I think you guys misinterpret the reaction. If you look at their faces, they actually look a bit like the want to smile/laugh, but don't, but don't want to be seen doing that. So, instead they just shake their heads or look shocked.
That reaction might be a bit silly in a sense, however, if they know each other personally or have a professional interest, I can see their problem. I'm sure that in a private setting, they would be less reserved, since they are not being judged.
