    and they grow to fast

  • Tha'ts incredible, Great job!

  • holy shit that tree is huge!!

  • so wahat what is the point of this everyone knows it happens?!

  • @Ratama The point is that it's beautiful & gives you pause to think about how amazing it is & what is happening in the darkness of the earth & why.... Nah, not for you?

  • anyone know the background music?

  • it would be badass if it would show tree evolving for 50 years Oo

  • This is by far one of the best time-lapse videos out there - captures every phase with just the right angles and expenditure of time. Plus, the subject is simply beautiful. Thanks for the great work!

  • 0:41 erection :D

  • its a sapling

  • 0:37 um...i think i have seen something like this before just trying to think where... ?

  • Push, push, puuuush! Congratulations, it's an oak!!!

  • Was that -Days or Week's ? - apart from that i have one in my back guarden from that size thats now 30 odd feet tall.

  • I want to see a 50 year old tree time lapse, I'll be back in 50 years!

  • I imagine this is how God sees the world... probably a little faster, though.

  • @djAmiracle except there isn't one

  • @IAmKingBonzo good job

  • And that people, was eight months of your life watching a plant growing.

    COOL!

  • cool but disappointing because of the title.

  • not a tree lols

  • How long was that?

  • Comment removed

  • @dleach89 - OMG. OMG. OK. Thanks. I was SO wrong. Apologies to NewScientist.

  • NewScientist is redeeming itself...

  • Comment removed

  • Some decent music for once

  • And a mighty Oak Tree that is! One of the finest if I say so myself. I shall harvest this lumber to build my cabin with enough to spare as fire wood that shall last me a full Canadian winter! (Winnipeg winter, not Vancouvers...)

  • that's not a tree.....o_O

  • it still not yet a tree......lol

  • "It's ALIVE!" "It's ALIVE!!!"

    Great vid. Thumbs up!

  • good choice in music!

  • am i lame for thinking that watching a tree grow on the internet is interresting?

  • The music on this one is better than the usual crap you use. More Triphop!

  • hmm I wonder how they kept the lighting the same the whole time

  • This video is strangely relaxing.

  • 0:55 its trying to fly

  • USELESS PEICE OF SHIT VIDEO like usually -_-

  • born with erection =D

  • Where does night time go on time lapse vids?

  • In Terraria this happens a wee bit faster...

  • @TheGoblinBane in minecraft no wait time at all.... just make it ;)

  • It's great, but in order to really capture the awesomeness of nature, it should run long enough to show a full grown tree...I'll be back in 150 years ;)

  • Gives a whole new meaning to "busting a nut"

  • @takadi

    Cheeky bastard...

  • So how will this knowledge help to cure canser?

  • @gj75845 Learn to spell.

  • @gj75845

So how does you doing your job help to cure cancer?

So how do your spare-time activities help to cure cancer?

So how does you sleeping at night help to cure cancer?

So how does your lame comment help to cure cancer?

Who the hell says all human efforts and/or knowledge seeking should be directed towards curing cancer?

  • thats beautiful......

  • I find it still amazing how some thing so small with time 100 years or so evolves to be some thing so huge and is some thing that life depends on.

  • YEAH MR WHITE, SCIENCE

  • @0:36 tree penis!

  • Holy guacomolie, it is alive? Kill it with fiiiirrreeee!!!

  • Next time please don't taint a clip with music.

  • @BelligerentPacifist Protip: There is a mute button.

  • @wolverine005 Used that, but wanted to hear the crackling of the seed and other natural sounds. The music spoiled it all.

  • @BelligerentPacifist - you won't get nature sounds from time lapse. It takes one frame every hour or some such. So you get sample of 1/24th of a second of sound every hour. Result != nature sounds

  • @thettguy Thanks for the info. Yeah that's almost common sense.

  • It looked like it was trying to fly away at the end :D

  • Really neat time-lapse.

  • That's really cool! Not really an oak tree though.

  • reminds me of the movie "The Fountain"

  • DAMN NATURE, YOU SCARY!

  • IS it just my immaturity or did the acorn split in two, look like balls, then get a noodle boner?

  • it's funny how we think trees come out of the ground, when actually most of the stuff in a tree comes out of the air (something like 90-99%). trees come out of the air! this video is misleading :)

  • @xjaskix How is it misleading? He planted a seed and videoed what it did. Or did the seed mislead us? Did it lie? - Very strange comment

  • ehm... bonemeal?

  • The song is "Silence Await - by CDK" but I cannot find it anywhere on YouTube.

  • Awaken my child, and embrace the glory that is your birth right! Know that I am the Overmind, the eternal will of the Swarm, and that you have been created to serve me!

  • AMAZING !! I'm inlove...

  • the seed has to die first notice the insects eating the dead seed which then comes to life

    from death

  • @balamanti2 No, the seed doesn't have to die. A dead seed can't give rise to a living tree.

