  • vanguardistas dos anos 60

    Lou Reed fodástico!

    é isso ae meow!!

Rock n Roll não se aprende e nem se ensina

  • the kills. need i say anything more...

  • @littleblacksub Well, an explanation would help, yes.

  • Life is like a box of chocolates, you always seach for the ones which contain alcohol.

  • @texasB666 Or heroin xD

  • @Azure260 the strokes :-) there are amazing

  • To all with peace...I'm 70 and took me some time to finally capture this break through song....pdm

  • Misfits:)

  • Teenage Mary said to Uncle Dave "I AM THE TABLE"

  • f a n t a s t i c

  • Of course there's a lot of good music out there these days, you won't find it on the radio, though. I think that should be clear by now. If you want to listen to good modern music you actually need to work for it and search.

  • Chi jerya ?!

  • ' The rise of alternative/grundge music ! ' FTW !

  • What a tune; one of my fave VU tracks; love the deep electronic thrum in the background. So raw, nothing could beat this.

  • music is like a box of chocolate, you throw away the rappers

  • @AsianHitman1 Why hate on rappers?

  • @Joalda1 cxause thaey re fuckn shit

  • @ferret630 No, they're not? There is alot of good rap out there...

  • @Joalda1 actually yeah there is ....

  • Black Keys' "Howlin for You" kinda reminds me of "Run Run Run". I like em both.

  • @kenjarecki ya you're exactly right. good one

  • Why would their be a modern day equivalent? This is an old style of music that isn't popular at all in this day and age. Personaly i don't see the appeal in someone struming the same cord over and over while someone plays rubish solos over it.

  • I really don't think that there's a modern day equivalent to these guys. But there are a lot of bands inspired by them like Black Lips, The Black Angels. A lot of psych bands too.

  • @Azure260 THE STROKES MAN!!!! xD

  • @Azure260

    The strokes???? what you ting??

  • Is it taboo to mention " SMACK " when mentioin Lou Reed ???

  • The Strokes

  • I don't know why this song reminds me of chuck norris!

  • The Strokes are the modern equivelant in my opinion.

  • Just seen the Strokes at Reading, they were even trying to look like VU

  • Can Someone tell me who's singing, Lou or Cale?

  • @SamsonOff7 Lou, definately. Listen to Cale's Fear album to get a good idea of his different range and Welsh brogue. Both great in different ways. your pal, dxguy...

  • Woman You know you're a woman You got to be a woman I got the feeling of love!

  • emo sucks

  • I was famous for 15 minutes!

  • Music today in 2011 just sucks compared to "real" music.....SDD

  • @scdean121 You know what sucks? You do, fatboy. A lot of cake, candy and soda. Go diet instead of polluting the internet with your drivel.

  • @scdean121 Well, let's not say that shall we. Take Foster the People or Triggerfinger for example.

  • @scdean121 There are plenty of amazing bands in 2011... Stop watching MTV and you'll find them.

  • @bobfossil7 white stripes :P

  • the blueprint for brianjonestown massacre, iggy, the blurprint for any music that matters, i hear a band has this in their influences and im like lets check this ish out

  • bye bye ghsi ja

    '

  • i perfer take a walk on the wild side or perfect day but this is boss as hell

  • New solo-artist,Ransley.Check out all uploads on this channel.

  • I gotta run, run, run this Towne!

  • I don't know why but I always thinked THIS IS A CURSED SONG...

and not for the words, but for the sound!!

PS: it's one of my favourite songs ever!

  • Where is the equivalent to the Velvet Underground in the modern world? Really, I want to know.

  • @Azure260 John Frusciuante, check him out!!

  • @abar1204 Too True my man!

  • @Azure260 dude, seriously, the strokes are the modern equivalent! please listen to them! they always said the velvet underground was their biggest influence. listen to ''clear skies'' and ''someday''. they even did a cover of ''a walk on the wild side'' by lou reed! its pretty good if i can say.

  • @sunsun410 strokes are ok but range of almost 0 they do their one thing. strokes would have a long way to go to be comparable to vu. vu had no limits. I like the strokes but I heard 'last night' and that was the strokes. what can they do besides 'last night'? haven't heard that yet although i have heard many of their songs. If you try to listen to alot of strokes you will get bored and move on. You can listen to vu for hours and hours and hours.

  • @OctoSnuffaluffagus well i guess everyones different, because i have been a huge fan of the strokes since '10 and i listen to them all the time and i've never been bored. and it really depends on what album you listened to because yes, their first is a little repetitive, but there are now 4 albums and they already have come a lonnng way. it's been 10 years. listen to their other ones. the 4th is a completely different sound. (sorry for the length of this)

  • @sunsun410 Maybe I will check 'The Strokes' out again.

  • @OctoSnuffaluffagus great! thanks for giving them a second chance :)

  • @Azure260 sadly nothing =( . Maybe in the future years...

