  • why did you play led zepplin on a stratocaster while jimmy page plays a les paul

  • Ever since I got my strat, I;ve been wishing I'd spent the extra $300 for a Gibson Les Paul...

  • Gibson

  • Strat

  • gibson is best ;)

  • What is the song

  • Nice umm what song is that @ 0:02 & 0:55 ?

  • Two great guitars that sound horrible here!

  • I have one of each. A Gibby LP Joe Bonamassa sig and a Fender Strat!! Love them both for what they "bring to the table." Both Gibson and Fender are superb. Consider the roots of guitar down in the delta waaaaay back, with cigar boxes and 3 strings. We're ALL blessed these days. Just play.

  • You need one of both. Ther eis no way to get both in one guitar. Even PRS cannot duplicate the tonal difference between a Strat , and Les Paul. Of course both are completely different animals. Different Materials , different methods of build, different string scale/neck scale/ different pick ups, single coil, vs. humbuckers, different output pots, etc. etc. BTW you should tune that thang up before posting . It really gives a bad interpretation. Also learn how to use your tone controls.

  • what is the first song ?

  • I prefer my strat for clean and my lp for bluesy type music and my tele for metal. Looks wise i prefer the tele but thats just me ;0)

  • love your les paul, but yeah, the amp didn't give it's sound an all-out quality

  • lol, this video didnt have the best settings on each guitar, but personally anything made by gibson to me is, big, heavy, wide and uncorfatable. most of them are too fuzzy sounding and theyre a bit cheesey (explorer & sg being the only ones i like) fenders are nicer looking, more hardcore and have better feel and tone. gibsons just feel unstable cause the necks are glued not bolted and the action is always too high. also seems they go out of tune too much

  • How can you fairly post a comparison of the two guitars when 1. Neither guitars are even in tune at all. That's not fair to the guitars at all nor the listeners ears.

    2. Your technique is dodgy at best and all you are doing is playing these musical "cliche's" and not doing them well by the way.

Not fair man............ (an owner of both guitars you are trying to demo)

  • 72 people prefer PRS

  • something's amiss here... its nothing with a Strat or a LP for sure !! Yes, something..... i can't believe those 2 guitars sound as bad as a 80 bucks starter kit guitar. Perhaps the skill with bending..maybe a bit of Gain..and perhaps an Amp ??? Sorry..but that was the first impression!

  • You can't compare/contrast any guitar. It's all in what tone you want in your instrument.

  • Not one better...

    The Two guitars rocks !

  • it should be les paul trad. vs fender custom shop. that would be a good show down:)

  • You're stupid.

    Why?

The competition between this two guitars is in our heads only.

But, mainly, using those good guitars with that amp is really stupid. Find a good valve amp, good cable and TUNE your guitars.

    All the best wishes.

  • LES PAUL!!!!!!!

  • i have the exact same stairway to heaven wallpaper

  • Bitch all you want, Jimi was out of tune at Woodstock and he pulled it off with his strat.

  • A strat sounds better when its IN TUNE!

  • PESIMO, AMIGO...

  • JACKSON RANDY RHODES!!!!!! FTW!!!!!!

  • hey man what is the main differneces between the strat and a gibson??

  • @jhonnyfifafreak11 They're different companies, they both have a different sound and niche. Strat's produce a sound that relatively is quite normal, origionally for blues. Les Pauls are rock and roll. Jimmy Page, Joe Perry, they all used them. Better sound. But that might be a little biased since i like gibson les pauls more, haha.

  • @Evan42881 Stratocaster is rock n roll and alot more.

  • @D0oD0oBrain Yes, the image of the Stratocaster is easily found in rock and roll. But that doesn't mean to me it's a rock n roll guitar.

  • @Evan42881 on many of the famous Zeppelin songs Jimmy Page was playing a Tele.

  • @postpeakman Yes but I believe after Zepppelin 1 he used a les paul with a telecaster switch.

  • i play with fender stratocaster and with gibson they are the best guitars ever

  • well i just got a strat with 2 humbuckers today suckers! it's a mexican baby and it has the best of both worlds. Booya!

  • they're outta tune buddy :(

  • i own a start which is kind of bluesish n from what i see it has alot of variety.the les paul foucuses on the 2 gold zones in depth n i also have a les paul. but it all depends on the style u like u can get any sound out of any guitar u jst need the right equipment. but i have to admit i love my start ALOT

  • there both ment for blues really

  • there both good but i think i like the strat better

  • Gibson better

  • gimmie thumbs thumbs to put twards a les paul

  • strat vs les paul=loss

strat + les paul = stratopaul = win

  • @mrIlovenigahiga Known as "Superstrats"

  • @mrIlovenigahiga haha imagine they somehow did that haha, it would be the perfect guitar :D

  • @mrIlovenigahiga People already do that. You get a Strat, and stick Les Paul parts on it. HSS HSH HH HHH

  • both are great guitars, they are just different flavors of tone.

