  • I've been there. I was stationed in Ortakoy. 10th USAFAD. We used to drive by there on the way to Istanbul. We stopped once and they gave us a little tour of the place. I believe there were 10 Coast Guard personnel stationed there. Their mission was manning the big radio tower. I bought one of their hats for ten bucks. I've got the patch from off the hat somewhere.
