thanks for the tutorial, but I used ResHacker, which works perfect for Windows 7 64bits. IF you use ResHacker, make sure to put resource name as 5080 and resource language as 1033 (or the number you have). And, do I really need to boot up with Ubuntu for that to work ? Safe mode won't do ?

I found an easier way to do this, there is a program called" Startup Sound Changer" its free to download and all you do is select the Wav file you want and it will replace the startup sound.

i must say, this is a POOR tutorial. Just by looking at ">imageres<.dll" you can basically see (If you can see) 'image' then 'res' which is very close to what looks like shorter to 'Image resolution'. how can you not pronounce that correctly from start ? you speak english well obviously. lol also. you DONT NEED Ubuntu to replace the file. Download/Install and use Take Ownership option. One million times easier!!! I think you are wasting peoples time.

i've tried from ubuntu, but how do you access the c: drive if its on an entirely different partition?

when I open the imageres.dll in the restuner, restuner says that the "imageres.dll is a 64 bit" and it can't open it unless it's a 32 bit.

Go to start.... and type sound (then click on sound icon)

Then click sounds.... under the windows catergorie, find windows logon

Click it and, click browse... u can then search for a music on ur folders.

If you don't believe me look it up. 64 bit is still sort of new, so just about every program made for 64bit stuff is beta.
