  • There's another really sick band from Australia at the moment called Delusion Twin.. They've got this heavy, atmospheric sound sort of like The Butterfly Effect and Deftones, fucking rules

  • Ian's voice rocks... Karnivool is a genre of their own 3

  • This is fucking amazing. New fan from Brazil.

  • Everyone has their own opinion. No such thing as music being better than music. Only music being differnent than music.

  • Comment removed

  • i literally listen to karnivool once a week, so that i fall in love with them again and again

  • Ahh, my Vool fix needs...fixing...Saw them 4 times in the space of about a year and a half and I think it's been well over a year since I last saw them. Check out the band Mortdelamer, I believe Karnivool are a big influence of theirs.

  • saw these guys when they were touring the usa with ankla nonpoint and skindred

  • steve judd = god !!

  • Lets not talk about other bands and your feelings about them, enjoy the music and shut the fuck up. Aint that what its all about?

  • Why is everyone talking about Breaking Benjamin on a Karnivool video? I love BB but they're clearly not worthy of cleaning Ian's mic.

  • FUCKING EPIC SONG

  • if i were australian, i'd be proud

  • @q0w1e2r3t4y5 I am, and I CERTAINLY am!

  • reminds me of a band called Gravity Kills

  • Epic!

  • This is one of the most boring tracks the band has ever done.

  • @PatrickSherrell Agreed.

  • WOW! THIS...IS CANT B REAL! **murders replay**

  • saw them recently at panthers, well done ian for coping that beer in the head! full respect for your restraint!!!!

  • Keep an eye out, they're touring the east coast of Australia in late june, early july.

  • Seeing Karnivool live at sonisphere last year was motherfucking aweomse <3

  • @WilloughbySarah Aweomse??

  • @RILO97 I think its pronounced Ough-Ummce. real fast.

  • @RILO97 You know, aweomse! It's like the next level from awesome!! :D

  • It's like you have to be from America to get the respect you deserve in the music industry. And American musicians aren't very respectable to begin with. I'm from America and I discovered Karnivool on Last.fm a couple months ago and I find them to be simply awesome. Australia is a very lucky country. :)

  • True artistry.

  • See you boys at the roundhouse :P

  • I can't say it enough..... Karnivool are sooooo underated!

  • going to see them in about an hour..... SO HAPPY!!!!!

  • doe sany one else hear the sounds he makes with his guitar around o.46 onwards ace is wgat it is

  • I love all the symbolism packed into this. From the bees of the hive to the anarchistic pyramids which I'm pretty sure are supposed to demonstrate the way Egyptian pharaohs ruled over their lands. The only thing is, the song is just too epic for anything to symbolise it :D

  • @1995liquidlead Actually the pyramids are likely symbolizing something much more current. They're the traditional symbol of practically every "behind the scenes" organizations such as the New World Order, Illuminati, etc. They were showcased stage-front in Orwell's 1984 as party headquarters. I'm sure the entire idea is the struggle against organized oppression from anywhere, be it politics or religion, as the song states.

  • makes you wonder, how does this video have only 50000 views and an untalented canadian who cannot sing at all as over 400million...

  • We just need Birds of Tokyo to FUCK OFF so Karnivool can return.

  • @JimmyRutt And yeah Birds of Tokyo need to fuck off a bit so Kenny could put all his greatness into Karnivool.

  • 5 piece = better than tool. Tool = good influence??? maybe.....So which song(s) is this influenced by? Maynard sucks cock.

  • @JimmyRutt - I hate to talk about this because I hate these kinds of debates, but since you asked the intro guitar and drums are similar to "Ticks and Leeches".

  • @IamZanderss Guitar isn't similar at all. Drums a bit but in completley diffrent way.

  • @Vool5 Fine.

  • @JimmyRutt You suck cock bitch

  • @JimmyRutt Goliath is super Tool-esque.

  • It's nice to know you're with us, I guess...

  • after watching this video im half expecting scooby doo to pop up and jump on the shaggy.. i mean the vocalist O.O

  • So much potential.. why Birds of Tokyo?

  • @Konigi333 agreed.

  • I went to Australia for a while last year. I heard so many great bands, I don't understand why none of them ever seem to be popular outside of Australia.

  • 3 people were set the hive on them

  • some of you are so dumb and shallow... read the lyrics!!! analyze for once in your life!! this song is about your world government, control of the people!! listen and think... open your shallow minds and dig deeper. The writing s on the wall!!!!

