  • HAHAHAH DONT YOU WANT TO TOUCH ME , MY TOUCH WILL BREAK YOU IN TWO!!!

  • black hawk down love this movie :p

  • Would this work with 6 gbps sata cables?

  • I got the same blu ray drive.. Do you know if it would play region one blu rays??

  • did this play blurays right out of the box or did you have to download software

  • does it support 3d plz get back 2 me thanx

  • i have the same monitor as you

  • me geting one of these

  • can i have it?

  • cool i want one

  • @ieatcheez4breakfast I use DVI (HDMI and DisplayPort would also work), but even so, the monitor itself needs to be HDCP compatible for PowerDVD to let you play Blu-Rays. If you don't have an HDCP compliant monitor or you're using VGA or something, just use AnyDVD.

  • Hi,

Saw your post. I am planning to buy blu-ray drive in next few days.

    my configuration is

    OS-Windows 7, Core i5 3.2 Ghz

4 GB RAM, 1 GB GT 240 Nividia Graphics Card

    500 GB HDD, 18.5" LCD Samsung Synmaster B1930 ( VGA )

Would I be able to run the blu-rays discs smoothly ( ofcourse I am long time user of slysoft anydvd).

    Regards,

    Sriram

    India.

  • was just considering buying the Samsung SH-B123L blu-ray drive and found this video. Wierd, you have the same super writemaster primary drive, and the same samsung syncmaster tv monitor and the same blu-ray drive if i get it lol

  • @AnthonyKinson Get it then! :D

  • @otnomnoraa

Does this drive also read normal DVD/ CD?

  • @MrGrandDragon yes all blu ray drives do

  • @AnthonyKinson Me the same lolol... I got super writemaster speed+ And i was getting this thing aswell.. :P

  • Hello, I want this but I can't have it if its a touch button. It doesnt say it is anywhere but looks like it might be?

  • @limbn003 Touch button? It's a mechanical button, and it's standard form factor so it will work with any chassis. Hope that answers your question :P.

  • COOOOOOOOOOOOOL SAMSUNG BLU RAY RIVE FUCK LG SAMSUNG IS NUMBER 1

  • can you install bluray drives to a laptop? i don't know i was just curious..

  • @mymovievideos Yes, but they have to have a laptop form factor. Forget the dimensions, but it should be easy to figure out.

  • i got this drive a while ago, and on a lot of blu rays it starts to skip and stutter. Some aren't playable at all. I was looking for software updates, but couldnt find any. is there any settings i can play around with to maybe get the playback to work better?

  • @roont that is exactly whats hapening with mine. please let me know if you fix it

  • @liam0006 Read what I said to the other guy. When I first got this drive it sometimes skipped in the middle, up until I updated the firmware and restarted.

  • @otnomnoraa well now i downloaded the odd firmware update program it says there is no new firmware and it is exactly the same. i really don't think that its my video card and the blu ray advisor program that I got says that everything will work. i cant find any free software on the internet that will play blu ray so if you know of any can you let me know. and i have reinstalled windows 7 and it still doesn't work

  • @liam0006 Well, the manufacturer warranty should still be good. It's 1 year. Optical drives aren't the most reliable components.

  • @roont Have you tried updating the firmware? Tried a different video card, or Blu-Ray playback software? Or a different OS install?

  • hench

  • I got myself a B123 the past week, via MicroCenter, it seems to have Lightscribe, there's software suite for it I believe. Wondering more about what I need for a complete system, My friend is an IT guy, says I need more then one core for a CPU to work BD well, and it's memory intensive so have plenty of RAM on hand. Now, what do you all think? What have you found??

  • whats the difference between this and Samsung SH-B123A

  • @xodaQo Actually, it's 23". My bad.

  • @otnomnoraa My set is Viore 32 inch HDTV with a VGA input, and I advise to get a flat panel TV that's PC friendly! I bought a DVD player with VGA out years earlier, in fact, to go the other route! Now it's HD and component friendly

  • @xodaQo 18.5 inches

  • You can still watch DVD's throught this drive though?

  • What graphics card do you have? I have this same exact drive. But it doesn't look that good when I play Blu-Ray Discs. I already I have a 1080p monitor. But it doesn't look that good. I need a new graphics card that supports 1080p Blu-Ray Playback.

