  • Louden Swain has the power of Dick's Burgers flowing through his veins.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to the Bigfoot Tavern.

  • We all know that when they stopped filming and the two caters were horsing around, Shute kicked his ass...

  • Hahaha I looooove this movie!

  • who the hel lcarries a log up a flight of stairs

  • "Hey Shute!"

    "Yea....do i know you?"

"John Smith...I just moved here, uhh have a good day"

  • @grindtildeath John Smith could have beaten Brian Shute, easily. Good tactic for scaring him!

  • @redbulldog lol whatever shute would have wrecked louden swain in real life, but then again louden swain would have been arrested for attempted rape in real life too.

  • @grindtildeath Louden Swain had the power of the Columbia flowing through his veins.

  • Shute would have banged Carla the first night she stayed at the house. Swain puts the pussy on the pedestal and gets caught up in an emotion mess. Shute 4daWinn...

  • Joe Albi Stadium.

  • One slip and he's done...WHAMMY!

  • Love this movie. Watch it almost everyday.

  • "Jake Ryan" plays Kuch....LMFAO!!

  • @ohmixmaster Why don't you do a bit of research on Michael Schoeffling who played Kuch. The guy was an actual collegiate wrestler. A good one at that.

  • @Mainsail76 I'm fully aware of that. I was quoting an earlier poster..........and laughing at it.

  • @ohmixmaster My apologies.

  • @Mainsail76 :) accepted...:)

  • @Mainsail76 michael schoeffling was a marginal wrestler in h.s. and went to Temple Univ, but only wrestled for a semester.he sells furniture/makes furniture in Pennsylvania

  • @littlefuzzer Ok. I guess you know more about the guy than I do. Maybe you know him personally. Good for you. My point was that the guy was an actual wrestler, and wasn't just a teen romance actor playing the part. He actually knew something about the sport. My original comment was intended for ohmixmaster because I mistakenly thought he was making a dig at the idea of a "teen heart throb" actor playing the role of "Kuch." I was pointing out that the guy had actually wrestled before.

  • oohhh i always thought his name was spelled Shoot. like a takedown. wouldve been better lol

  • Anyone else curious as to why Shute looks gargantuan compared to Louden and yet it's Louden that has to cut weight?

  • @Kruezoraxe because its a movie. anyone who knows anything knows Shute weighs about 181-186

  • I love how shute is wearing the classic 1985 "nut hugger" shorts in combination with the classic 1985 striped socks pulled up to his knees!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They should require all NBA players to wear these shorts. Nut huggers or go home, YEEEEEEE HHHAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ctluba are you suggesting that the current homophobic saggy nigger shorts of today are better than shorts that dont flop around your knees when you try to move?

  • Shute's a damn beast!

  • How did he get the log to the stadium?

  • In real life SHUTE would have wiped the floor with SWAIN!

First off Swain is lanky and tall, NOT good for a wrestler, SHUTE was short and compact and more muscular and stronger.

Also...SWAIN would have been weak from losing so much weight from barely eating and being Anemic like they said in the movie......but Davey slaying Goliath is good for a film! LOL!

  • @455Transam

There are many very successful wrestlers who are lanky. It just makes for a different style. Google John Smith.

  • @455Transam Louden explains to Carla earlier in the movie that he's a good wrassler because he uses his opponent strength and size against them! :-)

  • @455Transam just like how in real life a 5' 6" man couldn't possibly make the nba and slam dunk (spud webb)...and just like how in real life the most vicious player ever to play special teams in the NFL couldn't be a 5' 9" 180 lb. white guy drafted in the 9th round (steve tasker)...and just like how in real life the most dominant player to ever grace the NHL ice happens to have the physique of someone who should have been selling copier machines (wayne gretzky)...I love the underdog

  • @455Transam

Ed Ruth; Quentin Wright, Cael Sanderson - all compact wrestlers - right?

  • Brian Shute the American version of Ivan Drago!

  • Thats one 168 pound bad ass.

  • Anyone know where I can download this song from?

  • goosebumps.

  • 4 people already got their asses kicked by Big Shute.

  • Shute is the kind of wrestler you see and then say --- "Fuck it.....I'm taking up bowling"

  • Think you'll make weight? (Big Log)

    Oh, I don't know...I hope so.

