Imagine if SEGA Channel comes back nowadays. How? With the modern Smart TV's. They could make some Smart TVs with a "sega channel app", and also come with some kind of a SEGA Genesis controller; obviously it won't be a service that you pay monthly, but more like Wii's Virtual Console, but they can still make it retro. It would be awesome.

I never had sega channel, but I remember going to a friends house who had it. I thought it was so cool. I remember I wanted it, but we didn't even have cable when I was a kid, so I knew I could never have it.

I had many memories from Sega Channel when I was a kid.

Now I play Sonic through an Genesis emulator. I remember playing Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles in a special category for Sonic.

A few years ago, I learned that both of those games connect to each other to form one big game, Sonic 3 & Knuckles. This was supposed to be the real "Sonic 3", but because it was too big to fit into one cartridge, they had to split it in 2 by creating Sonic&Knuckles.

I forgot, was there a way to access this?

The flaw with Sega Channel was that if your parents were paying for cable TV, they wanted to fucking use it, and they can't if their kids are hogging the TV all the time.

Most of you guys might not realize this, but the reason all those fake parents come out saying stuff like "and it keeps my kids at home" is because there were these things in the early 90's called 'arcades' where some real shady types would be hanging around. This included drug dealers, drugies, gangs, and ex-cons.

Because of that, and because it cost less to have the Sega Channel for a month than it did to buy 2 Sega games, it was an easy choice for parents.

When I actually think about it now, it really was pretty damn amazing. I mean going from having to buy games, or rent them, no demos or anything and then Sega Channel comes along and you get to play tons of games all coming through a wire. Crazy :D I just wished I actually paid more attention to it, I missed out on a lot of games cause I was too busy playing like... Beavis and Butt-Head or Earthworm Jim.

I remember the first ad I saw for te Sega Channel was in a comic book. I wanted it sooooo bad, but my parents didn't think it was such a good idea. We had satellite & I think Sega Channel may have been exclusive to cable folks. Anyway, I got to experience it when I visited my cousins in NY that following summer. Good times, man!