  • @kwweaver95 I was using a Sapphire HD 5770 1GB. Almost all of the DX11 cards are very competent at Blu-Ray playback, so I'd recommend getting one of them if you can afford it; cards like the 5670 and 5570 are quite cheap.

  • @otnomnoraa Well I have a pretty good graphics card. But I didn't built my computer. My dad did. Who is an expert at computers. I think it's just my monitor. I have a Acer V213h 21.5" Widescreen LCD Monitor. It has a low contrast ratio. I might need to get a new monitor with a higher contrast ratio. Like a Samsung 2333HD-1.

  • @otnomnoraa Im planning on getting that exact card.. how is it? how does it handle gaming?

  • Mongol is an awesome movie quality looks great

  • Nice, I think this would be the perfect replacment for my current optical drive, and the light on the drive is also blue so it goes with the other blue lighting on my computer

P.S. What is the name of the song

  • @HurricaneNWG Kalmah - Hades. Thanks!

  • @otnomnoraa thanks

  • nice man

  • Does it come with PowerDVD Ultra?

  • @RCT3Xtreme95 I'm not sure if it's "Ultra" or not, but it definitely comes with PowerDVD to play your Blu-Rays and DVD's with. Sorry.

  • Im curious about the noise this drive makes as well, I am thinking of getting for my Home Theater system and noise is important factor when installing it in that type of device, any one comment on the noise level?

  • @polo151821 While playing a Blu-Ray, it sounds like a gentle stream of compressed air; when under adequate load, it can sound as loud as a handheld fan. Which isn't bad, in my opinion; it's probably the same noise level as your standard Samsung DVD drive.

  • Hi, can this drive play normal dvd's?

  • @scarkunt It sure can, and I love mine.

  • Is it noisy? When it playbacks dvd's or Blu rays?

  • @Whitesparrows94 Quieter than most DVD burners spinning up, if that helps.

  • also, is the /RSBP any different?

  • would a flatron w2243s be capable of showing bluray?

It is 22" with FULL HD.

i hope this spec info helps. the reason i'm not sure is because it is a VGA connection.

    someone please help = )

  • @ozzymate666 Unfortunately, I don't think your monitor would support the HDCP requirement of your output, as VGA is analog and it requires a digital output like DVI or HDMI. However, AnyDVD ought to get rid of any HDCP compliance problems. As for the other model (RSBP), I'm not quite sure. You could examine the specs further, but it appears to be the same drive, and it has similar reviews. Good luck! I've been loving this drive!

  • @otnomnoraa well i have a 9800gt 1gb with two DVI outputs, so does that fix anything, even the cable is VGA?

  • @ozzymate666 It's the Blu-Ray playing software itself that limits you. If it doesn't detect HDCP incompliance, you'll be fine. AnyDVD got rid of compliance problems for me. You could look more into it.

  • i like your video but why must you damage the viewer ears with syou heavy metal music shit

  • @obecker85 Lmao... I can't tell you. Please watch my new vid. It's worlds ahead...

  • hey, how decent do normal dvd's look wih this??

  • thx for the vid you helped me alot and i am buying it now ;-)

  • how big is your monitor?

  • @juliortega Only 23" )=... but it's big enough for me I guess. Model has been updated by now too.

  • I loved this video :) I'm gonna get this Bluray reader right away. I didn't want to buy an external one since I only use my headset when watching films + I have an awesome soundcard In my computer. Gosh can't wait :) This will be so badass!

  • @Burken1337 Definitely, good move! I have an HT Omega Claro Halo XT and it really makes a difference. I'm surprised you liked the video though! =D

What sound card do you have?

  • i hope you enjoyed the kingdom of heaven. it was long, but good. also getting the same drive tomorrow in the mail. great video :D

  • @Joshinnator Thanks a bunch man! I thoroughly enjoyed Kingdom of Heaven too. It's one of my favorite medieval era movies thanks to a simply awesome cast and an even better director. You should pick it up on Blu-Ray if you haven't already, because it was definitely a dazzling and immersive experience on that format.

  • 79.99 now and i got it for 59.99 with a gpu.

  • @madmaxismadd Urgh. I bought it for $99.99 + $5.99 shipping + tax.