Me too (walks away *thump* *thump*)

  • I love this part!

  • I always wished lowden just walked down to shute and pushed the big tree off of him so he would fall down the bleechers

    lol

  • Best scene in the movie. That guy Shute was a total badass. Should have won the match in the end. But then again, it's a movie.

    Great flick, either way. Motivating!

  • don't let all those muscles and that haircut scare you...KICK HIS ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ahhh my favorite scene in this whole movie. love it. I gotta say.. shute has got amazing legs.

  • Fuck the 80's look at the white indian.

  • I think Louden dropped a coupla pounds the moment he saw Shute .... :)

  • @dvgale LMAO! Exactly

  • it's a freudian thing

  • Shute is bad ass : x

  • @Eddie2446 Good try eddie. Hey, you old bastard, your mother just shit, it's time to eat old man. Pick out your peanuts prick.

  • Movies like this will never surface again. Just like the music of the 80's. 1 good song for every 75 made. Movies are still good, but we need more like this.

  • Careful Louden

  • 3 people wont make the weight

  • Joe Albi Stadium in Spokane, Washington.

  • the brock lesnar of the HS

  • back when I went to school I would walk up stairs like Shute but I had 10 logs on my shoulders but he only had 1, what a wuss.

  • @Eddie2446 No you faggot. You had 10 joints in your mouth and ten up your asshole. It's pricks like you that wish God graced you with the slightest ability other than to shit in your own pants. FAGGOT!

  • @Eddie2446 10?? Is your name Goldberg? lol

  • I worked with Frank and Gary on the "Conan" show on the Universal Studios Tour. Both were always suprised and gracious about people recognizing them from that movie so many years later. Any time we stopped for a drink or meal some wrestler who had seen the movie would ask for a picture or autograph. Both are great guys!

  • @MrGgbrown Who's Frank and Gary?

  • @MrGgbrown Frank Jasper has a holistic Health center. Sent him an email through the website about his role in VQ...guy promptly shot back an email thanking me for remembering him as Brian Shute. Was intrigued that people still remember that role.

  • If desire, hard work, and sacrifice translated into talent, I would have been world class!!!

  • wow thats krazy lol

  • "Careful Louden" Lol!

  • @Lousypenguin I have watched that scene a thousand times and that line always has me cracking up. I love it.

  • how the fuck does schute way 160 he looks like my teams 89 pounder

  • @bigbirdgrappler60 one of our 135s has muscles exactly like shutes... although hes really short lol

  • 112 in Iowa. Fuck yearh

  • 285 :) lol 6th in state as a freshmen

  • @stj052693 Best H.S. Heavyweight in the Country is Jimmy Lawson from Manchester, NJ. 3x State Champ. Only the 2nd heavyweight in NJ ever to win 3 state titles. The other one did it in 1940. Too bad he is going to play football next year.

  • hey SHUUUTTTE

Louden was an absolute wimp. C'mon, there's no way he could've won in the end against brian.

  • he cut 28 pounds he was a state qualifier the year before if you watched the beginning of the movie so he's not a wimp he's just not schute

  • PA is far and away the best state

  • One of the most awesome scenes in 80's movies.

    ....."I hope so too"

  • hahahaah

    my favorite scene

my favorite line is " i hope so too"

  • lol @ 0:52. modine was like, "oops. fuck"

  • that log exercise is actually really good if you are a wrestler.. gives you fucking good ass balance muscles to stay up on your feet... and not on your back

  • sick.wat a beast...all the wrestlers i kno would rather be a "schute" than a "louden" in real life...lol

  • so shute must have been what lebron james was in high school

  • Brian Shute the Ivan Drago of high school wrestling.

  • lmfao justin

  • Its ironic that Kuch was a gold medalist in freestlye but had to lose.

  • Shute was one of the alltime high school badasses (movies anyway) along with Charles Jefferson (Fast Times At Ridgemont High) and

Perry "LEAVE THE KID ALONE" (The Wanderers). All these guys had to be super seniors.

  • Funny cause Forest whitaker that played Charles Jefferson in Fast times was also in Vision Quest!!

