  • This turd always preaches that multiracialism is good for Britain. Where does he live? In a quiet village in Cornwall, with all white population. Why doesnt this piece of shit go and live in Elephant and Castle with all the niggers running wild? You know why.

  • I don't about the culture of "the right" in England, but in US, conservatism and Christianity are closely tied, which I find ironic, as it is the right which supports war most fervently and denounces aid for the welfare of the impoverished (food stamps, free lunch, etc), both of which contradict the teachings of Christ. I'm not a Christian myself, but the hypocrisy is nauseating. Has anyone noticed this kind of paradox in England? Just curious.

  • Give it a rest Billy, your everyman style is busted. Keep comuting from your mansion in Dorset to inner city London and then into a cockney for a day.

  • Amen!

  • That sounds all very nice but what the hell does our country have without financial services? Textiles, shipbuilding, chemicals, mining? No, this country is rich because of financial services. The mentality in this country is ridiculous. In Singapore and many Asian countries that are dependent on finance there have been many recessions but people are not calling for the expulsion of the banks that provide billions of pounds of tax revenues and jobs. UK, time face facts you are a finance nation.

  • loved billy bragg sine the eightys the bankers and the media do really run this country

our goverments are quick enough to go to war with nations and kill civilians over rumours of wmd but tell a banker to stop his bonuses he'll threatenen to leave and the goverment bows down daiblue71

  • this is the same billy bragg who voted lib dem cheers mate no thanks a fucking lot

  • really makes you wonder how being against a society of fairness is a bad thing. who are these people who come on these social cites to denounce fairness and equity? who are these people who think inequity and poverty is just a consequence of a system they refuse to change? where do these people come from and what is their agenda? anonymity is their best friend.

they call money for the rich 'growing the economy' while money for the poor is 'class warfare'. i say we give it to them.

  • goldenbanjo, all he is saying is that the producers of the wealth of this country, want a fair deal for there labour and to be able to provide for those that can no longer contribute. The work shy and lazy would have no place in my society,we could not and would not allow it.Taxes are a necessary evil, but administrated fairly and equally would work.

  • Billy Bragg-Middle class hypocrite. And don"t get me started on fucking Guardian readers.

  • @regvarney bet you read The Sun varney, and i bet you used to love that good ol' News of the World, told you what you wanted to hear ey?

  • @djblackadder And I bet the Guardian,Indie and all those middle class ,left wing publications tell you everything YOU want to hear eh? Twat.

  • we need a million of him in every nation

  • When are we putting our foot down! both Brit and US

  • @edwardtarr1 im working class and i dont care, the government can go to hell if it wants me to carry ID cards and be a slave to the state

  • @edwardtarr1 left wing right wing wake up ! the fabian society and the upper class (including some of the royals) supported eugenics and wanted socialism to control people

  • 0:50 I didn't reach out to help the banks. It was the government who made the ordinary people do this. This country is run for the benefit of the wealthy. (:o(

  • Great Speech

  • why am i unsuprised to see something like this on the guardian's youtube channel...

bunch of idiots. it's the left's fault taxes are so high in the first place. as well as taxes on fuel so heavy that it screws me over every time i go to the pump.

part of me wants a socialist country and capitalism takes a back seat for once. then we will all see how shafted we get. see how far the hand of the people get then when we're locked in collective poverty.

  • who runs this country? the unelected marxists in the EU, the fabian socialists (who supported hitler by the way when he killed 600,000 disabled children), the new world order runs this country who else? or is that to right wing for you commies

  • Socialism causes these problems with greed in the state sector and high taxes causing massive unemployment. The banks are regulated by socialist politicians and they failed.

  • @warriorprince1010 What Socialist politicians?

  • @Thackerism Unemployment Brown, darling, ed balls ALL held power and regulated banks, they all failed the people.

  • @warriorprince1010 Brown, Ed Balls ect are not Socialists... its called new labour a watered down shell of what socialism should be. You are very ill informed if you think they are socialists.