  • @Mithcoriel

the seed dies yes, the shell dies and decomposes, part of the inner core is decomposed and part of it becomes food of the heart that comes to life.

U do not like it kill urself

  • @balamanti2 Pretty impolite answer don't you think?

Anyway, you probably could say that part of the seed dies, the same way cells of our skin die and fall off every day. But we would hardly speak of a fetus as "dying" before it becomes a baby, would we? However you phrase it, fact is, you can distinguish between a seed which is dead, meaning there's no living cells in it anymore, and that seed can *not* grow, and one that's alive, which can. What's your definition of "alive"?

  • @Mithcoriel

come on don't give me your bull I know where you are getting at.

life is the miricle that comes from the heart of the seeds when it is triggered to start growing and interacting with the sun, the wind, soil and being part of time and celebrate its existence.

While you are stuck in the miscery of your atheism I leave alone to kill yourself if you do not like what I am saying

  • @balamanti2 Atheism? Who's talking about atheism? Interesting assumption. I take it, then, that the reason you think the seed is dead is for some religious reasons, not scientific ones?

Yeah, life's a miracle in the sense that it's "really really cool", but not in the sense that it's supernatural. Your definition for "alive" isn't helping the problem. Let me give you mine so you see what I was asking: alive is when the cells are functioning (moving enzymes around and all that stuff).

  • @Mithcoriel

You can not explain the Miracle of life without the transcendental realm. Nor the spiritual wisdom behind death that gives a miracle of the seed that has to die so a new plant will rise; there will be no seed no more, the crust with rot , the part of the body will also rot. life inside that seed a triggered to start interacting with time, be part of time-spiritual mysteries & wisdom that lie behind. Science is about sick arrogant people trying to prove they're the smartest

  • @balamanti2 Wether it's caused by god or not is irrelevant. Point is the seed's insides are always alive. If by "die" you meant "stop existing", then sure: the seed dies, as it turns into a plant, thereby becoming something else. The same way an egg "dies" when it hatches then.

But your claim that science is sick and arrogant is just silly. All "science" means is "let's figure out how the world works by checking things out" instead of just sitting around guessing. How can that ever be bad?

  • @balamanti2 Actually science is about trying to understand the world around us without having to use mystical mumbo jumbo that doesn't even make sense....

  • @balamanti2 No prizes for guessing who came bottom of their physics class at school. Probably English classes as well, if that comment was anything to go by.

  • @Aeginnt

don't guess it is not a multiple choice because if your guessing you have failed the course !

in fact i was on top of my class in science i have several degrees in computer @ wireless networks, i am also achiver in arts and sports

  • @balamanti2 How DARE you say that about science, which has gone so far towards helping us understand our world and increase our lifespan/quality of life! If you hate science so much, you ungrateful BRAT, then throw away your computer. Don't use a furnace or AC unit. In fact, how about you just go live like a bear in the forest or a cave if you have such contempt for the HARD work of so many unselfish men and women, some of who have DIED gaining that knowledge! That'll get your attitude adjusted.

  • @critterfreek82

You are think, Science is not about truth, Science is about having a view that wants to assume superiority and it is mostly about someone trying to prove he is smarter.

This is not "truth" and "better" human being. This is about "glory" and certain arrogant ideology. and YES I DARE SAY IT ON ROOF TOPS

  • that's happening now. everywhere around the world.

  • awesome vid

  • thats how my dick get hard too

  • Now that's what I call busting a nut

  • Achievement Unlock! Witness the beauty of life!

  • Correction: Acorn to sapling time lapse. --I sort of wondering how they were going to handle the tree aspect of this time lapse; the answer was they don't.

  • @dafttool that would be pretty awesome tho...imagine that for a project - from the same spot, same time of day, a photo of a tree every ?week/month from the beginning to the end of its life, like a few hundred plus years... i wonder if anyones done it for any significant amount of time...?

  • @jeebersjumpincryst The BBC made a programme called 'Millenium Oak' 12 years ago, in which they simulated the life of a 1,000 year old oak tree using a combination of timelapse and other effects:

    watch?v=VYwTSwqddBM

  • @dafttool same here - read the title and thought: "Have someone been taking pictures of a tree for 50+ years? Amazing!" Dissapointingly not.

  • @dafttool I wish i could attached the Price is right losing horn to the end of your comment.

  • @dafttool "A tree is a perennial woody plant. It is most often defined as a woody plant that has many secondary branches supported clear of the ground on a single main stem or trunk with clear apical dominance"... so yea they did.

your preference of the word "tree" is irrelevant

  • @outlawkelb douche

  • @dafttool Their only fault is misuse of terminology, not an inability to make a 100 year time-lapse, which they never intended.

  • @dafttool Actually, it does become a tree if you continue watching after the credits. Watch it again, friend.

  • nice

  • good music too.

  • This is pretty bad ass.