  • tHanks 15scottie,I forgot bout him being in this movie

  • No problem hun!

  • I watched it this weekend and I kept saying to my self "that skinny brotha looks a lot like Forest"...saw his name in the credits.

  • Hey Shute!! SHUTE!!

nice socks! ok. well, see ya!! have a good workout!! stay hydrated sweetie! Its hotout here!! bye!!!!

  • That can't be good for you back.............his coach would shit his pants if he knew ...OH WAIT THIS IS JUST A MOVIE......my bad

  • You've obviously never wrestled before

  • Nah....why bring wrestling tights to a gun fight....just bring a gun

  • Why do you say that...OH..You must be setting there in your wrestling tights...Sorry..didnt mean to offened....and I bet they are pink

  • we say that because we aren't pussies and we're actually out there on the mats. I bet you're some fat ass piece of shit who hasn't seen his tiny dick in years and doesn't have the energy to find it. So do us all a favor and get off the damn internet and do something with yourself

  • Boy do you have it wrong....I can rip head and shit down your throat...unlike you fart sack ,I work out every day and run 21 miles a week...go back to your dark room full of black lite posters and pot and dream on dick head...dream on

  • Really? You just quoted a movie. Impressive. I'm in high school. 6 classes. 5th hr weight training and 6th hour interscholastic athletics, plus 3 hours of wrestling every day after school. That comes out to 5 straight hours of intense physical activity. You really think you can top that? 3 miles a day is nothing. Wrestling is the only 1v1 sport in HS, and easily the most difficult. It takes serious balls which you don't have to wrestle. So you can go back to masturbating in your moms basement

  • I wrestle for my high school too. But u sound extremely dedicated. What weight class do u wrestle at. I wrestle at 150.

  • Last year I was at 130, this year it's looking like 135 or 140

  • I live in NY. Our team captain, Joey Hauser is actually kind of well-known. Look him up...

  • i was at 103 im at 112 this year

  • 152 wooooo!

  • 140 and ill still pin you WHOOOOOAAAAAAAAA

  • lol, i accept your challenge what school ya go to man?

  • lol im in cal what state you in

  • Man, that shute guy ain't joking around with that log, nice friend you'd like to have if you're gonna have a bondfire. There probably is some Freudian thing going on there somewhere. If I were Loudin, right then and there, i'd told him there was no way I was making the weight and that I was probably moving and taking up lacrosse.

  • LOL how is that guy in high school?

I love how in the 80s movies all the students looked like 30 year olds

  • Spoiler alert: After his loss to Swain, Brian Shute changes his name to Brock Lesnar and becomes the UFC Heavyweight Champion.

  • I think you must have meant, Brian Shute, who is climbing the stairs with a log on his back.......

  • Whats the name of that song? Its a cool song and thats the best way to sike somone out.

  • Wish I knew the name of the song, myself. It's a piece by Tangerine Dream, but that's all I know.

  • yea i was like on napster and i couldnt find it.

  • @Comair485

It's called "Shute Versus Louden" by Tangerine Dream. It's a 8 minute song.

  • I think it's funny how he looks over at him after he says he hopes he makes the weight and says "I hope so too." and returns back to his routine with the log. Louden probably needed a change of pants.

  • Bleachers with a log....great for the hammies and quads on the way up...but GOD the poor knees on the way down...OUCH!!!!

  • Chute looks exactly like freakin Sean Sherk dude

  • Love the title to the video. Lol.... Classic.

  • "Do I know you?"

  • I'm sure there is a freudian thing at play here somewhere

  • 80s movie rock

look at shute how can this guy possibly be in high school he looks like hes 30

  • Apparently Frank Jasper was in college at the time the movie was filming.

  • Louden Swain is the fuckin' man! no balls... no glory!

  • i remember this sceen in the movie was so awsome, they dont quite make movies like this anymore they just slap them together

  • That's it. I'm bringing short shorts and striped tube socks back into fashion.

  • lol

  • thers probably some freudian overtones in shute carrying his wood

  • there's probably some Freudian overtones that you would phrase it like that.

  • Got wood much?

  • Why is it hot out in the middle of wrestling season?

