I have one of each. A Gibby LP Joe Bonamassa sig and a Fender Strat!! Love them both for what they "bring to the table." Both Gibson and Fender are superb. Consider the roots of guitar down in the delta waaaaay back, with cigar boxes and 3 strings. We're ALL blessed these days. Just play.
You need one of both. Ther eis no way to get both in one guitar. Even PRS cannot duplicate the tonal difference between a Strat , and Les Paul. Of course both are completely different animals. Different Materials , different methods of build, different string scale/neck scale/ different pick ups, single coil, vs. humbuckers, different output pots, etc. etc. BTW you should tune that thang up before posting . It really gives a bad interpretation. Also learn how to use your tone controls.
lol, this video didnt have the best settings on each guitar, but personally anything made by gibson to me is, big, heavy, wide and uncorfatable. most of them are too fuzzy sounding and theyre a bit cheesey (explorer & sg being the only ones i like) fenders are nicer looking, more hardcore and have better feel and tone. gibsons just feel unstable cause the necks are glued not bolted and the action is always too high. also seems they go out of tune too much
How can you fairly post a comparison of the two guitars when 1. Neither guitars are even in tune at all. That's not fair to the guitars at all nor the listeners ears.
2. Your technique is dodgy at best and all you are doing is playing these musical "cliche's" and not doing them well by the way.
Not fair man............ (an owner of both guitars you are trying to demo)
something's amiss here... its nothing with a Strat or a LP for sure !! Yes, something..... i can't believe those 2 guitars sound as bad as a 80 bucks starter kit guitar. Perhaps the skill with bending..maybe a bit of Gain..and perhaps an Amp ??? Sorry..but that was the first impression!
@jhonnyfifafreak11 They're different companies, they both have a different sound and niche. Strat's produce a sound that relatively is quite normal, origionally for blues. Les Pauls are rock and roll. Jimmy Page, Joe Perry, they all used them. Better sound. But that might be a little biased since i like gibson les pauls more, haha.
i own a start which is kind of bluesish n from what i see it has alot of variety.the les paul foucuses on the 2 gold zones in depth n i also have a les paul. but it all depends on the style u like u can get any sound out of any guitar u jst need the right equipment. but i have to admit i love my start ALOT
I don't like how Fender got away from the big head stock, the little head stock just looks weird. I like the 60's/70's style big headstock on my stratocasters.
Your Mexican strat is slightly out of tune and your frets buzz. Also why dont you try them out on a heavily distorted channel? How many people play just a clean channel all day long? Theres no way you can make a decent comparison until you do. Your Gibson is out of tune as well. It can be heard each time you hit a chord.
In my opinion it all depends on the song, tho if I had to choose I would say nothing beats the warm noise of a nice telecaster or stratocaster. Gibson is still nice, but I would rather buy an Epi since I find almost no diffrence between epi and gibson unlike squier and fender
@tippy400 Are you talking about those bullets? Cause those things reek... but not all epis are similar in feel to gibsons... Ever played an lp special? Gross.
@Kingddd333 I've played an actual sg gibson, a les paul and a flying v, yes there nice, but honestly I still rather spend $500 on a sg epiphone then a few thousand oon a gibson sg. Its all opinion and mine is I rather a telecaster. Been playing for 8 years now :P Mostly bass now tho.
@candianguy3 I own both...American standard strat..and Studio les paul....and love them both. But if i had to choose...id go with the strat...when I die I want to be buried with my strat...ill never part with it
Whether you prefer the Fender or Gibson in this case, is subjective. Depends on which you personally prefer, tone, playability, feeling, etc. Personally, I'd go for the Gibson, because I like that it's heavy, it has a better playability (IMO), and sounds better to me. A better Rock N' Roll guitar for me. Basically just feels and sounds better :) Then again, it's all up to the individual, I'm sure Fender is the best for some people too.
i have an Ibanez SA20, and it soudns excatly like the Les Paul - The Strat has a brighter, sharper, crisper sound, but the Gibson, like my ibanez, is great for rock and metal :)
Strat has a bit more of a fight to pla it to get the rewards of the tone. Longer scale and string tension. Les Paul is like cadillac its smooth fast and slick with low profile fat frets and 24.75 scale less tension on the strings.
I don't know I like Jimi Hendrix's ballad tones. Wind Cries Mary, Castles made of sand etc. Voodoo.
Then for the Paul I think Jimmy Page but then again he used a fender tele on first album.
well i think that both guitar are both very good! it depends on what you want to play ! for disortion gibson are the best but if you want to play slow melodic songs such as balands i think that strat are the best for these songs! ;)
@OldManPoopOrgy I played a <$200 fake SG model (not even a brand!) for 8 years and I just recently bought an american standard strat... I think I have you on that one :P how's your flying V?
Honestly, I really don't like the looks of a strat. I think when I see it it's like a ten year old boy's first guitar. Just personal preference xD But I adore the les paul. I have expensive taste xD
@RezCONNECTION Lol, probably. That or my dude friend's first guitar was a strat and it sounds horrible in his hands xD And I think he got it when he was 9/10
nice playing. personally I prefer using Single Coils for clean and Humbuckers for distortion. Anybody else got an opinion as to what type they prefer for particular sounds?
this does not do the les paul justice give that to me and ill be screaming some Skynyrd and then play some Zeppelin and ACDC but give me thestrat and ill be in Jimi Hendrix mode and Robin Trower and Pink Floyd.

@misterguitar360 well said, I have a les paul and It is great for the classic rock stuff my band plays and it also puts out a descent blues sound but for that authentic blues sound i would deffinately rather play on a fender.
why did you play led zepplin on a stratocaster while jimmy page plays a les paul

@misterguitar360 well said, I have a les paul and It is great for the classic rock stuff my band plays and it also puts out a descent blues sound but for that authentic blues sound i would deffinately rather play on a fender.

I play both Fenders and Gibsons, I'm not bias to either one, I like them both.