  • can you use it as a CD-ROM drive also?

  • @SYPHILIS2099 Yup.

  • So this plays blu rays 8x, what does that mean. Is that good?

  • @SCAREDBANANA Pretty decent. I have no idea what exactly that indicates, but it's quite speedy at skipping to different parts of a movie. The actual read speed is somewhere around 6x, which is especially good for the price (they never perform up to spec).

  • @otnomnoraa

That speed is just an arbitrary transfer rate defined in the blu-ray spec. According to the listing for write speeds on Wikipedia's blu-ray page (which I assume are the same for read speeds), a 1x speed drive transfers at 36Mb/4.5MB per second. You can just multiply the rest out (at 8x this drive should be 288Mb/s or 36MB/s, or 216/27 if your 6x estimate is accurate).

The same page also indicates that a blu-ray movie should never require more than 54Mb/s (between 1x and 2x).

  • @Catamount1412

Confirmed that that speed is accurate. This means that a drive actually running at 8x should be able to transfer the contents of an entire dual-layer blu-ray disc in about 23 minutes.

  • @Catamount1412 Cool! Thanks, man. I take it you have the same Blu-Ray drive?

  • @otnomnoraa

I have one coming by mail right now. For now, All of my time/speed figures are just based on numbers from official blu-ray specifications. We'll see well this drive lives up to them in a few days when I get mine :)

  • @SCAREDBANANA Yeah. 8x is pretty good. You have to look at the data density on a blu-ray disc as compared to a CD. spinning a blu-ray at the same rpm as a CD, in one rotation, the laser sees many more data sectors than on a CD. I think blu-ray movie players only require 1.5 - 2x.

  • lol very sticky

  • Did you do a Cyberlink BD Advisor check? if so, did it have the Video Decoders green or red before inserting the drive? I'm just trying to make sure before I buy mine, because it's red on mine. Oh and how big is your screen? If you don't mind answering.

  • @humbert0acevedo No, I didn't... I already have a pretty nice video card installed. I could check and let you know tomorrow. And my screen is 23", 1080p. Thanks and NP :).

  • @otnomnoraa Alright thanks, is that the Samsung 2333HD? But yeah, I have the ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro which has everything Blu Ray needs, pretty much everything is at recommended settings except for those decoders. I hope i'm not causing too much problem asking that many questions.

  • @humbert0acevedo No, it's the 2333SW, which is also fortunately HDCP compliant. Good luck! It wouldn't hurt to upgrade anyway. ATI's line of DX11 cards is nothing short of excellent, a sharp contrast to previous generations.

  • @otnomnoraa I might do that later, right now I'm just concentrating on upgrading my CPU and as well putting the Blu Ray Drive. I have already spent about $300 upgrading my PC to be perfect since it's a cheap brand(eMachines, low budget) I already installed a better Graphics Card and the Samsung 2333HD I mentioned on the last message.

  • @humbert0acevedo HD 2400 pro didn't do good with blu ray or HD videos for me.

I currently have a 4670 now thouh, I just built a whole new system anyway.

  • @Avataryoutuification Oh, it's cool anyways I bought a PS3 last week.

  • 1:55 so it can read CD/DVD ?

i am planing on getting this Drive,

    Cheers !

  • @swedishgamer Yeah. And it's a great drive. Remember that firmware SB01 just came out too; good luck!

  • Comment removed

  • How loud is it when you are at quiet moment? Would you recommend?

NICE COMPUTER :) and that case xD

  • @Jeahavee Yeah, I would, especially for the price. It only makes a slight hum when running; for me, it's almost inaudible. The firmware update made it a little quieter. And thanks :).

  • Nice Mr. Montooooooo!

  • shit i can't find drivers for this Blu ray player anywhere! help!

  • @FLORENAS Firmware SB01 just came out last week. I'm going to download it myself. Google "SH-B083L SB01"; the original firmware works, but the update might increase the read speeds. You're also going to need some kind of dedicated Blu-Ray playback software, like PowerDVD Ultra. Good luck!

  • @otnomnoraa I've updated the firmware a few days ago as i couldn't make my Blu-ray to read discs. Surprisingly, all i needed was a Blu-ray player. I've downloaded Power DVD just like you mentioned and Viola! it works!