  • hehehe

  • my dad named me Louden after this movie. How i wish hed named me Shute instead.

  • Shute lost.

  • shute was a tank, the name louden sounds like a frenchy who does show choir

    No offense t5y665yrty56

  • I remember this movie. That shute guy was pretty much a badass. Yep, once you see a guy doing bleachers w/ a huge piece of timber on his shoulders, it's time to move aside. But there is a caveat, Louden got laid, so that's a bonus. So him naming you Louden outweighed some dude carring a large piece of wood.

    Only the young!

    Thanks,

    ~D

  • That was the problem with Swain. The guy nailed the hot 25 year old and then beat the best wrestler there was(in that town at least). The guy PEAKED AT 18. He probably went to college and got into drugs and booze and all he talked about was good things were for him in his senior year. He's wrestling Todd Marinovich, He now works at Costco

  • Yes but isnt that everyone's goal (go to college and get wasted)? Cerealy though, what do wrestlers do after high school other than go to college on schlorship (if they're lucky) and wrestle, and probably no live up to the high school record. High school, while it is commenly overlooked, in the older years are the actual gold years of out lives...

  • bigd is right, highschool was the best years of my life, university is pretty dope too, but its gay cause i dont have all my friends with me there. i remember goin to the cafe seeing like 30 of my friends. highschool is the bomb, LIVE IT UP!

  • You mean this wasn't a true story??

  • Dude, I would think that your dad considers it an honor to name you after Louden Swain. The guy set a goal achieved it, won the championship and got some nookie in the process. Trust me...it's a good thing. You should thank him one day.

  • wow this guy is a beast... i'm wrestling 112.. should i go up? its my first year of wrestling?

  • go for it!

  • no dont go up

  • This is possible the best scene of all-time in any movie period.

    ljbh

  • Awesome scene, so fucking intense. "I hope so too". Louden just about shit his pants. Shute was a scary beast.

  • The look on his face was priceless

  • Well, it's up there with the best. But don't forget that Top Gun came out the next year.

  • FUCK , that guys a fUCKING BEAST

  • Going up would be tough, but god damn, going down would be a sonuvabitch.

  • one bad step and he's fucked

  • what kind of hair cut does shute have??

  • High and Tight.

  • High and Tight, like his gym shorts. :D

  • Brian Shute is just a Bad Ass !!!

  • woah if I did this I would have been a greater high school wrestler

  • I have always wanted to do what shute does here, running up the stadium steps with a tree log or a punch bag on my back but my college doesnt have a stadium.

  • That guy is a beast.

  • At what age can you bulk up muscle?

    i'm 14 by the way.

  • You can start now, I started wrestling at this age in High school. Stick to a low set, high intensity routine that emphasizes the squat, the deadlift, the chin up, the dip, etc. (always try to add weight to the bar in strict form, eat like a horse, and you will gain muscle.). Don't get all hooked on how much you can bench, or doing arm work (you will gain way more muscle by doing the big exercises). Good luck and make sure you don't put on too much weight for your wrestling weight class.

  • You're old enough to start lifting.

  • kinda reminds me of "drago" in rocky IV

  • There you go!

  • tell me brian shute isn't 26 lol

  • And A college wrestler....No High school kid Ive ever seen has legs like that!...Great movie though.

  • there was a kid who was 135 state champ for california that had bigger legs

  • awesome movie but y is louden the one who has to lose weight. shoot is so much bigger.

  • but swain is taller

  • That scene, and the one with the "notes on the Shute/McLain match" put Shute into the stratosphere of "opponents you do NOT want to fuck with"! Great movie!

  • cooch is the best wrestling name ever

  • Shute and Louden are roughly the same size, but Shute clearly has much...much more muscle on his frame.

I don't really see how they even in the same weight class. Muscle is dense....and weighs more.

  • Shute was the most bad ass movie jock I can recall from my childhood

  • what movie is this?

  • Vision Quest! Awesome movie. I need to find it on DVD; my VHS copy is shot.

  • thnx dude. it looks like a good movie. im in wrestling and theres only like two movies about that out including this one.

  • i looked all over i found it at block buster i dont think best buy or any place like that carries it

  • Kid looked like he was about to get eaten!

  • He was.
