Donna Wilkes was BRILLIANT as Angel, however, she can not do live television. She sounds like she's reading, is monotone, and has no inflection. Brilliant in films, dud on television.
The reason McLean Stevenson " Lt. Col. Henry Blake" left M*A*S*H is that he is that he felt threatened by Alan Alda and he wanted to be # 1 in a show. Wayne Rogers who played " Trapper John" left also for the same reason at the end of season 3.
HA HA. I can't believe youtube has episodes of this show. I remember I was about 9 when this came out, only reason I watched is they plugged the heck out of the show during the Super Bowl. Usually at that age, I'd go for any show where kids are involved. Not this one. Haven't seen the show for 30 years and agree with my initial feeling, what a lame show!!
I remember watching this when I was a kid and enjoying it. Now that I'm adult and watching this for the first time in years - I can't imagine what McLean Stevenson was thinking when he left MASH for this.
I have to admit, even though I'm more of a Donna Wilkes fan, Kim Richards sounds more natural with her lines and Donna sounds scripted. Although in the movie "Angel", she did a great job.
BTW, thanks for posting this. Would like to see more.

@CAU98 This was not very popular. The only reason why I started watching it was because my high school took us on a field trip to see it filmed.

Now I can prove that this show actually existed and that Mclean Stevenson was a funny guy besides being on match game.

Pretty cool late 70s apartment. Kind of reminds of One day at a time.

Yeah, really...the sad thing is that it was his most successful post-MASH series(!).

I watched a lot of TV in the 70s and 80s but I've never heard of Hello Larry.
I want to see the scene with the 70s era girls popper slumber party.

Even McLeane couldn't save this show from the horrendous girl actors - they were terrible.

Even Julie on drugs was better than this.

Diane is doing drugs? I guess art really does imitate life.

it's a shame that maclean didn't have any success after he left mash, he was pretty funny

My god is this lame. I haven't laughed once. I'll see if parts 2 and 3 are better, but probably not. No wonder why this show didn't make it.
