  • great song! : )

  • i bought a fulltone fulldrive 2 and an mxr 10 band eq for this amp got them today , i'll let u know how it goes , played it for like 40 minutes and it sounds promising (i got jj's in the preamp (think the tung sol? it had were better for clean)

  • @BayouBluesMan

Sounds good mate, I thought the tun sol's had a bit of a mid range dip, I like their sound, the JJ's have a bit more drive. I have the ECC803's in mine, they are a touch brighter than the standard ECC83, probably around mid way between the tung sol and the JJ.

I am looking forward to a video of your sound

  • @SimonNQ i'ain't got a proper mike or good recording setup yet , i did a gig with the H2L last night (fulltone overdrive 2 mosfet) i carried the thing in the rain (covered), it played on the triode mode full power (eq-less channel) for 3 hours , not a single problem and rocked the house, i'm thinking of getting a les paul custom for this thing what do u think? cause i've got a feeling it loves single pickups

  • @SimonNQ

    voxac30 h2l +fulltone fulldrive+american deluxe strat hss

youtube.com/watch?v=6VqMsAB2r_I&feature=related amp running 3/4 on the triode mode

youtube.com/watch?v=-HsfeQYg5eY&feature=related regular video cam though the clean part of this amp is the best i've ever heard , the overdrive though is missing some frequencies i really dig , jtm 45 ones...

  • @BayouBluesMan tungsol for sure

  • @ADOPTmeBITCH

Great buy mate :), I know you will be very happy :).

Yes the JJ's have a bit more gain, both the pre-amp tubes and power tubes. I am currently running some of the new Mullard re-issues, they drop the gain a bit and are not quite as sweet as the ECC803's, but have a touch more bite to the sound. The JJ's seem to have a more even sound etc.

  • Mmmm gratz. Beautiful jam. You say it's not perfect, but it's more perfect than an overproduced recording, which is perfect in my book. I like to know that there is someone actually playing behind an instrument, so a little lack of perfection is actually perfect.

I came here in search of the ECC803s tone, as I wait for a shipment to come. They (along with combo of guitar and amp etc) are a great combination.

  • @BandWagonDisaster

    Thanks mate much appreciated :).

Love the ECC803's, one thing to look out for is that they can get a bit microphonic/noisey especially in a combo. I use the damper rings to reduce a lot of this noise, in fact I run the dampers on every tube except the Rectifier Tube, no point as it doesn't do any amplification etc...

  • Thank you. Make more demos of this amp please. Just have to say Ive become infatuated with the sound of these handwired voxes. Just ordered the ac15 heritage and am awaiting arrival. Id really love to own one of these mahogany amps as well, not even sure if there are any new ones left to be had.

  • @robrippen

Yeah might be a bit hard to find, only 500 were made of each AC15 and AC30. The H2's sound pretty much the same, maybe a slight difference but nothing major :).

I am extremely impressed with the amp, not just the sound but it looks killer as well. Everytime someone walks into my music room the first thing they see is the VOX !!! hahaha.

  • How does this compare with hayseed 30, two rock, top hat, divided by 13, bad cat?

  • To be honest I have not heard any of those amps, I have heard about them and they all have a great reputation.

I love the sound of my 'Voxy Lady', but I also have a couple of other amps as well. I also have a Framus Ruby Riot and a Ceriatone 2204 and Framus 2x12 with V30's in it. Each amp definately has it's own voice and I love the sound of them all. Only you can decide if this is the amp for you.

  • Wow, that was absolutely awesome.

I was youtubing "ECC803s" because i wanted to hear some sound samples. And thats just what i got.

Awesome tone, awesome playing. I bow to you.

  • Gee, thanks mate :). I really like the tone of the ECC803's, just remember that because of the long plates they can be a bit microphonic, especially in combo's. I use silicon damper rings on all of my valves as this reduces the microphoncis dramatically

  • Hi, I also have and H2L and H2. Great amps, but loud! Are you happy with the Hot Plate? I tried Weber s attenuator, but it didn t work for me...

  • Hey Mate, I don't mind the hotplate, gives a few really useful options, especially the load and line level output. Lets me turn an amp into a preamp. There is definately a difference in tone between attenuator and no attenuator. However the tone is still pretty good as you can hear in the video. remember this was recorded at extremely low volume levels, however the amp was running flat out!.

I also have a Tom Sholtz power soak, but it tends to accentuate the mids a bit more.

    Hope that helps

  • sweet sound man. i got a question tho is there a differant between this one you have and the regulaer ac30h2 beside the wood used in the case

  • No the amplifier sections are the same. The only difference is that mine is running a different set of valves, other than that the amplifier sections are exactly the same. I also have silicon valve dampers on each tune which vastly reduces any "ring" from the sound. I have not been able to compare the AC30H2L with a normal H2, but I suspect that any differences would be extremely subtle :) and more than likely due to the wood as suggested.

  • thanks for the info man ive been trying to figure out the one to choose couse i found one of the h2l online but never got to try one and my friend has a h2 and i really like the sound so i might just go witht that one couse it a lillter bit cheaper lol

  • The next video I will do will be with a greg fryer treble booster as well, wait until you hear that tone!. The treble booster slams the input with a 36db boost. Been extremely busy at work lately so havn't had much time, but things are starting to slow down a bit now, so keep an eye out!

  • great playing ! nice sound too !

    keep playín !

    greetings from sweden

  • Thx mate, much appreciated :)

  • yes mate, remember the EF86 is quite a high gain tube, however there are still a few things to try, first is to substitute something like a 12at7 or 12au7 into the phase inverter. This will drive the output tubes a bit less and give a tad more headroom. Or you can talk to EuroTubes about some lower gain EL84's for the power section. If a 12ax7 is 100%, then a 12at7 will be about 80% and a 12au7 will be about 20%. These estimations are pretty rough :).

  • Sounds ok ,but why all the details?

    Just 5 **,

    greetings '

    Joop

  • Just in case anyone wants to find out how it was created :)

  • Couldn't agree more :) We privileged few

  • Got this amp today! AMAZING!

  • Congrats mate welcome top the vox family !! First thing to do is a complete re-valve. I use a full set of JJ's in mine, 3x ECC803's, JJ Ef86 and JJ EL84's and a JJ GZ34. The GZ34 is a MUST change, the JJ GZ34 is a much better tube in my opinion. Have fun :)

  • Yeahhh!!! absolutely 5\5

Great sound but great groove too!!! :D

    ... beatiful Simon, thanks!! ;)

  • Thanks Luigi, just a good way to kill 30 minutes or so :)

  • Sounds amazing.

  • It might be Chinese made with Chinese Celestions in it, but I strongly agree, the sound really is amazing. Absolutely love it. The Strat helps as well of course :).

  • Only the Boss CS-3, which was turned on when indicated in the video. Other than that just guitar and amp, and a little bit of echo added afterwards. All of the overdrive is from the power tubes running at maximum.

  • did you use any pedals?

  • Thanks mate, more soon :) Love the tone of the AC30 play it every chance I get :).
