My Mother, the Artist

My question is: Why do we use this triangle when an hourglass figure would be a more contextual and honest graph of the theistic belief in general? An almighty god, giving from an abundant source, into a vessal who's responsability it is to be a portal to those who have not that abundance... Therefore, an hourglass.

I must say upfront, you have a very soothing voice... Have you ever considered reading the Bible over a recording? I am a great fan of the overtly ironic and though I am assured of your more or less tactful stance concerning athiesm, I do believe that you would be hailed and accepted well...

Also, being a christian myself and understanding that you meant it not as an affront to the christian but as an anallogy I do call to reference the video in which you made use of the inverted triangle...

I like your mother's work very much. Was she formally trained in art? Or an auto-didact?

Are those really watercolors? or gouache? They are so rich with depth of color.

No, she's studied art formally as a graduate student and has been studying with some really great teachers ever since. Of course, she's also taught on the graduate level and privately as well.

Your mother's somewhat-impressionistic style is absolutely marvelous. The signal requirement for that style of painting is to highlight the emotions of the form in the lines and color, and every single painting in this video exceeds that requirement by leaps and bounds.

If you could take higher-resolution stills of those paintings and put them on a Photobucket or Flickr or some such, I would be very appreciative. They really are quite beautiful and inspirational. :-)

Be sure to thank your parents for us, as it's always interesting for us viewers to get even just a tiny grasp of what it was like for you growing up. I hope my jealousy is apparent as well, since growing up with workaholic nurse for a mom and a meat packing father with a love for fart jokes as a dad comes no where near to your upbringing with two free spirited parents with a love for the arts. Consider yourself lucky!