  • You don't like rock music if you don't like this song.

  • so these guys remind me off tool, just to point that out there

  • @pjbuddy123 Yea I can see that, a little bit. I dont usually like to compare bands to Tool b/c Tool is so unique and simply the best in my opinion, but yes I can agree.

  • @VoxxNovus yeah but they arent tool and they have there own sound as well, and all there songs are different i find whoch really makes them unique and great to listen to, just like tool...be awesome to see them and tool in the same concert actually

  • @pjbuddy123 I was thinking the same thing, like, a more Modern Australian version of Tool :o

  • @Konigi333 I love their sound, but I don't see them maintaining a similar and more distinguished sound 5 years from now the way Tool does. That there is consistency! It takes a boxed mind to write a masterpiece and to me, this is it for Karnivool. Everything they do from here on out will either make or break them as musicians, but I don't think anything will top 'Wide Awake'. They've hit their breaking point, now they just have to stay consistent!

  • were slaves in this medicated cage!

  • 3 peoples heads just exploded

  • This is the complete opposite to the video of "all i know"... this one is grey, dark and rough... interesting...

  • @BenniMuzak that was the point. SFTTH is rough and All I know is lush anf floaty. Two sides of this great band. Sound Awake FTW

  • Breaking Benjamin, lmao. at least people have stopped comparing 'vool with Tool

  • This is terrible. End of discussion.

  • @justabetterplayer I'd be interested to know how you could come to that conclusion

  • @justabetterplayer Good joke.

  • I love that bit at 3:14

These guys may just be one of my new favourite bands! :)

  • lead singer kinda sounds like Fair to Midland

  • @evanb0869 you do know they are currently touring with fair to midland right? however i do not think he sounds like him. at all. lol. but im glad to see an american band hold up to an aussie band, cuz its pretty difficult. If you want to hear a band that sounds like karnivool, listen to dead letter circus. not a copy but they have alot of the same qualities that i personally love.

  • Jon Stockman, guys. Period.

  • I saw these guys live at the BDO last year in aux right before mastodon, and as hard as it is for me to say cause that's who I was there for, they actually rocked WAY harder. Breaking benjamin suck hairy big sweaty fucking ball sacks, these guys have hairy big sweaty fucking ball sacks. kapiche?

  • This sounds nothing like Breaking Benjamin. Oh and Birds Of Tokyo are fucking awesome too.

  • great song... great message!

  • Why are people comparing this and Breaking Benjamin? Can't you just appreciate both bands for having great talent?

  • man, this band and song are pretty mad

  • Man Kenny must be up to his thick rimmed glasses in prog rock puussay

  • Breaking Bengaymen suck balls!!

  • Great song, I love the guitar and vocals in it. Very cool video as well! Nice lighting, effects and editing... Turned out Very, very cool!!!

  • Any one from melbourne, message me if you want to get together and start a heavy alt rock band such as these guys / dead letter circus and so on. Really keen to start singing. I can play guitar and sing which I have for years, but singing is where my heart lies, so I just need the musicians... Fingers crossed there are some of you out there.

  • check out the ebook "sound awake" was inspired by for free in pdf format and tell me what you think. just go to the smashwords website and search for The Shadowbelt......

I'm trying to get more copies out there so if you like it too, please tell your friends since they are also most likely Karnivool fans and would want to check out either way.

  • This band is rippin current music a new arsehole!

  • @BenSteedOfficial Oh there's definitely good and bad music, there's music that was made for music's sake (definition of art) and music made either to become rich or to become famous (NOT the definition of art) and that's bad music same goes for movies. No one can say that "Shake your tail feathers" is as good as "Air on the G string" for example. One of those is definitely bad.

  • This is real music. End of discussion.

  • @AirJanzen1 Breaking Benjamin are the fucking worst band ever. Up there with Nickelback and Creed.

  • @glassgraves Hey, man. Come on, now. You know as well as I do that NO ONE will ever be as bad as Nickelback and Creed.

  • @glassgraves Fuck you cunt eat a dick breaking benjamin are Fucking amazing.

  • @lankman69 Your insults are original and not at all inordinate.

  • @lankman69 Theu are crap!.

  • @glassgraves what's Breaking Benjamin, Nickelback and Creed got to do with Karnivool?

  • @glassgraves nickelback and creed yes, but Breaking Benjmain are actually good. But if you compare them to this band yea i guess you can say they are bad, but then i would ask why would you compare the two.

