  • its easy, you wear the mic so it can cancel the noise near your head

  • @sss942 How did it go?

  • Hey fucker this is my invention

  • yah i would buy it too.

For more videos like this and a strong community of great minds, visit ThinkStageDOTcom

  • READ THIS CAUSE IT ACTUALLY WORKS. YOU WILL GET KISSED ON THE NEAREST POSSIBLE FRIDAY BY THE LOVE OF YOUR LIFE. TOMORROW WILL BE THE BEST DAY OF YOUR LIFE. HOWEVER IF YOU DO NOT POST THIS COMMENT TO AT LEAST 3 VIDEOS YOU WILL DIE WITHIN 2 DAYS. NOW UV STARTED READING THIS SO DUNT STOP. THIS IS SO SCARY. PUT THIS ON AT LEAST 5 VIDEOS IN 143 MINUTES WHEN UR DONE PRESS F6 AND UR LOVERS NAME WILL APPEAR ON THE SCREEN IN BIG LETTERS. THIS IS SO SCARY CAUSE IT ACTUALLY WORK

  • The problem with that technique is that it only works for one spot (like headphone sides). So if you have an area (like a room) it would at some points cancel the outside sound and at some points it would ADD the amplitude creating a sound twice as loud.

  • @Blacksun777 wear the mic part near your ears so it doesnt matter where in the room you are. I'd like a device that cancels noise I cant tolerate it when Im trying to fall asleep drives me nuts.

  • @NateC0le White noise machines aren't the same thing. They just make background noise like waves or a waterfall. You'd have to turn the white noise machine up louder than the noise you're trying to get rid of. Even then you'd probably be able to hear the noise you don't want to hear, plus you'd have a super loud waterfall in your living room. With his invention you wouldn't hear anything.

  • first world problems

  • On next week's episode of "Dexter"....

Dexter: Go ahead and scream, they'll never hear you inside my THX sound-canceling room*

  • I can imagine this guy screaming "GET OFF MY LAWN" for some reason. I would love to get his invention though my neighbor's dogs annoy the hell out of me.

  • He should invent a mouth that curse the noisy neighbors until the antinoise idea is constructed

  • This guy is a genius. If this is taken to its full extent, will there be more THX-certified theaters and screening rooms in tight areas?

And don't brag how this guy should be rich but lives in a flat. He likes living simple. He sure has a lot of money from THX, but it's smart for him to keep inventing with that money.

  • this works greatly

  • nothing 5.56 can't fix aye :P

  • But he's nto complaining about the noise coming from the beam....Hes' complaining about the vibration of it. So, theres another problem....FIX IT

  • @mnight207 Sound is micro vibrations. If the vibrations were shown accurately they would be to small and fast to see.

  • LOL shut that fucking dog up!!!!!!

I have neighbour with dog that was barking on and off nearly 2 weeks between 6:50am and 7:00pm at night! I could have shot that dog!!

I mean I want to drown the neighbours out with THX sound LOL!

Anti-noise the baby and dog barking is sign of insanity! 0:16 LOL

I read that the FBI uses baby recordings to flush out drug barons played in reverse at high SPL while surrounding their home with lots of PA speakers. LOL

  • What an incredible idea we can certainly imagine something like this being of tremendous value in New York City. Thanks for sharing.

  • Screw this; lets get 10.2 completed first! 5.1 has been around since 1992 and when it was chosen because it was "the MINIMUM number of channels needed to create a sense of envelopment"

  • Screw this; lets get 10.2 completed first!

  • 0:40 I guess the audience is getting back at Tom Holman! The basketball is thumping...! LOL Why not flat panel speakers!

Woof, woof I have neighbours ground floor that barks for 10 to 12 hours from 6:50am till 7:00pm! I just turn the THX up! LOL

  • @EUROSUN1 Lets see you coming up with BETTER ideas, faggot.

  • good invention and great man

  • Now no one can hear my dates screaming!

  • Irony

  • i think they use this in some plane cabins

  • Now THAT was a good idea. I don't know how possible or impossible it would be to implement, but if somebody came out with a reliable system, I would buy it.

  • @nucleartractor it does work but not perfectly without headphones

  • We have something called sound proofing which already does that job practically and would be a lot cheaper, this is a silly invention for a grumpy old man!

  • I Saw once this in a Car. it was imposible to hear the enginge from inside...

