@kubix79 i always thought it was because he was the main character. for some reason, he seems to be able to beat his opponents despite SEVERE differences in power levels (ichigo beat Kenpachi, and yet, when Kenpachi fought the blind captain, and the dog captain, he barely even felt their most powerful attacks)

@hiimquinn honestly they aren't really so much more powerful than ichigo, I know it might seem that way but it's mostly do to the fact that he can't control his power's the same way his opponents have. Grimmjow seems to have mastered most of his abilities a master in hand to hand combat, Ulquiorra seems to have complete control over his powers, except for his second ressurrection form. And plus ichigo has more spiritual power than most of the people in this series, which is cont..

@hiimquinn Which is the only reason he was able to live through battles against more experienced fighters. I8 am sure if he knew how to control his powers more he could exert much more spirritual pressure, same with kenpachi. But kenpachi seems slightly more experienced than ichigo in terms of spirritual control. Also when aizen evolved ichigo was the only shinigami able to sense aizen's power, while everyone else, even his dad couldn't.

@Ashamedofmyself Kenpachi was still holding back even in the end he could have used kendo and finished him off, second he was still standing after ichigo had fallen. and ichigo didn't use his mask against nnoitra but I don't think he could have beaten nnoitra anyway. Ichigo may have the second most highest spiritual pressure(assuming the commander in his bankai form is the strongest) but he's not as experienced as the other captains.

Well Ichigo was dead tired after the Grimmjow fight and Nnoitra was at full power. I'm pretty sure Vizard Ichigo can take Nnoitra. Also Nnoitra claimed he was stronger than Grimmjow, which might very well be true considering he was Espada 5 and Grim-6.But Grim was not afraid to challenge Ulquiora who is number 4. And lastly Kenpachi and Ichigo ae both alot stronger in the Hueco Mundo ark than here. Hollow Ichigo can take Kenpachi.

Seriously though, at that point Zaraki has been the only Captain without Bankai, or even Shikai. After the battle he starts trying to talk to his sword, and rumor had it he knows his Shikai some time later.

And if that were true, Zaraki + Shikai power boost would definitely put him in the lead again. But that's my opinion, of course.
