I have a Sony HDR-XR100 and is amazing, but your camera have some feature better of my. But is the same thing both camera have the same resolution and stabilization recording.
My basic camera but with HD resolution is amazing, cost me $800 in Puerto Rico, remember by the shipping.
I'm thinking about getting this camera. I'm impressed by the picture, is the film look captured straight from the camera or did you achieve this with Vegas?
i know this is a dumb question, but is it easy to use sony vegas? i want to start making videos and i need to learn how to use video editing software. would it be good for a newbie like me?
I dont know if vegas is the easiest out there to use, but its one of the best. I find its pretty easy, but the good thing about sony vegas is that there are youtube tutorials for just about everything in sony vegas. So even if you dont find it easy to use you just look up a tutorial for whatever you want to do.
Yea man its the best cam, stabilization and sharpness are amazing, and dont worry about it not having 24p because you can always change the frame rate with software.
Check out my new account though im shutting this one down, ProductionsAdrian
I have the older model. HDR-SR12. how did u get the film look? Was their in effect in Sony Vegas that actually said 'Film Look'. Or did you adjust it yourself?
I used the NewBlue FX addon for Sony Vegas. No its not an effect that said film look, you have to play around with saturation, contrast, difusion, etc.
I'm loving the camcorder, what i like most is the active stabilization. I'm playing on shooting a short film with this soon. I already did a little nature compilation video to test the camera out, check it out on my channel.
I was looking at that too, but it has so many disadvantages. Picture quality is pretty much the same, only thing it is has is the 24p mode, but you can always convert in software so thats not a problem.
The sony has 100x better stabilization, its insane check out some videos, they compare it to professional cameras. Plus a harddrive, plus viewfinder, plus gps (kind of pointless but still fun to use sometimes), I recommend this cam.
The xr500 also performs better in low light, but still the I really like the image quality from the canon and lens is HUGE for it's class. Hard choice.

Great Video; this is the direct footage (.mts files, etc) or do you compress the video with some editing software? How large is this file? Thank's
ivarsgrinbergs 1 year ago
This is .wmv, 1280x720p, its compressed from the original format of .m2ts in Sony Vegas, I think it is around 200Mb in size.

Hey,
Im using Cyberlink Power Director 8.
Is there a way i can do something similar to this?
vaultaddict205 2 years ago
Yea, play around with the colour corrector. Increase contrast, gamma, add a colour tint, try out various settings until you get the film look.
Tablewarrior 2 years ago
@Tablewarrior you should definately make a tutorial this is a great vid! and ive been trying to get it to look like this forever!! haha

i'm shooting with an SR11. . thinking of upgrading. . would it be worth it?

For sure man, the hdr-xr500v is really good. Stabilization is the best of all consumer camcorders, and image is very sharp.

The film look is done with vegas, the new blue fx addon, which uses the super 8 preset.
The raw footage does not look like this.
I used all automatic settings on the camcorder, ex. white balance, auto focus, etc. Basically how the camera is when you take it out of the box.

WICH EFFECT DID YOU USED?
and how i put the movie in 24p?
thx alot
torolof 2 years ago
I used the super 8 effect, played around with the settings, turn flicker and grain down.
You put the movie in 24p by right clicking on the clip, and change the undersample rate to 0.8
Tablewarrior 2 years ago
thanks a lot matte!
i install the new blue fx but i couldnt not find in the vegas 9 olatinium

is the "film look" a camera setting or a effect from sony vegas? which sony vegas do you have?
Cahady 2 years ago
The film look is not a camera setting, I edited it in Sony Vegas 8 pro to give it that film feel.

is this overcranked?

If you mean if its slowed down, no its not. I shot in 60i then converted to 24p.
