They are considered sacred in India, just like a kitten would nip you here in the west they have snakes and bears as pets. The owner must also be a snake charmer, don't be ignorant crackers these guys have no fear that's just how there raised.

Imagine if someone surgically removed the last knuckle of all your toes and fingers. It is crippling and affects the animals' ability to walk. It's an ages old practice in india among the families that practice snake charming and among those who livein the snake infested countryside where snake bites are common especially among toddlers. I think I saw the documentary about this. A few villages in India have families with "pet" cobras. In my opinion, they are crazy. But narrator claimed that cobras get used to people feeding it, so they have nothing to fear from the humans. And they are not big enough to eat a human, and they are well fed, so they have no reason to waste their precious venom on anything that big. My guess is that the cobra did not like the tiny child advancing toward it, so it started hissing, made "dry" bites.
The kid is in absolutely no danger at all. The cobra is all gums and hisses. There isn't a fang or a poison sac in sight.
How many western families allow their children to play with pit bull dogs? And those dogs do have fangs and they are not going to peck at the childs head with a gummy mouth if they attack. They are going to rip the kid appart and they do that every year in the Western world some dork with a dog kills a child. These pricks almost always tell us how ''gentle'' the dog was.
This cobra has no venom and it has not teeth (fangs). This is clearly a family of snake charmers. And if you want to pass on the family business to your children eventually, then they obviously must be brought up with no fear of the creatures they are to work with.

@jjacker111 Removing claws from pets IS animal abuse. You're not just removing the claw, you're actually removing the last knuckle of each toe. Imagine if someone surgically removed the last knuckle of all your toes and fingers. It is crippling and affects the animals' ability to walk. I used to work in a vet clinic and was disgusted by the procedure.

And we all know what house dogs can do yet, plenty of parents allow their young children to play with them unsupervised let the kid and the Snake Play!

Fangs removed or not, this little innocent baby could VERY EASILY have lost one or both eyes, due to the the very powerful and lightening-fast movements of the cobra. may these idiots of so called "parents" never be able to have and purposely abuse any more babies. To say shame on them doesn't say nearly enough. In this country, they would have been jailed within minutes as the cruel, child-abusing idiots they are.

And this is one time, its not like they go out every morning, put the baby in front of a cobra and wait for this to happen. When i was small I used to play with my father snakes like all the time and they bit me too several times. Im still alive, ain't I?

I wish to believe the cobra is defanged, its poison gland removed, and its maxillaries sewn. This contardicts those who postulate this is their custom/ culture to make the baby immune against poison. Exposing the baby to any amount of poison is so irresponsible and so cruel, I wonder what kind of parents, what kind of a photograph to indulge in such a stupid act! Culture, you say! I do agree with the fact that some cultures do this so the baby can grow up fearless of snakes BUT animal cruelty much? the snakes mouth didn't open once. the baby strangled it at the end. and regarding the mouth not opening it was probably sewn shut. here's an idea for those who think this is ok. allow me to sew your mouth close rip out your teeth and venom. put u in the company of a screaming toddler wearing no pants. and let the toddler strangle you. does that sound nice?

It's an ages old practice in india among the families that practice snake charming and among those who livein the snake infested countryside where snake bites are common especially among toddlers. I think I saw the documentary about this. A few villages in India have families with "pet" cobras. In my opinion, they are crazy. But narrator claimed that cobras get used to people feeding it, so they have nothing to fear from the humans. And they are not big enough to eat a human, and they are well fed, so they have no reason to waste their precious venom on anything that big. My guess is that the cobra did not like the tiny child advancing toward it, so it started hissing, made "dry" bites.

The kid is in absolutely no danger at all. The cobra is all gums and hisses. There isn't a fang or a poison sac in sight.
How many western families allow their children to play with pit bull dogs? And those dogs do have fangs and they are not going to peck at the childs head with a gummy mouth if they attack. They are going to rip the kid appart and they do that every year in the Western world some dork with a dog kills a child. These pricks almost always tell us how ''gentle'' the dog was.

This cobra has no venom and it has not teeth (fangs). This is clearly a family of snake charmers. And if you want to pass on the family business to your children eventually, then they obviously must be brought up with no fear of the creatures they are to work with.