  • This should be called "IMAGINARY Inventions"

  • Thats not how sound cancelling headphones work, no such thing as anti noise

  • A dumb invention indeed. In fact you can`t even call it an invention since it hasn`t been build. Yet Build a good house with descent walls and double or triple glazing and you can hear a pin drop. And it saves energy too. Just imagine the electricity bills and problems of having boxes everywhere in your wall. Who would even build a house with a freaking wooden beams going up. In Europe we build descent houses made mostly from stone so you don`t have such problems to begin with. What an idiot.

  • if you had seen any of the "GOOD inventions" you would know that all inventions are youst fiction!!!

    What an idiot.

  • "if you had seen any of the "GOOD inventions"". Like i`m going to watch any more of this garbage. What an idiot.

  • Scandinavian countries take use of wooden houses, not stone (except for foundations).

  • I`m talking general Europe here. Scandinavia represent a tiny fraction of the EU in population.

  • i have to agree with you (except for "been build" as opposed to "been built"). wood is poor material for a house. europe housing rules.

  • how much to take this system ..

    i need it now please

  • how much to take this system ..

    i need it now please

  • how much to take this system ..

    i need it now please

  • great concept but why not just have a building with pre installed noise canceling insulation

  • The only drawback to this issue is timing and phasing to correctly implement the 180 degree out of phase anti-noise.

Anti-noise only works with certain noises which have a repeated AND predictable noise pattern to effectively cancel out the noise such as motors and engines.

  • The theory is simple: To shift the incoming sound wave 180 degrees out of phase and blast it back to the incoming sound or source. But to implement it in an open space is extremely difficult. This is why the successful inventions related to this concept was through the use of head phones.

  • no way the backflip shoe is the way to go

  • This is ridiculous but didn't know it was real!!!

  • its not, they're are just concepts that would make life better IF they were real. but bad ideas are they? no way!

  • Great idea, by a very handsome man

  • lol?

  • no, not lol. He's handsome

  • I need this.

    Now.

  • i hear fish

  • I don't really understand how this can actually work. The pictures of the speakers bouncing back sound is nice but how does it actually accomplish that? I always thought noise canceling headphones were kind of a scam and didn't work well.

  • there are different levels of noise cancelling headphones. but the dude pretty much explained how it works. try noise cancelling headphones on, there is a power switch on them, turn it off at first, then while the music is still playing, turn it on and feel the lack of sound inside the helm. noise is reduced so the sound is just clearer.

  • Nice !

    but how much ?

  • What about those flat panel loudspeakers placed all over the walls floor and ceiling.

Make a high rise floor and stuff the lot underneath!

  • whats wrong with sound absorbing material

  • I freakin love it when u hear the THX sound come on at the beginning of a movie, my head just about explodes

  • lol I know me too! I remember an episode on the systems had a skit on this sound.

  • 3D so that means the walls ceiling and floor needs to be addressed! 3D! So underneath the floorboards place lots and lots of smaller loudspeakers and above the ceiling in the loft…! Why not just buy a disused missile cylo used during the cold war and make that your home cinema. I mean after all its nuclear bomb proof!

Also is this beneficial and green because that will take up a lot of power and that is not good!

  • O.o

  • It's not at all a new ideea nor the first try to effectively apply it. It's actually a quite trendy direction of research, the main unsolved problem so far being the cost. Until the solution will get cost-effective, probably we'll stick to the traditional sound insulation methods.

  • Oh, i so agree with noise being a severe problem. I only got it at work. Either you close the windows and it's damn warm after a bit or you open them and the sounds of trucks and trains passing all the time drive you nuts. But you have to take care to not cut off the advantage of sound as nature's simplest emergency call system. ;-)

  • yea i can imagine a natural disaster or smth happening outside and u cant hear a thing XD

  • I was actually talking about someone who calls for help and you don't hear that person ...

  • I would pay incredibly good money for that!

I love me some quiet time :)

  • One of the bad things i see with this:

Example: My next door neighbor is beating the crap out of his wife but i can't hear anything cause the anti-sound system is on. It would be even worse if all the apartments had it, then no one would hear the cries for help. Hmmmm... crime 1, anti sound 0.

  • Wow, you would prefer to hear noise all day long because your neighbor MIGHT beat he's wife? You're taking the good citizen idea to a whole new level.