  • @Azure260 The Black Angels

  • @Azure260 The closest would be The Strokes' frist album, but other than that, there's nothing close.

  • @Azure260 Brian Jonestown Massacre.

  • @Azure260

    BJM

  • @Azure260 The kills... =)

  • @Azure260 OFWGKTA

  • @DrDavidHowler in a way yes, Odd Future are the modern equivalent of the Velvets.

  • @Azure260 Take a look at it and the answer to your question is very clear: Arcade Fire

  • @Azure260 streetlight manifesto

  • @Azure260 I really like The Raveonettes, and The Velvet Underground is one of their biggest influences.

  • @Azure260

Probably some really obscure indie band, which is what the velvet underground was.

  • @Azure260

sonic youth: song: beauty in the eye

  • @Azure260 SERIOUSLY? That Velvets-equivalent band formed in Manchester, England, Dec '76. Inspired by VU, Link Ray, German band Can, and Capt. Beefheart--and instantly sounding more eclectic than celebrated contemporaries The Clash--The Fall were called 'the 1st post-punk band' by one critic upon arrival, established the blueprint that US bands Pavement, Sonic Youth & others would turn into the roots of 90s Alt-Rock, helped create Dance-Rock, & continue 2 influence. Hear The Fall @ my place.

  • @Azure260 closest i can think of are WEEN

  • @Azure260 the black keys? (:

  • @Azure260 Some say, The strokes

  • @Azure260 Necro!!!!!!!! Modern underground surviving junkie respected by old and young too.

  • @Azure260 Check out The Kills. Particularly 'goodnight bad morning,' 'wait,' and acoustic versions of 'baby says' and 'pots and pans.'

  • @Azure260 The Kills. Simply put, only, more grungy though, but essentially, the only real equivalent now.

  • @Azure260

It's a bit of a silly question, really. The Velvet Underground were great because they thought of loads of new ideas and sounds. So if there were to be a modern equivalent of Velvet Underground, they would sound totally different :P

  • @Azure260 THE BJM

  • @Azure260 arcade fire kinda

  • @Polkadottedpanda225 You may be right in a way

  • @Azure260 Sonic Youth? ok, not that modern since they are active since the 80's

  • @Azure260 people don't live therefore people don't rock.

  • @Azure260 I'll attempt to field this one. The Strokes, who, I might add, admit to being heavily influenced by VU. But, I don't necessarily want to say they are "equivalent". The VU did their own thing and the Strokes do their own thing. Sometime, look up "The Modern Age" by the Strokes, I thought that song had VU written all over it.

  • @churlskunk As I was scrolling down the page, thinking of scdean121's comment, I thought of Modern Age by the Strokes -my favorite band!

  • Listen to Endless Boogie.

  • @Azure260 OH ARE YOU KIDDING ME????? the strokes is just like the velvet undergroun in fact some people says that strokes are the new velvets undergrounds and julian casablancas the singer sing just like the guy from the velvet so later check it THE STROKES but look for the oldest albuns cuz is better than the new look for THE STROKES-BAND-IS THIS IT- ALBUM :)

  • @thecuyx nah, id say the next return of a Velvet-esque band was Spacemen 3 in the 80s and the Brian Jonestown Massacare in the 90s, the Strokes or nothing but spoiled little rich kids

  • @theblahman Julian Casablancas never lived with his father (who was the rich parent) from a young age, and was sent to a boarding school abroad. In many interviews about this time in his childhood, he states that he wasn't given much money to spend over there, and often spent time alone while the other students were able to go out with their money. As for the others, they're nowhere near 'rich kids'. And if they were, does that mean their music isn't as good?

  • @hazuinf Going to an elite boarding school in Switzerland is pretty much the definition of being a spoilt little rich kid, just because his pocket money wasnt as big as the other snobs he hung out with doesnt mean he was slumming it, another member wnet to the same school as well as others going to private school, anyway, hardly worth puttin them up to the likes of the Velvets.

  • @theblahman Okay, but as I said, being a rich kid =/= unable to produce good music. The Strokes are pretty much proof of that.

And the reason they were mentioned here is because the Velvets were a massive influence on them. I'm assuming.

  • @hazuinf It's your opinion I don't have the right to argue about. But claiming that The Strokes are unable to produce good music? They maid big influence on the later indie/post-punk development.

  • @MegaDarkChris No, I meant 'being a rich kid =/= (ie, doesn't equal) unable to produce good music'. Because people were talking like you can't produce good music just because you're rich, so I disagreed. I love The Strokes. : )

  • The bass and drums in this song are the best work they ever did. It just cooks along droning.

  • @robertschelly I'd run scared shitless to this tune lulz

  • Seasick Sarah, had a golden nose, hobnail boots wrapped 'round her toes, When she turned bluuuue, alll the angels screamed! They didn't know, couldn't make the scene.

  • @astrotoadp6 Garbage, trash, junk.

  • @pivotair oh, TRASH. you said thrash, which is in a different area entirely xD

  • @astrotoadp6 And you accept my comment on it?

