  • @Blackeyedpeas1937

You should probably watch the video before you comment. It makes you sound less stupid.

  • @Blackeyedpeas1937 WELL WE ALL KNOW (IF UR A TRUE INTELLECTUAL AND READING ALL THE RIGHT BOOKS) THAT AFRICAN AMERICANS AND LATINOS ARE FORCED TO DO THESE CRIMES AS MEANS OF SURVIVAL IN THE GHETTO AND PROJECTS. IT'S EXACTLY LIKE SLAVERY THERE ARE PARALLELS LIKE NOT BEINGA BLE TO VOTE... THE REASON WHY ITS HYPER INCARCERATION IS BECAUSE ITS FOCOSED ON CLASS, THEN RACE, AND THEN LOCATION. POOR BLACK LIVING IN THE GHETTO. POOR LATINOS LIVING IN THE PROJECTS

  • It's funny how white folk always got so much to say about black folks. Look at yourselves and quit stealin from our culture and others all of the damn time. ..and keep them white girlz in check and keep them out of our neighborhoods, too.

  • Historical lows in crime are because of incarceration. The bad guys are in jail.

  • Black people creating crime is it "The biggest myth" Oh really! I like her to explain the home security footage that displays black people doing crimes at stores and home invasions around the country. How does she explain the black people themselves around the country trying to move away from these areas of "myth"! This woman is delusional.

  • I just listen to your interview on NPR. Where can I start. You want society to embrace people with felonies. The message I got out of your interview is that you hate middle class white people. You can't stand people who keep their nose clean and don't do crime. Yes people who go to prison no longer fit in society and rightly so. I agree incarceration is bad! The death penalty would be a much better option for the crime problem.

  • @Blackeyedpeas1937 Your statement proves that you are Blind to whats really happening in the world.

  • THis is a problem for all people of color and the work to fix it can begin today. What do we need to do at the local level. Where is Tavis Smiley, Dr Cornell West and Al Sharpton on this issue??

  • @Blackeyedpeas1937 wrote "why not just stop doing things that are illegal?"

If you had watched the video in its entirety, you would know that Ms. Alexander addresses your question beginning at 22:50. She answers your exact question; she answers it directly. Watch it.

  • This truth moved me to tears.

  • ok so if you're a dike i should just over look your agenda?

  • @SMOKING5STRING Don't jump to conclusions from her hair style. Michelle is not a dyke. She's married with 3 kids.

  • @joefriendly There are plenty of dykes who are married w kids. Just sayin.

  • @joefriendly I look it up and found that out. however, people who don't like LGBTIQA use such a derogatory word like "dike".

  • @SMOKING5STRING HAHAHAH! WOW!!! SHE HAS CHILDREN AND IS MARRIED... STEREOTYPING MUCH????

  • President Alexander!!!

  • The speech was well done, but a bit too one sided....

  • @Blackeyedpeas1937 The laws criminalizing marijuana, for example, are unconstitutional, infringing upon constitutionally protected individual human rights like liberty and freedom of thought. The basis of the legislation is merely arbitrary politics rather than scientific fact. Marijuana is on the Fed's Schedule 1, as if no medical use whatsoever, with the greatest penalties, when the NIH holds patent 6630507 for medical use of marijuana. It's political oppression, low folks aren't to feel high

  • We know this, we know that many African in America live of the system with out any sense of shame. The question is who is willing to lose their life so as to stop this from happening again and again?

Which African people are willing to move away from so called white people and start a new in a African "country" where they will be able to make their own life?

Arguing with people who refuse to get along with us is foolish,

Beautiful woman though although I want my woman darker.

  • @AfricansAgainstObama

With all due respect, what the hell does her complexion have to do with her knowledge or words? Wow... anything to divert from the truth.

  • @renetrice You are missing the point. I said that "White Supremacy" is the problem,. My personal preference for a black woman is probably not needed.

    White people are the problem.

  • @AfricansAgainstObama

I didn't miss a beat, in fact I concur, that is the problem. But to say that about her appearance serves as a means of discredit, whether you meant to or not. -Peace.

  • @renetrice Okay! Have a great day.

  • Outstanding. Thank you for furthering my understanding of an issue with which I felt familiar. This should be required viewing for every high school and college student nationwide.

  • May you forever be blessed for advocating for our less advantaged.

  • WOW, this lady is picking up, where mlk left off! power to her!!

  • Anyone interested in this topic has to explore the prison writings of the past, but more currently we have Angela Davis, former political prisoner, activist, philosopher. I recommend her ABOLITION DEMOCRACY about the prison-industrial complex. I have never heard Alexander acknowledge Davis. The 2 women seem to talking about the same thing, but Davis brings a radical analysis while Alexander brings a critique, which could easily come from a supporter of the capitalist system.

  • Thanks Joe, I could not make yesterday;'s event. Thanks to you, I can hear Ms. Alexanders truth telling and I can share her passion with like minded friends...

  • Private prisons for profit=new slavery.

  • This professor is awesome.
