  • i'm surprised on how much her english has improved, i love her thick french accent though!

  • She's really worked on her accent.

  • goddamn she is fine

  • She's so beautiful!! I love her! She's a wonderful actress!

  • EVA GREEN! <3

  • Such great titties。

  • She is one the actress to play Thalia ghul for the next batman movie dark knight rises

  • no wonder he got her completely naked in dreamers, she thought he was a god

  • eva green once commented that she thinks that english is alot more melodic than french, becuase in french you use the back of your throat loads which can make it sound horrible at times. but i love both languages, also alot of people have said that they found it incredibly difficult to learn english due to all the different words and their tense

  • @Alexandrarghh French Grammar is harder. English has a huge amount more irregular verbs and a much denser vocabulary.

French speakers have most of their verbs in English, but also pretty much a whole other set coming from Danish/Germanic roots in English.

French is a much prettier language though. English sounds dirty.

  • @jjay75 basically, English is derived from French.

  • @l3stat3 No. English is derived from Germanic languages/Danish and French. French grammar is very different to English, and a bit more comlpicated.

English is denser because we have two words for everything. Commencer is French for start, beginnen is German for start and we have Begin and Commence in English.

  • @jjay75 Normans were using French and English was used only by Saxons in the beginning. So basically, English aristocracy was talking French.

  • @l3stat3 That's a really backwards argument, linguistically.

Prior to the Norman landings the English language, or some variant, was spoken by the majority of the population, and that was a descendent of gothic and norse languages. Franks, Angles, Saxons etc. All these tribes spoke gothic languages.

French became a court language, but vernacular english continued to develop, incorporating more French words.

So it came from a variety of sources.

  • @jjay75 Nonsense, it was not until the 12'th century when the first book in English was written. English became the official language only at the very end of the 13'th century. Basically, middle English was using French words mainly for the abstract whilst English was used for basic nouns.

  • @l3stat3 I don't really know what to say other than you're wrong.

See, before middle english there was this thing called old english which was a descendant of the gothic languages. French words slipped in, but the reason French and English grammar are completely different is because. There aren't many texts of old english in existence, or many Middle English texts that date before Gawain and the Green Knight, but that doesn't prove anything.

    Comes from 2 distinct sources.

  • @jjay75 I would say that Canterbury Tales are a pretty good example of the Middle English text.

  • @l3stat3 That was written after or at the very least the same time as Gawain and the Green knight.

You can trace it back through bible translations, and you can see a slow increase of the use of French words, but it still comes from the same germanic sources.

  • @jjay75 Regardless of the origin of the English language, it is unquestionable that at least half of the Middle English comes from the Middle French. Influences of the Old English and it's Jutish/Saxon dialects are notable but nevertheless, minor compared to the contribution of the Middle French.

  • @l3stat3 60% comes from French, of which 10% comes from germanic languages. 10% comes from Danish and the rest comes from sources that are Germanic but difficult to define.

What are we arguing about again?

  • @jjay75 not sure, but Eva Green is beautiful. A type of beauty that you won't see in Hollywood.

  • Her accent sounds a lot more british these days

  • @TheBohemianTenor

I agree. Her accent has completely changed from this video.

  • @TwoSet Technically, you've just contradicted yourself there. Disrespectful dumbass troll.

  • speaking russian is the best my mums from russia but im English

  • so cuuute ^^

  • Hope we see a lot more from this actress.

  • @IWannabeJew We already saw it all in the dreamers.

  • @truthwillbetoldjig Ah, so you think her skin is the only thing she has to bring, eh? You must be talking about another Eva Green.

  • @IWannabeJew 100% agree. I hope she gets her tits out as well.

  • @Stevie10Gunshot she's going to be in the series Camelot - I think there are meant to be some heavy sex scenes in that.

  • @Stevie10Gunshot Watch "The Dreamers", you won't be dissappointed...

  • Her english is perfect. I love to hear her speaking french even though i don´t speak french quite well. French should be the universal language instead of english

  • why do you think french should be universal language?i really want to hear some reasons!!

  • French grammar is much richer than english and than any other language. if you speak french you have more ways to express yourself than any other language. Besides, french pronuntiation is soft and sweet and it is the most poetical language in the world. Speaking french is like having sex while you speak =)

  • @laadlafm Sure, if she's a fan of absurd cheese.

  • @18rus ha ha :)

  • I agree!

  • French grammar is certainly richer and more complex than English, but so is German.

  • It's funny you should say that, cause though French grammar is more "complicated" than English grammar, i don't find it richer (i'm french). I love English, and i often think that this particular way of saying this or that in English doesn't exist in French; English has much more freedom in the words, expressions, etc. But i've studied English at uni, and the grammar is actually not as simple as one could think.

  • this was ages ago she is getting a small

    american accent know

  • Well, I don't know, but she still sounds French. She does sound good, but I wouldn't say that her English is perfect.

