It puzzles me how this song isn't more recognized. I always thought this would've made a perfect wedding song. Gotta admit, though, I'm a bit partial to the 45 RPM version of this song, which doesn't have the string backing...it makes it more primitively appealing without the strings, in my opinion.
@iburiedpaul86 My daughter wanted to have an old-fashioned Southern wedding last June so I showed her this video. She was the 5A Soprano One 1st Chair in Texas. She knows and loves country music and is very good singing every genre. She had never heard this song. This is truly amazing, and your comments, in my opinion, are right on...thanks buddy.
I love this song. It was my beat friend michaela's parents wedding song. But then her mother died recently. This song brought her parents together, and Spreated them. It was a sad moment when they wend down the isle of the church and her dad was crying on her coffin and this song was playing. :(
I have been in fort worth for years. This is the second version of this song with the violins added as an after thought. Used to dance to this at the Box with Carol. five Americans also were a great band here and their label was Abnack or something similar. So many memories.
After Joe Stampley left to go solo, Paula records re-released this single the summer of 1970. It became a big hit in south Fla making the top 20 in Miami and #1 on WKIZ in Key West. It was the #8 song of the year on WKIZ.
Im a Louisville native/singer songwriter/performer, ever so often a song comes along that out lives an era, a generation, a song that has no date stamped on it---This is one of those rare, never old Love songs.....what a shame the writer had to give it away--he & his would have NEVER had any money troubles after this release.....
@syfearsniper man you are so right. this is probably the song that got me on the dance floor more than any since i first heard this. i polished a lot of belt buckles with this one.
After many years apart I finally got together with one of my first loves and it was like heaven on earth. We're getting ready to get together again and if it's half as special as the first I couldn't be happier. This song says so much of what I feel.I love you Babydoll!!!
These guys played my high school graduation in 1966. In the MTV era when one good song got you launched, these guys would have become big time They showed up in Fayetteville one Saturday night, after doing a Friday frat gig, where a great Shreveport cover band, whose name I forget at the moment, was playing. They had won one of the network talent contests-had a horn section, female vocalist, the whole nine yards.
I was actually surprised to find this but thought I would give it a try, I'm glad I did. This song is one of my all time favorites~! I could dance all night to this song alone.
Ms your right and it is sad cause it was written especialy for his love and he only got 200 dollars for it. :-( it did play on WAKY the louiville station in his honor for 10 yrs
Just an update of the honest truth about the song "All These Things"! My uncle Tom Maxedon wrote this song when he was 16yrs old in the 60's for my aunt Carrie! He is from Lou,Ky and tried for some time to get something done with the song in Nashville but in a financial hardship he decided to go ahead and sell his rights to the song! As much as I love this song, and listen to it often, it still breaks my heart to know he wrote it and will never get the credit for it that he so dearly deserves!!!
@MsDolphins1973 my gosh, that's a heartbreaker...a travesty...can't even imagine...well, when I put it on my facebook, my gosh, everyone just falls in love all over again...only a few songs have this power...how inspired he must have been...we love it Ms. Dolphins...thanks
@MsDolphins1973 - The DJ for a Louisville radio station just played this song a half hour ago and when it was over he paused and said that it was the #1 requested there this summer back in 1966. They still play it every so often - beautiful and perfect song!
@MsDolphins1973 I love the song and knew the Uniques, I danced and loved to it in 1966 and other years. I believe you and will remember this! god Bless you and your Uncle.
@MsDolphins1973 that breaks my heart, I was just listening to this song on WAKY station today and decided to listen some more on youtube and seen this. I googled and yep he sure did write it and in the year I was born! How is your uncle? I want to thank him for writing such a beautiful song and makes it all the more special being from the city I was born and raised in!
Joe Stampley and the Uniques played at LaSalle High School in Olla, Louisiana around 1969. The next year we contracted the Uniques to play at our prom but Joe had already left to go out on his on. The prom was a big disappointment because without him they sucked.
I don't think this is the first version of this song. I remember KEEL in Shreveport played this version around 1970, and it was the first version I had heard. Later, I heard the version without strings and sweetning. This one is much better.
Brings back lots of memories! They used to play at Fat City in Kilgore, Texas live and were totally awesome. Bet that All These Things was about a million couples "Our Song"
First heard this song on an old KLIF Klassics (Dallas, TX radio station) album in the early 70s. I played it over & over and have done the same since I found it here. I love this beautiful song. This version is perfect!
This song is one of my favorite songs of all time, I am surprised that this song never made it to number one, it should have been number one. I am aware that he did a country version of this song that made it to number one, but my heart belongs to the 1966 version on Paula Records, it is the ultimate love song. Regards: Henry W. Pope

Seems like it got close to if not #1 on the country charts years later
Yea, looked it up, it has been a while hasn't it....
n 1971, Stampley signed with ABC-Dot and the remake of "All These Things" as a two-step, which reached #1 on the country chart
