2 or 3 years for a "normal" adult foreigner to learn Icelandic that well.
I totally agree. Over the last year I have been talking to many people on the internet with aspergers (mild autism) and there really kind helpful people. I have been going through a really tough time getting chucked into the real world and getting bullied and have been having constant shutdowns due to the stress, and the autistic community has really helped me. weaveintothewin2 (from youtube) has been the most helpful. He specializes in autism help and information. Aswell as Blackstarzero's help

throw in Lithuanian into that list. being the closest surviving relative to the original indo-european tongue with it's archaic sounds lithuanian is a very tough thing to tackle. it is one of top 10 living ancient languages and so close to sanskrit that by knowing lithuanian language and by applying correct rules you could read and understand sanskrit pretty perfectly
789 - yeah also Swedish & Danish is very Difficult too. i tried all of them & can speak some words in each one But learning it fluently i doubt ill do it some words are hard to pronounce
Yeah. Since i'm a Finn, i have to study Swedish in school, but i really suck at it. But they say that if you speak Swedish, Danish and Norwegian can be learned more easily because the languages are very similiar.
Math is the basic language of the word. Maybe 6 is a representation of negation or a number that has a connotation in a base equation we haven't figure out.
I wonder what 3x6 and it's answer or the actual number 666 feel or represent for him.
I wouldn't view it as a spiritual sense. But it would be interesting *WHY* that numbers specifically was chosen to be vilified in such a religious text.
i am sure there much more thn w can even imagine i remember that scene on the movie contact we that genius millionare decode what the ufo sent,a 3 dimensional decode to not encapsulate things.there might be something like that in reality
Your basing the level of my inteligence on a single youtube post? Wow, you must be incredibly smart; do all of the major learning outlets know about your amazing ability?
id like to know if his visions are 1 dimensional or more. my brother is a maths wiz where as i cannot even do the times tables, i asked him when we were kids how does he do it.. he said he sees the numbers like a picture in his head & he just reads them. I on the other hand can memorize minute detail in pictures but he cannot. weird.
I think we can all take a little comfort in the fact that we all experience a little synesthesia when it comes to somethings. Maybe not to the level of Mr. Tammet, but it's nice to remember we are a unique species on this planet.
I have musical synesthaesia, but it's not your average music. It's about the frequencies that music is mixed in, warm or cold, the colours of the wideness in reverb of music and stuff like that.
Probably we all have a bit of a musical synesthaesia. We all understand musical description like music is "dark" "warm" or "cold". Musicians and studio engineers also use terms like a sound is "meaty" "thick" "fat" "thin" etc etc
Even if you've never heard those terms applied to music before you immediately get their meanings. But of course a sound is not literally thick because a sound has no substance.
Obviously this is not synesthaesia on a high level, but synesthaesia non the less
I heard from somewhere else that you are a dumb sack of horse shit and that people are better off disbelieving you and continuously throwing stones at your face while chanting " For hes a jolly good dumb ass for hes a jolly good dumb ass"

Yeah, or can he do it with his wife and kids being held hostage when one of his kids has already been shot dead in front of him and he has sore feet from wearing badly fitting shoes?
I wonder if he can calculate odds. Like a lakers vs Knicks game and give the odds of who wins and the odds of someone making so many points in a game.
You're absolutely right. I'm glad someone said that. This comment column is very lucky that it had you to say a thing like that. Very lucky indeed. Just think where everyone's misled deductions could have lead them had you not been on hand to point out what you did. In many ways you have performed a feat of real moral importance with your comment, and I'm sure I'm not being unduly lauding to tell you that we all owe you our lives for what you have done here for us.
It is much more about how we use our brain than how much of our brain we use. Unfortunately most of us will never feel numbers or taste music, but some people have oddly miswired brains that gives them these skills. What you don't see in a film like this is how handicapped such people are in performing tasks that most of us consider trivial, like reading the emotion on the face of a friend.
That reminds me of another Extraordinary People episode where a black teenager without eyes can still see through echo-location, by clicking his tongue to hear his surroundings.. and i'm sure in public people think his on the cellphone with his African relatives down in Ethiopia.
And he would use his abilities to learn how to be a black belt in karate just in a split second, block your kick, flip you on your ass and pummel your face in.
I think that icelandic is very difficult to learn ... it's acctually more like the language of Færeyja ( don't know the english name for that country)
But icelandic is prooven to be one of the most difficult languages to learn and I think this is amazing... and in only seven days! It he would have learned all this in more time than this wouldn't be as amzing as it is... but only seven days... and he speaks it quite well...
The English name for the country is Faroe Islands. It maybe sounds more like faeroer, but I think you cannot expect him to master the pronunciation in only seven days. For an Englishman it is already an achievement not to sound too English.
No the Faroe Islands is not the same as Iceland. The language is a bit simular, but a faroe islander can not understand Icelandic unless he speaks really slowly.
Yes, I know the Faroe Islands is not Iceland. But it is the English word for Faereyja (read three comments above). I was merely refering to the fact that although some might think his pronunciation sounds more like faroer, that it doesn't really have anything to do with his amazing capability of mastering the grammar so quickly.
im a freestyle rapper and im autistic. the way he looks at numbers i look at words and rymes.

Just think where everyone's misled deductions could have lead them had you not been on hand to point out what you did. In many ways you have performed a feat of real moral importance with your comment, and I'm sure I'm not being unduly lauding to tell you that we all owe you our lives for what you have done here for us.

Your sarcasm is not required. Hopefully you didn't expend all your high level vocab words writing that waste.

I think all of us can do it. we only use like 10% of our brain power
LCVybz 2 years ago
total myth.

In that case I hope you're an idiot savant too.
Good luck with that.

That reminds me of another Extraordinary People episode where a black teenager without eyes can still see through echo-location, by clicking his tongue to hear his surroundings.. and i'm sure in public people think his on the cellphone with his African relatives down in Ethiopia.

I think that icelandic is very difficult to learn ... it's acctually more like the language of Færeyja ( don't know the english name for that country)
But icelandic is prooven to be one of the most difficult languages to learn and I think this is amazing... and in only seven days! It he would have learned all this in more time than this wouldn't be as amzing as it is... but only seven days... and he speaks it quite well...
... well done I must say ... well done
MissKaro85 3 years ago
It's MORE like..? Wouldn't that imply that Icelandic was first compared to another language? Did I miss something?
atbestvague 3 years ago
The English name for the country is Faroe Islands. It maybe sounds more like faeroer, but I think you cannot expect him to master the pronunciation in only seven days. For an Englishman it is already an achievement not to sound too English.
mpangoman 3 years ago
No the Faroe Islands is not the same as Iceland. The language is a bit simular, but a faroe islander can not understand Icelandic unless he speaks really slowly.
The faroe islands are a bit closer to norway.
Uplon 3 years ago
Yes, I know the Faroe Islands is not Iceland. But it is the English word for Faereyja (read three comments above). I was merely refering to the fact that although some might think his pronunciation sounds more like faroer, that it doesn't really have anything to do with his amazing capability of mastering the grammar so quickly.