  • Do you think so? Just curious. She seemed like a pretty authentic (albeit, non-regional) Brit in Franklyn.

    Then again, I am American.

  • To be honest, I can see now why she has SUCH better English than Marion Cotillard (another French actress).

If you'll notice, she pronounces everything pretty well. It's only verb tenses and the stresses that she gets wrong.

So with a teacher, she could have easily have fixed that.

Marion, though, simply can't pronounce some words, which is what gave her trouble.

Sorry, I plan on being a linguistics major, so I picked this up =)

  • If you look at a more recent interview, you'll see she *has* gotten that fixed.

    Her English is perfect now.

  • Comment removed

  • I know! It's pretty amazing! She seems to have picked up a convincing British accent.

  • yea is hard to believe that she is french, her accent is beautiful , Im talking about Eva , Marion I saw her on public enemies and let me tell you that she gets better but I think Eva is better

  • Oh yeah, I definitely agree.

I believe Marion is a better actress, but, let's be honest, she has a strong accent. Apparently she didn't start learning until she was about 14, so it makes sense.

I could bet most people who watched Eva's Bond film would never know she's french.

  • she was so pretty as vesper in casino royale

  • I never knew she was french till yesterday

  • Quelle difference! Elle parle avec un accent très anglais maintenant. Bravo Eva!!

  • her english teacher has done a hell of a good job!

    she sounds absolutely british now

  • You know I don't like that. She's French. She should be proud and have a French accent.

I think English spoken with a French accent is very sexy also.

  • @Terramax

Well I don't know about you, but if I were learning how to speak another language properly, I wouldn't want to have an accent.

  • @StommenDoolKhaatU no she doesn´t she´s got a strong french accent. but she went to a bording school or something like that, and all her classes were held in english. et voilá

  • about whih film she said in 1.30? "last time going Paris?" I can't find anything about that title in the internet

  • "Last tango in Paris"

  • i always thought she is american or something cause her name doesn't sound very french?! cool

  • Comment removed

  • Yes I know now but you write it like the color ;-)

  • ugh, shes got the cutest french accent...i guess her looks help 2 lol

  • She sounds american here e.g. "faaaaast" and "laaaast" instead of fast and last.

  • omg!french accent!british accent!so that said which one its her really accent?i prefer the british one!:D

  • Her real accent is French, but I'm pretty sure she usually speaks with a British one because she likes it better.

  • yeh i know dat now!i've been watching some interviews of her and she always speaks with a british accent :)

  • i think she worked really hard to get rid of the french accent --to only have a british one when speaking english.

  • true...i've a british accent but its not perfect yet.... its really hard for us not english speakers to hide our "real" accent..so yeah its very hard to have a british accent :)

  • Well, I'm fully English and I think people like you are better English speakers than we are because you have to try harder.

  • yeah, i guess :D

    :)

  • what is it like in Brazil?

  • im not brazilian..im portuguese :)

marianinhabp is the one who is brazilian :)

    xx

  • Oh, Im sorry. My mistake! You still do very well to speak English.

  • Well, I'm a norwegian living and studying in the UK. You guys are a pretty cool people. Including and accepting :P

  • Thank you very much. Where do you study?

  • And what of us Americans?

  • Have had positive experiences with americans, but never been there.

  • yeah! british accent is way harder to speak and to understand, at least for me - im brazilian - but at the same time is so much beautiful.

  • Nice french accent

  • i hear she's playing a teacher at an all-girls english boarding school who experiments sexually with some of her students. this woman is a genius when it comes to choosing roles.

  • I know...she's amazing

  • u bet!^^

  • hahaha!wats the name of that movie?

  • it's called "cracks".

    i'm not kidding.

  • wat is called cracks?lmao

  • "Dreamers" It's a brilliant movie, but very taboo. It's about a classic film lover who moves to france and meets eva green's character and her brother. He ends up staying at their house while her parents are away. Then he discovers that the two sibblings are actually twins who are involved in a romantic sexual relationship in which he then becomes a part of. The NC-19 version is VERY VERY explicit, but I recomend it totally. Very mellow, sensual movie.

  • totally! :D

  • The movie is not explicit really. They show the lead actor's penis + shoe simulated sex. The breaking of her hymen is not even explicit. Further, the relationship between the twins is not a sexual one. They are never seen engaging in any sexual acts. They sleep nude together and are close physically and emotionally, beyond that their relationship is a loving one.

The film is a sensual one. Eva Green's breasts steal several scenes. Tons of references for the clued in. Venus de Milo anyone?

  • she looks very misterious. Although seeing as though she done modelling and stuff suggests she probably isn't that artistically minded. She would probably make great films if she chose roles like gael bernal does. Quite methodical choices.

  • she's gorgeous

  • I like her french accent better than her english one! I just love the way the french accent sounds. Marion Cotillards sounds adorable too. Eva Green's is cool because it sounds deeper than Julie Delpy's. So it's wonderful to listen to. And she speaks english here better than Cotillard still.

