One thing that might help everyone one with the debate of black mage or not, you have to remember that as FF developed, so did magic classes. For someone to be considered a mage, it ment that their spells only existed within one class.

You don't make any sense about Rydia. She's a Black Summoner. (Summoner with Black Magics) You can't just deny that a character isn't something, just because you don't think she's like a "base". Palom's supposed to be a Black Mage. Rydia's main Job is Summoner, but she has Black Magics. Eiko is a reverse White Summoner (White Mage with Summon Magics) She learns White Magic faster than Garnet, do to this. You can deny it all you want, but it makes logical sense.

I could spend all day comparing him to Strago Magus, but why bother? And no, saying things like, "Spoony Bard" do not last with me. I found him to be an annoying character, therefore, glad to see him go.

@myawsomebox That's only true when you first get her. When she leaves later in the game, she goes through massive offscreen training in the realm of summons that ages her to look like this. Then she comes back, and no longer has white magic, having replaced it with black magic spells and more summons than before.

Yeah, she's a summoner, but she's also the only permanent black mage you get in the game. And still my favorite. Xp
