What a freakin' peach this song is! 'grew up listening to this in the UK many yrs ago and my god this brings it all back - great time to be a teenager during NWOBHM! Thanks for posting.
@MrSomonestolemyname There were somefabulous groups at the time but most are long forgotten unfortunately. here are a few to check out: Tobruk, Dark Star, Magnum, Dawn Trader, Tygers of Pantang, Bladerunner, Heavy Pettin', True Grit, Quo Vardis, Jameson Raid, White Spirit (with Janik Gers) to name but a small few. Hope this helps.
@MrSomonestolemyname Hi again. thought of a few more for you to check out. As well as bands like Saxon, Iron Maiden and Def leppard try these few: Angel Witch (a personal favourite of mine) Witch Fynde, Briar, Quartz (early but a great Brummie band) Sledgehammer, Tank, Gaskin and try Riot and Anvil also. Happy hunting!
@MrSomonestolemyname Sorry a couple more for you: Chevy, Scorched Earth, Deep Joy and the wonderful and much lamented Irish group Momas Boys. Their track "Needle in the Groove" was a classic of the time like Dark Stars "Lady of Mars". In those days I was at gigs two or three times a week so I saw most of these bands. I am a Brummie and still live near the city. It was a fabulous place to be into metal and rock in general in those days. I played with a couple of the groups. Miss those days.
@MrSomonestolemyname I started out as a Bassist and have returned to it over the last few years but when I was playing in a couple of the bands (only briefly) mentioned I was a rhythm, then a rhythm and lead guitarist. My first love was always the bass though as I love to push the rhythm along and add bits in to fill the sound out. Getting too old to rock and roll nowadays but as the stones said "too young too die". Glad I could be of some help.
@MrSomonestolemyname I tried to be different but after punk came along the only thing most metal bands wanted was someone who could bang out the root of the chord. BORING! But it was a great time to be involved. I am sure I will come up with a few more for you in time. Some it is still a bit of a blur (alcohol etc) so some of the names escape me but i will let you know. Cheers!
Little known fact....the guitarist (Mark) was in my band for one day but then he buggered off home! It musta looked rough n the North East! Never found out why!
Think they were called Sabotage at the time Steve Mills joined them. Prior to that they were Called Requiem and are still around now calling themselves Rekuiem.
@Hawkofwar500 Didn't realise that you could search out comment replies! Oh well 2 years later you might pick this up :-) The band were called Requiem but I think they change their name to Sabotage for the brief period when Steve Mills was with them. One day I'll find those tapes.
One of my all time favorite NWOBHM..This song takes me right back to the very beginning of the nwobhm movement along with Angelwitch, Iron Maiden, Riot, Raven, Samson, and so many others.............
Mark is my uncle :D and im pretty sure im related to paul aswell. (im not actualy his nephew but he is my dad's cousin (my dad was origonally in trespass back when they used to be called somthing different.. like blue somthing i cant rememeber...) but i just call him my uncle me and my sister just have forever.)
Slayer fucken sucks they destroyed metal all i hear when i listen to slayer is SHIT! so that means slayer is not metal and slayer has nothing on these guys
Excellent! Yes..brings back memories of metal for muthas, metal warriors, metal fatigue etc, etc. Once a headbanger-always a headbanger! Those were the days!!

Sounds like you where a bit more then the avarage
"I play this note cos the band told me" bassist.
Makes the music really come alive when you suddenly hear a really
chatchy baseriff behind the guitar.
And thanks for all the help. Dont hesitate to message me
again if you remember more bands.

Good stuff, but for the real mother lode you need to get some Jameson Raid!
They were an awseome rock band from the late 70s / early 80s.
They gotta a site, jamesonraid(fullstop)net.
Amazing...