  • @Thackerism new labour's not even a watered down version of socialism, its a logical outcome from an undemocratic social-democratic party which seeks to implement human policies within capitalism, rather than abolishing it and those who gain their power from it

  • @Thackerism Blair and David Miliband, Milburn were new labour. Brown was old labour, a socialist. He hid millions on benefits so they would vote labour every 4 years, pure evil.

  • i agree no tax from me either theiving rich wont get a penny from me again theres plenty of everthing in Britain to go round i is gunna get my share

  • smash! the reds !

  • what a dick

  • Top Guy

  • socialism simply will never work down to the simple principle that people will always be wlling to piss on the little man to improve thier own live, not nice but reality. the rich of this country are already looking to fuck off cause they are taxed too much. sending our buisness and industries into the shit. tax the rich any more and people like us will end up more fucked because of it

  • @gunners4life123 the rich dont pay taxes. they can afford accountants who find every loophole imaginable. hence our deficit.

  • God Bless you Billy Bragg!

  • socialism never got any country anywhere and never will

  • @gunners4life123 Socialism has never been given a chance, like Capitalism, to work. Capitalism has never worked - that's why we're all in the predicament that we are, with poor and extremely poor people the majority, and the majority of wealth with the top 1%. Socialism is being tested in Venezuela - we have yet to see if it will work. But the U.S. is doing everything it can to prevent it's success - just as it does around the world. Doesn't help having people like you with negative attitudes.

  • @milackk7 - you are an idiot because many countries have socialism in many forms - including America.

  • @Grosflam Stop calling people names simply because your opinion differs. Socialism does not exist successfully yet, and that's a fact. to the poster below - taxing the rich is one thing - reclaiming the money stolen by absurd financial markets is totally different. Rich and super rich are not the same. Top 1% holding majority of wealth is a failure of Capitalism and fraudulent markets. You WILL benefit from reclaiming this money.

  • @gunners4life123 i think sir, that you have confused socialism with libertarianism, which has never and will never work.

  • socialism never got any country anywhere and never will

  • I wish I had been there to listen and support this great man.

There must be many ways to keep up the pressure on bankers and general lard arsed fat cats..... It's just so wrong, these people are laughing at us.

    Anarchy is on its way

  • Billy Bragg is a hypocrite. He brags about how great socialism is, yet lives in a 1.5 million pound (2.5 million dollar) mansion.

  • first time I've seen this! great stuff mr bragg, capitalism isnt working, we have to find a fairer system folks or we'll tear each other apart, why should profit be private but loss is public? and dont look to religeon for answers either, its time we started thinking about a bit of life "before" death instead of life after death, more than anything we need each other, lets move forward to something better.

  • @mudfries Sure capitalism doesn't work. I guess socialism paid for that huge mansion he lives in.

  • @StoogeWatcher ha! ha! oh your so right, if only he lived on bread and water and stayed in a slum he would be a real socialist! ha! ha! get a grip, billy is the man so dont knock him, I suppose thats why this is called youtube, its because it has people on it like you ya tube.

  • @mudfries You leftists sure are ignorant. You bitch about wealth, yet you make excuses for hypocrites like Billy Bragg, who live in mansions and fly around in private jets.

  • @StoogeWatcher "...You leftists sure are ignorant..." wow. some people have success in life pursuing justice and equality. sure, you run the risk of idiots saying you are hypocritical. Sure, it looks odd to see someone who could say "i've got mine, sod off"...but instead, speak from the platform they have. But, he doesn't need a Hummer, a p-pump, and his balls are probably larger than the pea - skull name-caller shouting ignorance when all a thinking person sees is an advocate.

  • £123 billion in uncollected, avoided and evaded taxes by the rich...

... and they hammer the poor?

  • How about a maximum wage international maritime law? No one person on earth can earn more than 500k a year say, even if they are Bill Gates or a banker? As Billy says we have a responsibilty to each other. I personally think that in the next century or two money and all the nonsense left and right wing politics associated with it will be abolished for good. Without the artificial scarcity that banks and governments impose, there would be less fear and violence in the world.

