I love how simple this song is, but how captivating the lyrics are. It's as if a hand grabs onto your soul and pulls it into the abyss of which is this emotional masterpiece.
"Giving into love, and sharing my time, letting someone into my misery". The whole damn song could be about a relationship I had last year. Almost frightening.
One part confessional, one part dirge. I love this song so much, but it is difficult for me to listen to them anymore without getting into a manic state; of course they're never good, especially when you take the inner city bus everyday.
he is a prick for never playng this song live. i pay my money for his cd's, live shows etc.. i want this very private and heart tearing moment played for my own selfish inward reasons... now play more sad songs for me monkey.
Probably the ideal soundtrack for suicidal intention moments,,TO MAKE IT FASTER..jokin'..actually, with the album Down Colorful Hill Mark Kozelek makes his mark as one of the greatest rock poets of the 90s, with Mark Eitzel and few others..
my favorite song is 'moments' (amongst a fair few others by Kozelek that I would put before this) - one for the funeral. I have uploaded it, if you care to listen.
Without you" It's a fuckin masterpiece"! "it's like a boatride over the river styx". I want to live but I can't cause your not with me and the world's going blind, it's a state of psycic illness that a lot of people around us feel. The title says it all, "medecine bottle"

"It's that feeling of being a conflicted, non-committal, sexually-confused, 20-something male." WTF??? What a 20-something male is supposed to be is self-assured, confident and sure of his sexuality whatever he chooses that to be. Wishy Washiness is the worst charcteristic of manhood. And this song is pretty lame too. The melody is choppy and the drum break at 6:30 is ineffective, plus the lyrics are way to wordy.
One of the most evocative, haunting songs of all time...probably the best thing Kozelek's ever put out. It's that feeling of being a conflicted, non-committal, sexually-confused, 20-something male.

True art, hands down the songwriter knows how to convey his emotion not in just this song but in his work with Red House Painter's and Sun Kil Moon.

This song makes me depressed. Not because of the lyrics, or chord progressions, but because I will never write something as perfect as this.

IMO, the most perfectly-realized song of all time. It has such a sickly, yearning tension to it...like a hospital waiting room. And those lyrics!
If I could ever write a song like this, my life would be complete

One of the darkest, most expressive songs Ive ever heard.
