Once you tell these cut men they are immune to HIV they will infected, like the nearly half-million dead US men who got AIDS even though they were circumcised at birth.
On the one hand, all our team feel very thrilled that we may have contributed to something that is going to make a real difference in the world, but they are daunted by the challenge of how do you scale this up and provide it safely and guard against an increase in sexual risk behaviours.
Ronald Gray: Collaborating with Ugandan researchers on HIV trials, Lancet, 2007.
the "Rakai project" has been running since 1988. All this funding from the National institutes of Health and the Bill Gates foundation. What have you actually achieved? Hardly anything.Circumcision is going to undo the little you have done by encouraging promiscuity and non-condom use, thinking they are immune.
I'm not surprised the WHO is recommending circumcision if they are only getting the biased view of Wawer and Gray.
Circumcision does not stop HIV transmission. Suggesting circumcision as a solution is like handing a child a revolver with 1 bullet instead of 2. Eventually they will get the bullet.
What is different about the Ugandan penis compared to an American penis? How will circumcision of Ugandan men protect them when it certainly didn't protect the many circumcised HIV+ men of the USA?
This is one of the biggest medical frauds ever promoted. Circumcision has a 140 year history of looking for medical justification.
Why not call it "Operation Death?"