Here's the trick. Maybe your neighbor's wife should find a non-psycho husband...

  • i really question what the american education system teaches people when i see sentences like "beat he's wife" or when people substitute 'are' for 'our'

  • Comment removed

  • this setup would be perfect at a republican convention!

  • Who cares about making money! If you have a workable provable solution with ready at hand materials! Just spit it out!

  • That would take some doing to plaster the walls with speakers! Not sure the wife would allow this to happen thou. LOL Does a mad wife with an axe spring to mind!? Okay so its like inverting the incoming sound frequency kinder like if you applied a single channel that is in phase then pass it though another device to send it out of phase making the sound disappear.

  • First he invents THX then Home THX to drive neighbours up the wall! Which is it? Make up your mind Tom!

What are those tactic sub bass speakers made of? Is it a type of mineral that can be pumped injected into the cavity wall then feed with wires to make it active to reduce incoming sound as well as out going sound or does it only work one-way?

  • Space is a vacuum where sound is impossible to hear except in George Lucas film LOL. So why not stick a vacuum tube into the cavity wall and suck the sound away or wouldnt that work?

  • Its a good idea, but it will probably use alot of electricity and would be expensive.

Vacum is the best isolator, since there's nothing to carry the sound further. Problem solved. Hallow walls with vacum!

  • I was thinking the same idea at least a week ago as I have issues with my custom JBL home cinema. The neighbours are getting upset LOL! but hey I can hear them and that dog two floors down! Shut that fucking dog up! LOL My cat doesnt bark! Yet he meows but not at SPL db of that dog two floors down!

  • Vacuum is also a perfect isolator, since heat can't be transfered thru vacuum. So... Why aren't our walls hallow with vacuum? :\

Patent for this idea, HERE I COME! or not

  • Your wall would implode because the pressure from the air outside it would be far too great. So you would need a lot of strong bars pushing the two parts out to compensate. The walls would have to be made of something strong aswell. It would cost a fortune for a house like that and the sound would still go through the bars you have in between the parts to make sure it doenst collapse.

  • we have yet to form a perfect vacuum. oh and you can't vacuum walls and ceilings and floors coz then the room would have to float. trust me i've thought about this

  • Good point minoshman1, what if the room rested on springs? They will indeed transfer SOME sound, but it would be nothing in comparison.. But yeah, really expensive.. and the door\window would allow the sound come in also...

Buy a house in the woods! Thumbs up everyone.

  • nope man because the radiant heaters or watever they are called in english wouldent work. (the heaters that mainly appartments and big houses have were there are hot water tubes and networks inside the floor to keep the place warm easily)

  • OR THE HARD WAY===EGG TRAYS LMAO

  • this guy is a genious... he should live in a mansion...

(but no, any fucking un talented rapper lives in one of those... not this guy)

  • like lil wayne lmfao

  • @saantinoo Yeah you would think Mr. THX would be mega rich by now! What the fuck is he doing living in black of flats with other people?

  • @saantinoo Most rappers are actually middle lower class. They rent jewelry and mansions.

  • I KNOW, sound proof walls and windows!!!!! ...and it's CHEAPER!!!!

  • I invented this! He stole it!

  • lol, you wish

  • Comment removed

  • a complete waste of resources! there's something called education: ask your neighbor to put the basketball ring somewhere else, and make other people around you conscious of sound pollution...

  • Nice idea, but try going to the airport and ask the planes not to fly so narrow above your house ;-)

  • Sound bounces, invention is impossible to cover even a small room. Why not wear noise canceling headphones? The vibration from the basketball below will still exist even if this invention was installed. If you scream for help, would people from the outside hear you? Since noices will cancel once it hits the wall.

  • yes people will hear if you scream for help

  • how many times have you screamed for help, heard someone scream for help, known someone who has screamed for help, known someone who has known someone who has screamed for help? Sound proof walls and windows help.

  • @DentalHTCorp but think of the converse ,... when making the whooop from inside the room *3 pointer SCOOOORE!!!

  • another source of energy consumption to increase our fossie fuel dependancy >P

  • then get rid ofthe fossil fueel dependency

  • We tried that in our laboratory. Very expensive and not worth it. The cancellation is incomplete and not uniform.

  • the first invention video GOOD has that is actually worth it

thank you GOOD, this one is great!

