Tiger's practice range routine is always the same - 56* wedge, 8 iron, 4 iron, 3 wood, driver, 60* wedge, then whatever he hits off the 1st tee that day.

Judging from the swing, the club length, and the high ball flight, I'd say he's hitting an 8 iron in this video.

@whataboutchase I remember watching him playing his second US Amateur at Newport CC in '95, and on his final hole (36th) against Buddy Marucci, he used the 1 iron off the tee. Birdied the hole for a 2-up win. It was a Mizuno MP-29 1 iron, I recall. I haven't seen or heard of it since.

what are you smoking? with that swing speed with a 1 iron it would barely get off the ground, i know tiger can make a 2 iron fly like a 9 iron, but no, not a 1 iron, he would have to hit his draw to even think about it.
