Frank Mir's the real deal.. with the exception of Roy Nelson, have any of his other fights gone to a decision? This guy does what every fan wants their fighters to do: finish the fight, or get finished trying.

It was only after losing to Vera that he made the decision to rededicate himself to the sport and get back into his champ ways. If you look into it further you can see Frank had some real troubled times in the years after the crash and the fact he was able to come back and become champion once again may show why he has a bandwagon.

Lesnar is helped by sheer size. But the truth is Lesnar has not proved himself yet. He's beaten a out of shape gate keeper and an old man are 2 of his noteworthy wins. Albeit, beating Mir was a step in the right direction. But he has to keep that up for him to get legitimate respect.
If Mir is looking to model his style on GSP then he's got the right idea but I don't think he's smart enough on his feet to make that style work. Brock is pushing forward and he goes for a knee. That's just silly. GSP is never caught off balance and has excellent footwork. Unless Mir can improve in that dept then he will struggle against wrestlers and strikers with decent takedown defense. Kongo seems to struggle with takedowns so we'll see.

Kongo has no ground game, and Mir took advantage of that quickly.
Lesnar does have a ground game, and he displayed that last time with Mir.
Mir's only chance is standing up. On the ground Lesnar will overpower him as he did last time.

If Mir is looking to model his style on GSP then he's got the right idea but I don't think he's smart enough on his feet to make that style work. Brock is pushing forward and he goes for a knee. That's just silly. GSP is never caught off balance and has excellent footwork. Unless Mir can improve in that dept then he will struggle against wrestlers and strikers with decent takedown defense. Kongo seems to struggle with takedowns so we'll see.

He is coming back Mid 2010, if he does. First they need to make sure he doesnt need further surgery. Should he need that he'll have to take more rest. When he's done healing he'll be conditioning, and finally training again.

Try looking at his record, where he beat Nogueira, Coleman, Arlovski, Sylvia, Sobral, etc, who were big names in the UFC, most of them later becoming HW champions, and even entering UFC hall of fame. Btw, any HW in Strikeforce can beat Lesnar. Lesnar would stand 0 chance against Rogers. Lesnar is actually recovering from surgery. He had Diverticulitis and is still recovering. Don't expect Lesnar to be back until mid 2010, because of healing and training.
It sucks, it really does being unable to train and all that. But at least as his trainer has mentioned before he gets to spend time with his family and kids because he trained fucking 8 hours a day.
