Bitch U aint built tha pyramids, that be tha Egypshizzle, we Afro sub sahara, not tha gypsy breed. An' Cleopatra was white Greek, she aint got no black azz, an' neetha duz U, so get ova yo' mixxed race azz damn
@Shojahan Thank you for taking the time to share your opinion. I do wish you could have chosen another way to share it, but I still accept your opinion, as well, yours. For future reference, the oldest skeleton in the world comes from Africa. So technically every human being is a descendant of Africa. Also, for your reference, my great great grandmother was born into slavery, and my father was of African American descent. And I don't think I mentioned Cleopatra in my poem. Thanks.
I know how she feels. Im a mixed girl and forever since I was a little girl have been living in a completely white environment. I had always wanted straight hair, a thin body type, and bright blue or green eyes. Now I'm 14 and realize how unique and beautiful I really am and embrace my curly hair and curvy body type. I love being mixed! I do actually realize that guys r pretty attracted to mixed and exotic girls as well so, not a problem for me! ;D
@MusikkIzMiLiffee Thanks lady! Yes, love who you are, because no matter what, that's the light that will shine and that you can share with others! Thanks for the note! : )
if you like poem. please join my facebook page Poetry of peace express your feelings there make are words heard. freedom of peace for muslims and nun muslims and all people.
we will join together and show the world how we feel about the world today we can make a difference believe me.. peace and sallam to all.
@TheBannedPoet Wow! That's unreal! Thanks for sharing this valuable information. Those of us with a voice must continue to speak, that's the only way to affect change. Thanks for posting.
@alicetheninth Yes Alicetheninth....I might be a vision of the future in which cooperation, tolerance and love can exist together. Co-exist...the world has always been that way, from the beginning of time.
@shellion5 Thanks shellion5! I take this as a positive wow! But if you meant it another way, forgive my inability to read between the lines! Thanks for taking the time to post. : )
STILL remains an issue from the time my ppls was brought on these shores to build this so-called 'nation' 500 (((YEARS))) after DAAAMN colonization is a mufucka huh? but all in all IF i had a choice to come to this earth reincarnated in my next life you know what? i'd wanna be a Black Male again & as Dark as i am as well
i LOVE myself b/c i know who i am when i look in the mirror & cant NOBODY take that shit away from me mane
& i've come to notice the different paradigms that other shades of Black go through as well i thought we was the only shade that caught the backlash from this society but in actuality we have sort of a cushion in knowin' we are who we are to an extent & we have a solace within that sphere of understandin' but the lighter shades catch it as well.. shits deep how deep this Issue traces back to slave days when they divided blacks amongst the shade of our skin & how it
@4tabula2rasa0 I can only imagine what you go through. I know when I was a kid people used to ask my mom whose child I was! And she was like "She's MINE!" Sending you and your brother love. What matters is that YOU both know you're family! Thanks for posting! : )
Yea I dont care what she says mixed ppl are still not black. They only want to be black when they see that they can not be white, or whatever the hell they turn out to look like, like she so clearly said in her poem.
@newbei440 So, I almost didn't post your comment, but then I decided that your opinion should be allowed to be heard. I have to say, what I REALLY believe, is that everyone descends from the same two people, who I believe were "black." So, in that case, mixed or not, we ALL are black. However, the more important thing to take away, I think, is that life is about finding one's own expression of who they are, that no one should simply be defined by the color of their skin, but by who they are.
so let me get this straight... youre saying that someone who is mixed isnt black right? because theyre not fully black. but if they're mixed theyre not fully anything else either, are they? so what are they really? if theyre not black because thats not their full heritage then they cant be white, or hispanic, or asian either....can they?
so in the end, what do they turn out to be? get your head outta your ass and realize and understand the true nature of this poem.
@Tairaacangrox The truth is, everyone these days has some mix of something. Find out who you are inside, and work from there. The people that know and love you will be there no matter what! : )
i am half spanish and irish..i know what it feels like to be brown and white.. adversity is tough when purity is always held high and half breed is shunned
@flatulantbrothers Yes, this is true. But there are very few people anymore that are really pure anything. Keep being who you are, because that's what matters most! : )
I know how she feel. Im multi-racial raised my a multi-racial mother. I am what the world call High Yellow. Blacks didnt like me b/c I was bright skin with long hair. A stupid reason not to like anyone. But I wasnt a push over and I didnt take BS even as a young age.
@imaqtee1 Yes, totally stupid reason not to like anyone. Glad to hear you stuck it out and it sounds like you are stronger for having had to deal with that. Stay strong! : )
@Maddluv4eric Definitely one of my favorite as well! I performed in the play when I was in college (yes, at Wesleyan). I was Lady Purple. It still is one of my favorite shows, it was a very special cast. : ) I thought they did okay with the movie too!
@Maddluv4eric AWESOME! : ) I actually walked by Ntzake Shange at the premiere of the movie....but I was too shy (I know right...) to say hello! Oh well...
