About Madonna I agree with you, but her song from the (Ray Of Light) Album "Substitute For Love" was her own dilemma & choice of whether to give it all up as you say or remain in the lime light. Most of her life has been spent in the public's eye, so in a sense it has become a way of living for her. She loves the attention as well, regardless if it's to be an example or not. Her song "Live To Tell" I bet is her (secret life) that we never hear of but seems she could be killed over it if we did.

As you probably know, the Princess and her boyfriend were chased into a tunnel in France, and the driver was so distracted trying to avoid the paps that the car crashed into a pillar. The Princess, who was amazing, btw, was dead 3 hours later. She was 36, I believe.

The attention she received after 1985 was carried along by a media who ASSUMED everyday people were intrigued by her, that we liked her, or that we females considered her a role model and wanted to see more of her (most of us did not). The media do not seem as "fascinated" with Madonna anymore, seeing as how they're busy cranking out Lady Gaga on all the magazine covers in the past two years.

I complain and protest when something is incessantly shoved in the public's face at the expense of more intelligent performers and more important social trends. M represents the dumbing down of women's music into hardcoreporn. A big part of the media's madonna campaign is making her above any reproach. I don't goose step like her fans do and even many people who think she stinks but are too intimidated to say anything and just nod.

She basically ripped off Blondie's Debbie Harry, then went on to steal Marilyn Monroe's persona for over ten years, with the occasional Marlene Dietrich or Harlow rip off.
None of her early, big hit songs (the ones people enjoyed and remember) were not written by her.
Madonna's famous costumes and looks from the past were either copies of Monroe's wardrobe, or were created by her old personal stylist Maripol and Jean Paul Gaultier.

And my point was that M has done enough things and been surrounded with enough trash that it should have happened long ago. She's the only one they've ever loved this much and glorified. How old are you?
