  • we played this song my sophmore year of highschool and there were 5 trumpets and we always played to loud. and we would try diffrent harmonies to our parts. and make it more epic. and everytime we came to our parts we would always smile and start to head bang. and we raped that song for our band festivals.

  • We played this in our high school band and it sounded a lot better when the beginning is slower and more dramatic. At least I thought do, I was 1st trumpet.

  • We are playing this song in our highest band class, I play the flute, and I love this song, thanks for putting on this great recording!

  • @thecoldplaygirl So am I. I play the flute too, but I can't seem to get the first run down, any advice? It's my third year playing, but I still can't get the low E flat to sound right (well, I can get it, it just takes a little while for the note to come out), any advice there?

  • Magic1Music2Magnet3,

Are you playing the first or second part?

I hope you get your run down, what I did was went really slow on the run and when you feel comfortable (with the low E flat and the rest of the run) start to speed up.

And with the low E flat, is it sounding right because you are blowing too much air into the omburchure? Try playing the E flat with less air.

    Hope this helps,

    Good luck,

    thecoldplaygirl

  • @thecoldplaygirl

    I'm playing the first part.

Yeah, I guess I'll have to do that slow-to-fast method. Thanks.

With the low E flat if I blow too much air, the note jumps an octave, but if I use too little, it's really hard to get the note to come out at all. Can this just be because of the positioning of the head joint?

    Thanks.

  • Magic1Music2Magnet3

I have expirenced this same problem myself. I don't know what kind of flute you have, if you don't mind me asking... is it a new high-quality flute?

If yes, then the answer is to the headjoint question is probably yes, this tends to happen with quality flutes. What I would do, is play the low E flat and move the head-joint back and forth, (while you are doing this, use a tuner) and see how the E flat sounds in the different positions.

    Hope this helps,

    thecoldplaygirl

  • @Magic1Music2Magnet3

hey! try using less air, but keep the air moving fast, make your apature (the hole in your lips the air moves through) smaller, and purse your lips forward a bit. hard to explain over the internet, but i hope this helps... good luck!!

  • amazing song....great post thanks!
