  • College in the US is overpriced anyway. Some degrees are completely worthless. Others are fading out due to economic situation. Probably we will see soon that some BAs, like humanities, social sciences, art, and yes even English, are dissmissed from the Academia. What a way to compete with China and other countries where the education is free. The voracious student loan industry only cares about grinding kids to their last penny and then calling themselves a big help for higher education.

  • I never took a private student loan

  • Oh look how simple it all is. Thanks American news. You always make things as easy as 1-2-3.

  • I have a student loan and I need help, please.

  • that's not true, first off, government subsidized lenders like sallie mae, will come after you worse than the IRS. they will ruin your life regardless of your financial situation. I'd rather be put in jail for a couple years and come out clean, than to owe these leaches. now this whole talk about rsearch how much you'll be able to pay back and all that, is something that you hear now. before this whole fiasco, you were always told that as a college graduate, any debt is worth your education !!!

  • College is good to go to any form of higher learning us great but the problem is when we take out these loans pay the interest on the loan while in school and try to pay down the loan in school if you can get a fixed low intrest rate loan from the feds never go to the privete lenders you will pay more for your loan then u do if u borrow from the Feds

  • Great advice.. please don't borrow a penny more than you need!

  • College is an investment. All investments involve RISK! (I have an accounting degree that I haven't used because I lost interest in the subject after I got my degree.) If you can't afford to go to college, then DON'T GO! Spend your money on a new iPod or on Blu-Ray discs. College is one of the riskiest investments you can make.

  • yeah but see, that's not what your told when growing up, all this is barely out now. "oh college is expensive but will pay off" "its the best investment youll ever make" or how about this one "you're gonna make a million more dollars in your working lifetime than those who didnt go to college" its all crap. this country made us believe this, now they should relieve us somehow and make college more affordable. it's overpriced, the best thing to do right now is NOT GO TO COLLEGE.

  • @eloseohmartinez

    or GOTO UNIVERSITY IN GERMANY.

Seriously. America isn't the only place with world class Universities.

  • @eloseohmartinez Unless soneone has scholarships and grants and gets "A's and B's" in school, he/she should NOT go to college right after high school.

  • Ya! Borrow from the Feds so that if you can't repay they can come after you like the IRS. Listen to the mainstream media and go ahead and get yourself into trouble. The private loans may be higher interest, but you won't have the government breathing down your neck and threatening to put you in jail if you can't repay.