  • pardon the pun.. it's only semi intentional ... but, the idea seems sound..

(pause for laughter) I think he's just the person to invent this too

    Peace, and Quiet :):)

  • i would buy that

  • Inventor of THX?! Wow, must be rolling in money, bathing in it frankly.

  • Ear plugs are cheaper, and work better. Best of all, you only need two of them.

  • i dont get it...

  • This is my invention! Thief!

  • theres an overall negative response to these new post by GOOD.

    And so there should be.

these ideas are neat, well done and creative. They deserve a voice. its just so fucking unfortunate that its GOOD thats giving it.

For most of us GOOD viewers, This is a massive step down.

I miss transparency and all the other GOOD videos.

I want these inventions to have NO Voice. I just want them to have another voice.

i want the old GOOD back.

p.s. the magazine is a good hold over.

    others shud sub 2 it

  • I agree... these videos are cute, but nothing ciompared to GOOD's older videos.

  • hey fatty, maybe you couldjust get one very wide and tin, so you dont use as many speakers

  • I'm sure you know more about speakers than the inventor of THX.

  • im pretty sure all men have equal mental capacity

  • Obviously you don't. The sound transferred through the walls will not be the same at all areas. With one large amplifier it won't be able to cancel all the different soundwaves in different locations. The smaller & more amplifiers, the less noise slips through.

    Enough capacity for you now?

  • if they fine tune it, it'd be just fine however, its cheaper to find a second-handed garage-rated speakers

about the capacity, you've missed my entire point completely, congrats

  • Comment removed

  • I would buy/rent a place in a heart beat if it came w/ that.

  • As i can think of, producing destructively interfering sound to cancel out noise requires real-time computing, which is obviously not cheap.

  • Thanks Tomlinson Holman, I've used THX equipment in my home for years and it really brings movies to life. I have to say though, this idea seems almost impossible to implement... hope you find a way though ;)

  • ..or you could just insulate with sound deadening material

  • thats nowhere near as creative or expensive! but ur right lol

  • GOOD!

  • tried this years ago when I looked into the noise canceling headphones and had the same revelation (as many other tinkerers must have)

equipment wasn't the problem as I had plenty to "throw at it"

i found that room units just wouldn't fix the problem as sound comes from everywhere you listen for it.

still I think the neighbors cars that go boom, and the train that runs across the street and the neighbor's stereo coming through the walls will always have the advantage of disturbing the peace

  • brilliant

  • Sure you could spend millions on the system and the installiation OR you could just get an Ipod or a White Noise maker. Both of those filter out outside noises XD

  • No, a white noise maker is totally different, you're raising the ambient level of sound energy around you, so that other noises don't stand out so much. That's not the same as noise cancellation, and is ultimately bad for your hearing.

  • this is a good idea but it seems too impractical and expensive

  • lol in the city it would be kinda funny wen u decide to open a window

  • it's anti-noise, but the basketball doesnt just make noise, it also shakes the apartment - which isn't necessarily noise..

  • its a vibration though, and that is what sound is.

  • really? wow, im dumb.

  • this idea isnt good; its brilliant!

  • Hope his idea works.. I hate my neighbours.

  • cool

  • AWESOME - I hope when it is available it will be with in the cost range of the people who need it the most and I'm not talking about fat cats and scum like folks at Goldman Sach's, JP Morgan, or AIG. Catch my drift?

  • it could be dangerous... what if you dont hear people screaming? something bad could be happening and youd have no idea!

  • Great. Now, no one will be able to hear the gunshot or the angiush screams I give because of my body being painfully stabbed. Thanks!

  • Lol, I you think you're going to be murdered I'd focus on security first, then noise canceling.

  • nice! the technology now a days is just awesome!

  • damn this is the first idea that i actually enjoyed watching out of the other ones

  • as interesting as it sound , it would be pretty damn expensive and would consume a lot of energy , instead we can use rubber noise insulation or wood insulator that absorb big range of frequencies and echo-friendly , instead of building with normal wood , build with wood that has insulating capability , also the more space there is inside the walls the less vibration will pass through the wall to the inside or the outside , that basically how we pick good watermelons

  • as inventor of THX he's, i think he can do it, just hurry please :)

  • Superb Idea ! :] he's a genius !

  • The way he said it, it actually seems doable.

  • Pretty cool Idea
