Final Crisis was really made for the hardcore comic reader who knows a lot of backstories and is willing to buy all the tie-ins. I wish comic books were written to be more accessible to the average Joe.  Then, maybe, comics wouldn't be such a niche. Wasn't there a time when every kid read superhero comics?

Not just superhero comics, war comics, humour comics, horror comics, sci-fi, fantasy and more.

but then comics were in every corner shop and comics were affordable. I used to buy 10 comics a week when I was between 6 and 12 years old, those comics were all british weeklies like Battle, Warlord, Scream, Dandy, Beano, Victor, Tiger, Buster, Roy of the Rovers, 2000AD and more.....now the only weekly left is 2000AD :(

I think Ellis Planetary is one of those titles like LoEG, that has a lot of pulp fiction references, in addition to a lot of comic lore and homages. I was able to enjoy each issue on its own, but I found reading summaries and explanations online made each issue better. I love the title and am looking forward to the final issuewhenever that comes out.

That is a great observation trieze! I also really enjoyed Planetary and appreciated the many layers Ellis put in the story, but was able to enjoy it simply on the surface of what it was. Yes, reading all the supplementary stuff online made the stories that much deeper, but you didn't have to read them to get it.

Yeah, Ellis also says that the script to the last issue is finished. Its just up to Cassady now to get it done.

I'll admit after rereading the whole thing FC ain't terrible, it's fun if erratic.

Morrison just dropped the ball on this one, I still got faith in dude though. He did give us All Star Superman after all.

Wouldn't it be cool if Darkseid's Omega Beams could kill anyone (including Superman) with one blast? That would make him so much more *dangerous.* It would be awesome if Darkseid took out Superboy-Prime.

In my short 1 1/2 years as a comic book fan, I have noticed one thing. It is really hard to decide what is truly good or not. If there is one argument for even the most amazing book, there will be at least 10 arguments against it. It's all about selecting what flavor you like best and hoping the book doesn't suck no matter what you like. I love comics, but experimentation is the most expensive part if you want to try and find out what you like. Sweet new intro guys.

It's all about personal tastes IMO. I know that we like to rag on some books as 'crap' and other books as 'great,' but it's just a matter of opinion. Jose and I like to express ours and entertain you guys, but it doesn't mean that we're right and everyone else is wrong.

Hm. Well, neither of us are represented by either hero, really. But if you had to assign us each a hero, Jose would be Supes for his DC loyalties and I would be Spidey since I am a confessed Marvel Zombie.

Yeah, we were hanging out with Jesus the other day and He and Jose totally got into it. Jose kept yelling JESUS CHRIST! JESUS CHRIST! And Jesus was like, 'yeah? What?'

I guess Jesus was reading Jose's copy of Agents of atlas and bent the cover.

And yes Elliot, I completely disagree with you. I also disagree with Jesus in that he thought Secret Invasion was the better of the two summer events.

If Final Crisis had been 12 issues and not had the "Crisis" label it would probably have been better. Too much stuff happened off-panel and people appeared and disappeared without seeming to have much point aside from Morrison thinking they're cool.

I mean Morrison did write the best comics of the last couple of years in All-Star Superman so its not like he's terrible. I think with Final Crisis, Morrison was trying to be Alan Moore but he just dosen't have Moores technical writing skill.

hey guys, just wanted to let you know that i discovered you last week while searching for a fucking explanation for final crisis and i stumbled across your vid. I have to say i agreed with every point you guys made so i checked out some of your other vids. I'm not sure which one it was, but you guys tore into brian bendis who everyone else seems to love for some reason, since then i have been hooked! Nice to see someone tell it like it is without sugar coating the truth. Keep up the good work!