  • Nope, it isn't.

  • People in Europe usually learn english from English people, thus the english accent. I read on her biography that she studied english in England.

  • thats right!im portuguese and my english accent is british...we learn english from english teachers, sometimes irish teachers heheeh

  • She has a French accent here and it's her real one. She only uses an English accent when she's supposed to for her role (though you can still sort of tell she's French—i.e. Casino Royale). That said, I think she's also learning how to speak with an American accent.

  • oh, its just she spoke with a perfect english accent in another video, and for some reason this seems kind of put on to me, but obviously you know more about eva green than i!

  • I love her accent. Its freaking adictive. Everything she says sounds so cool.

  • eva can smoke whatever she wants...

  • omg, she´s an angel, a godness, one ofthe most beautiful woman in the world, beautful face, in fall in love...Amazing, so pretty..

Sos, de calle, una de las mujeres mas hermosas del mundo, menudos ojos, menuda cara, no puedo creer que pueda exitir cosa tan perfecta, por ti mataria, eres tan hermosa que duele saber eres inalcanzable.

  • she is so captivating....

  • eva is beautiful, and i dont care if she smokes, so do i. if u dont like it dont hang around people who enjoy smoking and stop picking on them, its our own choice to do it!

  • Un coeur, deux mains, des pensées ... ça fait de cette personne un être humain non? I've forgotten to speak English? ooops

  • yeah I agree her accent is very strongly French here, but I think that because she lives in England and works with mostly English actors, she's kind of picked it up, it makes sense...it's the same with Orlando Bloom, he works with a lot of American actors and directors, so he's definitely picked up some American accent over the past few years...

Also her English isn't that good here, and it's so much better now, she's perfectly fluent now.f

    GOD she's gorgeous.

  • Typical Dumb man; he can't stop using stereotypes.

    How sad.

  • True.

  • What a moronic, uneducated, dense thing to say. Typical dolt. I would pity you but I'm fresh out.

  • Thanks for being racist.

    Awesome.

  • People all over the world smoke, it's not particularly a French Woman thing. Do you speka with such disdane to every smoker or just the famous people you see online?

  • Johnson01 on smoking: "Why speak to people who indulge in such a filthy habit?"

I witnessed a mugging last week and, naturally, was prepared to act as a witness. When the police officer arrived to take my statement, the unmistakable stench of tobacco from him repulsed me into a state of non-compliance. I refused to answer any of this foul brute's questions. I may have been the only witness who saw the whole thing and remembered every detail but principles are principles.

  • Ladies and gentlemen, in johnson01 we have found a true philanthropist whose humanitarian zeal we should all applaud. He has educated us as to the dangers of smoking - something we were all ignorant of before.

If I may continue his race-saving enlightenment, if you put a gun to your head and pull the trigger, chances are you'll die. I'm not sure if the gun has to be loaded, though. Our mentor johnson01 will hopefully clear that one up for us.

    Carcogenic? New word. Genius.

  • Actually according to a reliable source she may very well have given up smoking for health reasons, although ironically she is expected to chain smoke to get into character in a film currently under production.

  • Fascinating, johnson01, truly spellbinding. Come on, who gives a rat's fanny if she smokes or not. As well as being tediously opinionated are you also some kind of aspiring celebrity commentator?

Expected to chain smoke to get into character? Well, we heard it here first.

Ladies and gents, raise your glasses (and your cigarettes) to johnson01 - spreader of the banal, educator extraordinaire.

  • Your insight ends somewhere shy of realizing you're no better than johnson01.

  • That's right, thecouragepills, and your insight is limitless. Not that you're not already aware of this but I shied away no longer, accepted that I'm no better than johnson01 and embraced the fact that you are better than both of us.

Are your courage pills prescribed or your own batch? Order me some as they've clearly worked so triumphantly for you.

Now, if you'll excuse me, Grand High Wizard, johnson01 and I are off to a French smoking party where we will revel in depraved equality.

  • wow, someone isn´t using sarcasm (sarcasm about itself)

  • no wonder shes hot I didn't know she was french?

  • wait why does she talk with this accent in this video... when she speaks with a very british accent in recent interviews?

  • because she's French and this interview must date from 2003 when she was very new to this profession. Since then she worked a lot on improving it as you can see in casino royal or in interviews..

  • Cheers for clearing that up...Its fascinating, she's beautiful with the French accent, but I admire the work she has put in for her profession!

  • DAT'S RIGHT :)

  • because she was still living in france at the time, she lives in London now so shes picked up on that accent a bit, as well as having to mimick one for movies, such as Casino Royale, and I think it became more natural for her. You can still tell when she talks in interveiws that she has a bit of a french accent, its like british and french combined.

  • Eva is among the very few celebrities who can look beautiful even without make up ; Eva is one among the reason one can love France and French
