  • GREAT SINGER

  • There was a radio station in CA and during the 80's they played a lot of her music... But I don't think it passed any farther into the states then those on the east/west coast.

  • Just a fantastic singer and a classic song that I never stop playing, many thanks Vince. Jimmy from Perth Western Australia.

  • Saw her in concert early 90s...Fantastic! this woman can only be appreciated live :o)

  • I loved her voice sincs I heard her for the first time in the 80's.. beautiful woman and singer !

  • i can not stand todays music it is absolute shite one direction, wanted ,buble xfactor all the songs sound the same and are about the same thing im 30 this year so was a small kid in the eightys but i remember songs like this and you never get bored of them todays songs make me cringe all commercial no heart and theres no characters anymore either like freddy mercury billy idol etc 90s did some good songs in the early years mid 90s onwards wow what the hell went wrong there boyzone, spice girls

  • powerful voice, now and ever...

  • My fav, alwayes and forever.

  • Adele and Alison are nothing a like , Adele is a classic in her own right !!! like Alison was back then !!

  • @MsCHAMPAGNEcharlie I like them both, but the big difference in this case is that Adele was able to make the trans-oceanic jump and become very, very successful here in the States too. Alison was not able to do that, and that is quite unfortunate. When I lived in Germany the local radio stations would play Alison's music many times during the day, and that's how I came to appreciate her. Most people here in the States don't have a clue of who she is, and that's a shame.

  • @vinceeverett2010 Can you compare the 80's with today?? There is no comparison.

90% of the new artists today will not be known, or survive without Internet and Youtube.

In the 80's artists only count on radio and they own quality. Nothing else... today you see artists without any quality have huge success.

  • @0JailBreak0 I completely agree, but I have to make an exception in Adele's case. She is really very talented, and she has earned her success. However, there's trash like the Black Eyed Peas, Justin Bieber, and most of the hip-hop/rap crap out there that does fall under the category you're talking about.

  • @vinceeverett2010 good point but adele is like dido listen to her too much and you will hang yourself. talented but depressing!

  • @upyeronion LOL, true. Adele's songs seem a little too depressing sometimes... };-)

  • 25 years later and Adele wishes she was as good as Alison Moyet.

  • still the best!!

  • great vocals

  • the best female singer of the 80's, JUST BRILLIANT!!

  • fwaaaar yes yes and yes xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • love it...xxx

  • Great lass .......Great voice.

  • I love her androgynous voice!

  • Just like Belinda Carlisle, she sounded better when she was fat!

  • great song brings back memories :)

  • Let our bodies to be twisted but never our minds. Brilliant lyrics.

  • super

  • gawd I'm ashamed I forgot about her fabulous voice

  • Such a voice!!!

  • You can't get better then this!!!!!!

  • i love this song new wave era is the best

  • いい歌ですよね

  • *Where hides sleep* is one of her best solo performace, and Yazoo *Only you* rocks on.

  • @znyggo What about Windmills of your mind (2004 voices for Darfur) that is so beautiful or her life version of Cry me a river, to be found here on YT. Sure, everyone has its favourite songs, but she has so many great songs, I would not know wich one to choose for my favourite......

  • Love it....Alison Moyet..you my kind og woman......

  • the best of the best

  • sempre bello, ascoltarla, waaauw

  • fantasic song

  • Only one rival, R.I.P Kirsty McCall.

  • does anyone else think that iin this picture she looks like "Sookie" Anna Paquin?

  • Alison has a voice that nobody could match! very course yet perfect...........

  • I am American (and straight) and I really loved her then and love her now! The song Invisible made like top 20 here and put her on my radar......but the group Yaz (Yazoo) had some success here in the 80's as well!

  • in a league of her own

  • god voice DIVA!!!!

  • Listening to her music now, I can say I enjoy it. But back in the 80s when Alf was released, I struggled to take a liking to it. Tastes change! Alison has a powerful, no-nonsense voice. For some reason, I appreciate it more now, all those years later.

  • Many in the gay circles and clubs here in the US followed her music back in the 80s and I loved it!

As she said in a recent interview, she cut way back on the music work due to raising her 3 children, so maybe no time for keeping up a presence across the pond.

  • Alison Moyet aka THE VOICE

  • yeh i get that but i thought a great song would be at least mildly successful in USA. so they really snub foreigners ?? some have been successful tho !

  • can any music industry experts explain why so many huge bands and performers fail in the USA when they have much better material than a lot of Yank stuff ???

just some examples, Alison, Kylie Minogue (huge in uk and europe but failed in usa) and split enz ???

  • @wildpanthera americans think they are the best. so they are not so patient with anything non-american. great song.

  • @wildpanthera Just in general, I think it's a certain insularity coupled with a general underappreciation of things "foreign" that account for it. A big generalization, but there's some truth to it.

  • this woman is a legend i am 23 and i love her xx

  • Love This Song ....Love Alison Moyet!!!

    Yes It's Love....Now 18 years Today, Oct. 3rd 2010...

    Bob&Robby~4Ever

  • @Clof1959 OMG 18 years? Ok, I am not getting old!

  • @AdlerChalk ~ Not 18 years since this song was a hit but on the day I wrote the comment was the Anniversay of.. 18 years that my Angel, Robby & I had been together...

So my answer was ...Yes to "Is This Love"...

You're never getting older only Wiser is the way I like to look @ it...

    Hugs

    Bob