  • Lou Reed is Bob Dylan's son !

  • Comment removed

  • Run run run run run take a drag or two

Run run run run run texas avenue

  • hmmmmm....the last few comments have absolutely nothing to do with this. you should all RUN, RUN, RUN!

  • look into my channel for video and more informations on about THE BEATS that its a FAKE BEATLES band with featuring LOU REED and J CALE.

  • feel the velvet! feels good!

  • Lou Reed destroys anything anyone else has ever done. (okay that's an exaggeration but you get the idea)

  • Running in Paris, at 2 A.M, and this song in the ears, with no place to sleep. I spend the night from midnight to 6 o'clock but I had this song... Beautiful night.

  • lol lynyrn skynyrd videos

  • I recall a memorable, amusing '78 quote from Trouser Press mag's "100 Best Guitarists" issue: "Us,kid you?Sure Capt. Naughty was never a technical virtuoso,&maybe it was he didn't quite know how to approach his instrument.Or maybe it was as deliberate as everything else in Lou's subsequent career-but Lou got amazing sounds out his guitar no one had ever gotten before.A recent jam onstage with John Cale proves Lou can still do it...with an approach reminiscent of Neil Young. Take that Lou."

  • Cool song but the guitar solo is complete garbage. Anyone who thinks that's a great, or even good solo needs to clean out their damn ears.

  • I had a hard time going thru them teenage years. This kinda ish showed me around and let me know it was ok to be a bit freaky

  • go REAL UNDERGROUND baby. forget these hair makers and sunglasses posers of VELVET UNDERGROUND

  • @rochebraziliano Correct me if I am wrong... but did you just call the Velvet underground posers? ARE YOU FO REAL??

  • @PandaBearJelly YES they are posing like 60s UNDERGROUND bands peharps they were not into that scene. just they did was to rip off music and fashion style from others obscure bandsof that time. im sorry i cant talk english to tell more. have you ever heard from these bands? all of them are pre VU - 13TH FLOOR ELEVATORS LOLLIPOP SHOPPE FALLEN ANGELS THE BAROQUES DRUIDS OF STONEHENGE LOVE SEEDS CHOCOLATTE WATCHBAND GOLDEN DAWN LOST AND FOUND AUTOSALVAGE etc

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • @rochebraziliano Actually I have heard of most of those bands thank you... there are a couple that I haven't but I can not look them up as there are no commas in your sentence, preventing me from telling one from the other. As for your argument, it is weak is all I can really say. Every band that ever was has been influenced by bands before their time... what exactly is your point? The VU made great music and that is all that should matter. Each to their own I guess.

  • Comment removed

  • @rochebraziliano I am sorry but it is simply to hard to have an argument with someone you can't even understand. You can keep on hating a good band for what ever reasons you see fit, It doesn't really effect me. I listen to music because I enjoy it. I don't let silly things like that effect it. As I have said, good music is good music and that is all that really matters. Good day to you sir.

  • @rochebraziliano I can't listen to the Velvets with all that bullshit clouding the screen. Go troll bieber fans, or post bieber comments on lynard skynard videos, I hear they get mad at that shit.

"They didn't know, they couldn't make the scene. She had to run run run....."

  • @PandaBearJelly Im not sying VU its bad music. just its they did rework music of underground and obscure bands it and make it like background music for LOU REED poetry and PREACHER like singing way.

  • @rochebraziliano I know and appreciate all the bands you mention, but you need to do some research on the VU. They were around well before most all the bands you mention. I know, cause I was there! All the bands then knew eachother and influenced eachother. Then they added their own creative elements to be unique. One thing about the 60's psychedelic underground, if you sounded too similar to a band that's already had some success, nobody listened to you. You had to be unique to survive.

  • did you ever heard on about first LOU REED band THE BEATS? i think you should not believe everything you read on about LOU REED as really hes overrated by the midia. VU did play FOLK SUNSHINE POP GARAGE BRITISH INVASION PSYCHEDELIC and everything else so whats its music that VU did are masterminds and that people says they did influence over others bands ? response : its they did use that music genres into an experimental way and also getting it as background music for LOU REED poetry

  • @rochebraziliano I was 16 years old in 1964 and was already following underground music. I saw VU many times in the 60's... all in small clubs. I WAS THERE!!! They had been around and experimenting with it for years. But it was when John Cale joined that it became unique AND listenable. And I do not judge music based on what is written about it... you are being very presumptuous! Please don't respond because you are too difficult to understand... even if you knew what you are talking about!!

  • Comment removed

  • @rockgardner thats great ofyou being there. can you tell me which year you first ever saw VU? and which others bands you did see??

  • @rockgardner look into my channel for video and more informations on about THE BEATS that its a FAKE BEATLES band with featuring LOU REED and J CALE.

  • If there was music in Mars maybe it would be like this....It's just so out of this fuckin' planet shit