  • @leaderliter Art is subjective. Most of the words in this comment section add up to equal absolute nonsense. I think Breaking Benjamen are terrible, but who am I to say that my ears work better than yours? You're perfectly in the right to like whatever the fuck you want, don't listen to these music snobs. These phoneys would rather talk about music and how much they hate various bands than actually go and listen to stuff they enjoy.

  • @glassgraves You actually made me go listen to arms wide open by Creed. Needless to say, I lol'd quite hard at his singing.

  • @glassgraves Isn't it great to be able to have the ability to formulate opinions? Yes. It is.

  • @glassgraves Pull your head out of your ass. Breaking Benjamin is in a complete different subgenre than Karnivool, and aimed at an entirely different audience. Comparing them to Karnivool would be like comparing Beyonce to Metallica. As in, stupid and pointless.

  • @Kerfuffleinahussle Comparing Breaking Benjamin to Karnivool is like comparing Beyonce to Metallica? Are you sure there isn't a bit of hyperbole in that? Seriously think about your statement before you tell someone to pull their head out of their ass.

  • @glassgraves Fact is they're catered for different audiences. Breaking Benjamin are aimed at mainstream listeners-who are content with a catchy hook and a good chorus, nothing more nothing less. Karnivool is aimed at those who look for more musical and instrumental technicalities, and more original songwriting. Theyre too different to compare.

  • @glassgraves Beyonce vs Metallica DEATHMATCH! I LOVE IT! No but really, had a friend introduce to Karnivool after Oceansize split this year. I bought Their Sound awake album haven't taken it off repeat since.

  • @glassgraves bit of an idiotic comment ... clearly you havn't seen some of the teenage cover bands from my town

  • @glassgraves I like Breaking Benjamin and Creed. But just discovered these guys, and they make some of the best music I've heard in a while. The whole Sound Awake album is phenomenal to say the least.

  • @AirJanzen1 Breaking Benjamin is totally bullshit, their music is contrived and bland and essentially just a worn-out recipe that they abuse to make records that sound like duplicates. At least this band does something different, even if it is just take out any melody except for the vocals.

  • @DeadRedDominance Breaking Benjamin and Karnivool isn't even on the same planet. BB is total bulshit

  • @Vool5 they are good but imo karnivool is the more proficient of the two. but breaking benjamin deserves their place in the music world. they are very good as well.

  • @AirJanzen1 You obviously aren't musically inclined whatsoever if you think Breaking Benjamin is more skilled than Karnivool in ANY way. I LOVE Breaking Benjamin. Seriously one of my favorite bands. But, they are mainstream. They've fallen into conformity and do what everyone else does. Karnivool doesn't sound like anything that's come before them, hence, that already makes them better than Breaking Benjamin. Now eat a dick. Om nom dat shit.

  • @AlextheMusicMaker117 Breaking Bejamin are more skilled than Karnivool? You're only fooling yourself, man.

  • @allhailpantera123 What are you talking about guy? I said the exact opposite.

  • @AlextheMusicMaker117 Oh shit, my bad. Must've been sleep deprived or something, LOL. Sorry about that.

  • @allhailpantera123 It's all good dawg lol

  • @AlextheMusicMaker117 om nom dat shit? Lol lmfao owned

  • @AirJanzen1 Breaking Benjamin?! Pwn this band?! Bahahahahaha! Best joke I've ever heard. Seriously though that's a real knee slapper.

  • @AlextheMusicMaker117 Prog is the greatest!

  • Went to there 2009 concert in adelaide MAD!!!!

  • my problem with karnivool is that their play on drop-B, but the singer got a high voice, in my opinion its sounds disharmonic. But the hole band is rly skilled

  • @Dermooos this comment makes me laugh because you clearly have no idea about music, tunings and harmony or disharmony..

  • @maxwellsilveraxe

believe me i do, but i also now that u have no idea that there is a diffrent between; ,, its disharmonic and in my opinion its sounds disharmonic.

    any questions?

  • @Dermooos explain to me how having a high voice and tuning in Drop-B is incompatible? To say that is what makes it "disharmonic", is dumb and shows me you know nothing about music in this respect. And i do know what the difference is, this song does have dissonant sections just as the band intended.

  • @maxwellsilveraxe

thats why we call it ,,progressiv´´ ;)

but if u want to argue with me, u have to react on my words, and nawt only focusing on ur mind, u just showed me that u dont know the diffrent

  • the drummin in this song is fuckin awesome karnivool ftw

  • love playing this song on guitar !

    got the best feeling !

