Привет вам из России от ОАО РЖД,Я сам работаю железнодорожником но глядя на то как вы работаете и каким инструментом мне вас становится жалко .В России вы не продержались бы такими темпами и года
I worked on the Rails across the Island, drove the spikes (most spikes were only driven in so far and a piece of equipment called the spiker drove them the rest of the way),jacked the rails, replaced the ties. In the 80's on the Gaff we replaced a tie from the 30's. On those old used ties you have there you might see a small tack with a number marked on them. maybe 68,that would mean the year the tie was put in. I saved many and now I have some great souvenirs. Thanks for posting your video.
Looks like 85lb rail. Do you know where the rail was made? Just wondering if it said Dominion or Sydney on the side, if so it was made in Sydney, Nova Scotia. Which is where I live. It would be nice to see a few miles or track relayed and have an operating train for tourists.
@TrainGuy18 The property belongs to Newfoundland Hardwoods limited, they no longer use these tracks and have been abandoned, they are in the process of removing all this track, the folks i was helping build some track are trying to rescue both of those switch points to add to there display, they intend to put the plymouth to work by moving around the cars on display right now! and the surprise is going to be so SWEET!!
@TrainGuy18 Just an update buddy, int he spring, we are going to to start laying the 600ft of Narrow gauge track, Clarenville has a load or ties and rails donated! i cant wait !!!
@Losaru well, i plan to head WEST this summer during my vacation time, i well be heading all the way to St.Georges and Pasadena! so i well be checking out some of the track bed out west on the way!! Including Gambo, i always wanted to walk across the tressel in Gambo! looks pretty cool from the highway!

Another positive story about the reclaimation of just a tiny piece of our train history. Bit by bit our story is being retold and relived. Thanks !