It's strange because Windows XP couldn't recognize the Blu-ray disc at all.

I only found it through PowerDVD.

It's my first Blu-ray drive and it sure is a whole new dimension out there ^^

Thank you for your help and I wish you all the best!

    PS:Sorry for my english ^^

    Martynas

  • what software do you use?? (and what does it cost??)

  • @karst1hans1 Just the software that came with the drive will work, but I was using PowerDVD 9 Ultra, which came with my Blu-Ray burner.

  • I got this for £49.99 at Ebuyer, It's still on offer. Hurry!

  • @benneb07 Such BS. I bought this darn thing ON SALE for $100, with $7 shipping. Now it's $60 retail on Newegg. You got a steal :D.

  • @otnomnoraa yeah i got one from Ebuyer too (OEM version). You can now find the retail version for £50. =)

  • Talking of excruciating, that music was a complete pain. If you're going to go for irritating background music, go for something with an irritation factor of less than 8/10. Make sure that you leave some irritation room for your painfully dull commentary.

  • @HauKai I know, I know... it was bad. It was bad. I'm thinking of just doing audioswap on this shit.

  • @otnomnoraa Sorry for being harsh BTW, I'm just pretty sick of the frequency of this kinda BGM.

  • @HauKai No problem; I agree wholeheartedly. The more I watch this, the more I dislike it. Haha. I did a really bad job. You can't understand what I'm saying half the time; I ramble, stumble over my words, talk slowly, use filler language, and I have awful timing; AND the music is rather lame and poorly incorporated. Even the "special effects" (I feel "special" calling it that) are just plain embarrassing at the end.

I'm glad you stuck around long enough to leave a comment at the very least.

  • Nice video I am looking for a good blu-ray player. I would like to know what kind of computer case you have and where it can be bought.

Thanks look forward to more videos.

    Kenny

  • @ncrdisabled Computer's custom-built with an ATCS 840. You can watch my other video for the full specs :D. Thanks!

  • Did the drive come with playback software? I know the software can get to be much more expensive than the drive itself.

  • @lukemayes33 Mine did, and it's what I used to play the Blu-Rays.

  • @lukemayes33 Mine did, and it's what I used to play the Blu-Rays.

  • Appreciate the time to detail this. Mine may be the stupidest complaint ever, but I hesitate to buy this model because that chrome door will jar with my all-black scheme PC.

  • @MrFamilyguyguy Haha, you're not the only one. However, if you also have a Samsung monitor like mine, you might want to reconsider... the corresponding Samsung labels are jizz-worthy. I admit to being a tad of a Samsung fanboy though. They make the best monitors and the fastest disk burners.

  • see is it just me...well it probbily is...but i have a samsung blu ray i bought and it is a PIECE OF SHIT....not picture quality..no the picture is awesum but the fact I HAVE TO WAIT 10 YEARS FOR A MOVIE TO PLAY.Why people? why do I have to have the shitty blu ray expderience...the funny part about this too is i put in a regular dvd in that same player...and it works fine...HOW THE HELL DOES THAT MAKE SENSE

  • @joejoerg Your comment is a little hard to make sense of, but this Blu-Ray drive actually reads faster than most 8x Blu-Ray players of the same grade (about 6x).

  • awesome case? what z the model?

  • @ExtraTerrestrials Cooler Master ATCS 840 (Silver). It's quite awesome indeed :D.

  • What is the song ?

    Nice review !

  • @xXLawlietStrifeXx Song is Kalmah - Hades.

    Great Finnish band :).

  • @otnomnoraa Thanks you :)

  • really looks great but there are cheaper blu ray drives tempting me

  • can you burn video on to a blu ray disc with that drive

    good video

  • my drive coming in 2 days :D incl. a Blu ray

    cant wait. :D

  • Nice video,

how fast pc do you need for this bluray playback ?

  • Comment removed

  • yeah this seems to be the only video of it, and pictures arent always right. atm im using a ps3 for all my blu rays but id rather have a drive for the pc instead.lol your voice is ok btw ;)

  • Thank you very much ! I will buy it.

    Dominic

  • Thanks man! I just wanted to get a video up so people could catch a glimpse of it =)!

  • convinced me to get this thankyou

  • Glad I could be of help! Hope you could understand my muffled voice =).