  • Curiously, The New Brunette came out against this proposed legislation.

  • I cant wait until we all wake up and realize that a democratic-Socialist country is the only answer, we need health care, we need to eliminate Unrestricted capitalism, and look out for the poor, because in my country (USA) the republicans watch out for the banks and the rich, and Democrats watch out for the banks and barely watch out for the middle class, and who gets fucked... ALL THE REST. So I am a Democratic-Socialist look up the meaning before you judge, it's got nothing to do with fascism

  • This world NEEDS to be destroyed

  • I want a choice of people to elect that aren't already bought and paid for by big business..."Our politicians all become careerists" as Billy so aptly sang way back in 1983...I met him before then, when he was playing my local pub and I bought him a pint, he's a good man...I recently used one of his songs for a video about the axeing of half a million musicians from U-Tube, in a deal with Google that's going to close the door on original artist so the corporations can own all the music again...

  • @wooddragon45 Great Points !

  • @BeautifulGirlByDana A SMALL GROUP OF BANKERS RUN THE UK. THEY RUN THE WHOLE WORLD. DONT PAY TAX. I DONT EITHER. FUCK THE GOVERNMENT. ABANDON YOUR CITIZENSHIP. I HAVE. FUCK BROWN. FUCK BANKERS. NO SOCIALISM ONLY MEN. FUCK YOU BILLY YOU KIKE BANKER PUPPET.

  • @bayonetsluts Ahh, the old anti-semitism, it sure makes you sound smart.

  • @bayonetsluts oh dear, you're in a bit of a strop. Hormones raging? It's OK you'll grow out of it.

  • He is right it is always the peoples hand that saves us all.

  • Freeman of the land,

Society is flawed, When money is fake and the 'government' rules us not the other way round.

    Government = corporation

  • Gosh people of Britain actually waking up... Dream on Sheeple

  • @obakegadeso

i don't know if the last comment is meant to be satirical but, if not may I just point out that liberal-conservatism (this is the route successive Conservative and Labour governments have taken over the past 30 years. ) in which the free market effectively has more say over the direction of Britain is hardly left-wing. although I must say your ignorance is bliss argument is quite seductive

  • @obakegadeso hostile illegal aliens? giving aid to foreign countries that are in dire need? You're so clouded by seemingly rough times in britain (when in truth we have so much more than we deserve) that you follow the party with truly immoral and even logically unsound values. If you truly were thinking of a better world for your children you've definitely chosen the wrong party

  • George Osborne and "Alabaster" Darling won't push this through Billy. However Vince Cable might. For one election only put down your loyalties to a party that has betrayed you (and me) and your socialist values and vote Liberal Democrat to give Labour a chance to kick out cancerous parasites like Mandelson. One election, one hung parliament and a chance to change things for good.

  • @chunkylimey lib- dem betrayed there own !. What ya got to say now . shows all politicians are full of crap .

  • hitler

  • Is this the most boring man this end of the galaxy?

So they edited out the thunderous roar of peoples footsteps running away

  • @obakegadeso No this is one of the most sensible men I have heard in a long while.

  • The people's hand didn't reach out, we had no choice.

  • A courageous speech by an active citizen.

  • Marxists run England.

    Marxists that hate the English.

  • @obakegadeso

    Not yet

  • The invisible hand of capitalism would have let the bank fall.

That, mister Bragg is what should have happened, not untold billions of taxpayers money going to keep it going.

    What a jerk.

Give up the politics Bragg, and go and do the only thing you are any good at: writing songs like 'New England'.

    Sad.

  • 31-33 isin't that the top of bernie ecclestone's head ?

    let em have it bill

  • Billy Bragg is wrong Alistair Darling by saving RBS is "creating a strong and vibrant financial services sector for the future". Not helping RBS would be like not helping the miners in when they were in trouble. Not paying your Taxes is illeagle and immoral as you arewith holding money from school and hospitals.
