Hey everybody! I have released my new album 'Progenitor' which has electronic music inspired by great games such as Xenogears. You can check it out and download it for free on my youtube channel if you're interested!
The storyline was much better than the soundtrack. Xenogears dealt with evolution, religion, psychology, history, myths, and legends and outer space.. watta combo
Ahh, brings back memories, such a musical masterpiece, composed back when quality mattered in video games; Xenogears was one of the best if not the best RPG game I have ever played. This game had such an unforgettable soundtrack that it is one of the main incentives for players to play this masterpiece of a game again besides the interesting story and gameplay. Classic games FTW!!
Now, about Shevat and its theme song... I love it. It's so fresh... Some people say that Shevat reminds them of Zeal from Chrono Trigger... but I first thought of Laputa when I first played the game (I never played Chrono Trigger at that time also... now, I understand the Zeal/Shevat parallels... and other parallels between the 2 games).
Who says Takahashi and Soraya Saga can't go back working for SE just for this game ? And if they don't, some talented people could remake the game originally (some fans would rage I know... but I personally like to get creative with Xenogears because I don't think the original material was really perfect... it has crazy potential however, that's why I'm crazy about it lol).
I won't comment about Xenosaga (since I think this series doesn't deserve all the hate it gets *bitter Xenogears fans are just bitter... Xenosaga could have been close to perfect, they still would have complained and snobbed the series... just because it isn't Xenogears*).
I didn't play this far into the game but it sounds like it would fit in really well within the context of the environment. Anyone know what was going on at this point of the game? Thanks.
@MikeRoePhonicsMusic You really should take the time to play it through. The music has a calming effect after the strenuous journey it took to get here, yet it has a sad and foreboding touch to it as well. I think it's the perfect song to instil a strong emotive response in the player. The only other game which evoked a similar response in me was Final Fantasy VI, and I'm speaking from over 25 years worth of gaming experience from Coleco vision to today. Please play on, it's worth it.
@MikeRoePhonicsMusic without spoiling too much, alot of people die and a religious group turns out to be a front for a shadow organization, then you arrive at this city and shit gets real..er.
I think the whole difference with square enix is that now It's a money making business. It used to be a team of driven specialists that actually really put their soul in their work. Maybe it's me, but I haven't really played a video game from square after 2000 that I liked.
Quite frankly this is one of the greatest tracks in the game and certainly goes with my favorite moments in the game. The entire climb from Babel Tower to Shevat is one of my all time favorite RPG moments.
One of my all-time favorite VGM tracks. This game, like Chrono Trigger before it, had some serious soul. Ah, the days when Square/Enix could do no wrong...
@Lennis01 i feel ya' dude. in the 90s, Squaresoft had the greatest team(s) when it came to RPGs. it's disheartening, really. it just feels like the way things are going these days, we'll never get games with such heart again :\
@Lennis01 No kidding right? I've still remained loyal to square-enix even after the merge.....but MAN i probably haven't beaten a SINGLE game by them ever since the merge, and i would NOT recommend any of the games square-enix has created....seriously, pre-merge both companies were outstanding! AFTER the merge? My god, what happened to all those games? The things money does to people.....
@theleast100seconds Square/Enix hasn't struck out on everything they've done. Final Fantasy 12 was done very well, and The Last Remnant was also pretty good - aside from the random spawning of quest monsters. Ironically, The Last Remnant was properly named - as it represented in my eyes the last remnant of quality gamemaking in the company. When we look at the railroad track that is Final Fantasy 13 and the absolute mess that is Final Fantasy 14, it's hard to deny.
I've been obsessing over it as well... even with sheet music, I don't know if I could ever learn it. There's just so much going on. Zohar002 is a genius.
Funny how despite not playing Xenogears for a decade, this song came to mind. Already on Youtube, I search and find this video...which was uploaded exactly a year this day.
I guess now's a good season for this kind of song. It really is a song so beautiful and peaceful that it makes (most) Christmas music look like a joke in comparison.
that's what I've always said, heh. I'm the only one who thinks Xenogears is at least a partial spiritual sequel to Chrono Trigger. ...at least without all the gears and time traveling.
Xenogears has time travelling elements in a sense -- you're guys don't move through time, but the game focuses heavily on the repercussions of past events in the same way that CT did.
I don't know why, but I love this song ! There is something fresh and aerial in it ( and Shevat reminds me so much of Laputa from the Miyazaki movie Laputa ).
If you haven't heard it yet, listen to the SQ Chips version of this, absolutely mind blowing. watch?v=yiAMekAOMwE