  • @questionmark1331: it's actually "you played us as both a cancer and a cure." hence, "which reminds me that it's just a game."

technicalities aside, awesome song, awesome band.

  • @Pwanzorzzilla or "plagued" instead of "played"?

  • @KeepGoing11235 nah its played

  • If they aint already, they will become one of your favorite bands.

Did you know this song is part of a sound track or in other words is a book preview video?

go to smashwords and just search for "The Shadowbelt"...it's free and it rocks!

Let me know what you think of it. Looks like Karnivool digs it so you should too.

  • iz it wrong 4 me 2 absolutely luv karnivool but absolutely hate b.o.t?:( im sorry:(

  • @DoofMr i have the same opinion completely, just cause the singer's in the same band's doesnt mean anything. it's like loving tool and hating a perfect circle or loving slipknot and hating stone sour.

  • mein erster gedanke als ich das im radio hörte war ... * geil, endlich wieder arctic monkeys...*

  • politics religion, your visions the same, you plague us, as both a cancer and a cure. so true

  • Wow the guitar at 0.50 really does sound like bees, sweet, saw this live in glasgow, chatted to the manager for 20 mins got a half price t-shirt for ma b/d fucking amazing guys!

  • Absolute killer track. Can't get this tune outta my head!Especially the chorus bit.Very catchy. You won't hear this on fucking Today FM with that fuckwit Sandilands!

  • saw them play with Fair to Midland last week in L.A....Ive become a fan!!!!!!!

  • Karnivool is so friggin awesome!

  • Now that bands like Karnivool are 'catching up', Tool will propably just transform into something else. Listening to Karnivool, the MUSIC doesn't remind of Tool, only the PRODUCTION.

  • birds of tokyo ian's other band do alright too

  • @andy1982222 Birds started out good three or four years ago, but now the commercial radio stations have got hold of them, they will be destined for pop destruction! I think he is much better in Karnivool anyway........ The commercial stations stay well away from them, which I must say is a good thing!

  • @andy1982222 yeah....they got nothing on vool though. i like their stuff, but too mainstream

  • @datswotimtknbout mainstream? sidestream? spermstream? who gives a shit. if it sounds good, we need to listen to it. not waste tons of money on it, but be glad we have awesome shit like this. it's the only thing that keeps justin bieber, lady gaga and miley cyrus away.

  • It's possible that these guys are the next Tool of our generation. The music is dark and what a relief it is that surely but slowly this band is forming itself from within. Whatever their producer did to help was worth it and I bet their producer doesn't even need to critique them because they're on their own level, a lot like Tool was when they started! Lets count on these guys to keep playing music their way!

  • @NTNSLUVMNZUHVNTSCRD hmmmm. i can see where you're coming from and you have a good point, but. i'm not 100% sure if they can live upto tool (im not saying they're not good, karnivool are great) but tool are a whole other dimension, hard act to follow

  • Perth band ftw

  • good song one of my favorites .the sound is different from other kind of groups

  • are karnivool big overseas? (overseas from australia). god i hope so...they deserve to be

  • They're getting bigger. I live in the UK and have been a fan since early 2007, simply because my sisters boyfriend spent hours looking on myspace for new bands to listen to. I don't think anyone had really heard of them around that time over here. Word is spreading pretty quickly though, and especially after they toured with Skindred here last year, their fanbase is only getting bigger. They're doing pretty well in the US as well.

  • they are a part of Roadrunner Records which is a major record label in the states but they are on the Australian branch of it. and yes they are known overseas

  • @joshman7771 band are not connected to Roadrunner at all

  • i saw these in london last week, amazing gig

  • the chorus really is the best thing since sliced bread!!!! very addictive!!! great hook!! :D :D

  • love that riff that sounds like a fly buzzing

  • Or perhaps bees. Hence "Set Fire to the HIVE"

  • @olensbro No way! Thanks for the insight!

  • I hope this group catches on more in the US.

  • going to see them in Nottingham UK in a couple of weeks, cant wait

  • woohoo just heard it on our regional music tv "gotv" (Austria) and was blown away! great song!

  • Chorus is utterly amazing!

  • Fuck I love the chorus in this song so much.

  • are you sure? ..a i mean are you sure you can pick your favourite ?

  • This is definatly my favourite song by these guys.

  • It's such a hit for this band that even without the video the song would still stand out.