  • pah. Rickenbacker!

  • Love both.

  • fender is more calm for calm styles! and that bitch gibson...she is like a bitch! just wanna screm auh auh auhh

  • @exhesham lol i do agree with you in some cases but jimi hendrix used a strat and he didn't play calmly lol he made the strat a bitch!

  • Les Paul sounds more rich in its depth of tone, and thats why to me its a winner. O yeah its fucking beautiful

  • hey need some ones reply....should i get a fender 1974 strat MIA or a gibson lespual standard..URGENT REPLY

  • @leesongxuan that depends on the price

  • I don't like how Fender got away from the big head stock, the little head stock just looks weird. I like the 60's/70's style big headstock on my stratocasters.

  • I'm surprised the Fender sounded better... ?!?!

  • there is one solution....prs ;)

  • Your Mexican strat is slightly out of tune and your frets buzz. Also why dont you try them out on a heavily distorted channel? How many people play just a clean channel all day long? Theres no way you can make a decent comparison until you do. Your Gibson is out of tune as well. It can be heard each time you hit a chord.

  • shoulda bought an american fender u cant compare a MIM strat to an american les paul

  • Do you ever play any chords? Jeez its all bloody solos....

  • first learn to play

  • first learn to play

  • I think both guitar have their own character, Fender with vintage single coil and Gibson with long sustain humbucker, Strat and Les Paul are the best

  • In my opinion, this is not a very good comparison in so many ways.

  • Led Zeppelin yeah!

  • In my opinion it all depends on the song, tho if I had to choose I would say nothing beats the warm noise of a nice telecaster or stratocaster. Gibson is still nice, but I would rather buy an Epi since I find almost no diffrence between epi and gibson unlike squier and fender

  • @tippy400 Are you talking about those bullets? Cause those things reek... but not all epis are similar in feel to gibsons... Ever played an lp special? Gross.

  • @Kingddd333 I've played an actual sg gibson, a les paul and a flying v, yes there nice, but honestly I still rather spend $500 on a sg epiphone then a few thousand oon a gibson sg. Its all opinion and mine is I rather a telecaster. Been playing for 8 years now :P Mostly bass now tho.

  • @tippy400 maybe theres not much difference because epiphone is MADE by gibson...

  • @GuitCrazy7 thats my point lol there cheaper, and since im a fender fan i rather but a real tele overa real sg

  • I have watched alot of these types of videos and gibson (SG and Les Paul) Just have so much more of a fuller sound than any fender guitar GIBSON WINS

  • The strat sounds killa .The paul also sounds good.Tasters choice i quess.Never had a paul.

  • The strat is holdin up.But the paul needs a amp adjustment....Not bad man.

  • this is like comparing a cat and a dog

  • @candianguy3 I own both...American standard strat..and Studio les paul....and love them both. But if i had to choose...id go with the strat...when I die I want to be buried with my strat...ill never part with it

  • Whether you prefer the Fender or Gibson in this case, is subjective. Depends on which you personally prefer, tone, playability, feeling, etc. Personally, I'd go for the Gibson, because I like that it's heavy, it has a better playability (IMO), and sounds better to me. A better Rock N' Roll guitar for me. Basically just feels and sounds better :) Then again, it's all up to the individual, I'm sure Fender is the best for some people too.

  • Gibsons are for Slash, Fenders are for Yngwie Malmsteen.

  • @mechaghostman2 ??? how about Gibson are for Page and Fender are for Clapton ?

  • @HolyGK

    That one works too. {:-)

  • i have an Ibanez SA20, and it soudns excatly like the Les Paul - The Strat has a brighter, sharper, crisper sound, but the Gibson, like my ibanez, is great for rock and metal :)

  • Gibson!!! I sold my stratocaster for a les paul and so glad I did I love it vingte slash gold top :)

  • The only thing I dont like is the plastic tuners on the gibson. But they both sound pretty good.

  • Gibson SG..

  • Strat has a bit more of a fight to pla it to get the rewards of the tone. Longer scale and string tension. Les Paul is like cadillac its smooth fast and slick with low profile fat frets and 24.75 scale less tension on the strings.

I don't know I like Jimi Hendrix's ballad tones. Wind Cries Mary, Castles made of sand etc. Voodoo.

Then for the Paul I think Jimmy Page but then again he used a fender tele on first album.

Toss up depends on the day.

  • is your name Nate?

  • gibson!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • you did not do the strat justice. Not through your playing, but that amps sounds awful.

  • you did not do the strat justice

  • I wish I knew how so many people can afford a Gibson.

  • @RocktronGamer Savin up

  • gibson are overpriced

  • @wombweasel222 so as American Fender.....both guitars we are basiclly paying for the American Labour

  • I really dig maple neck strats! Sexiest in town.

  • Sweet Guitats man! =D

  • My 1st choice guitar is an American made Fender Stratocaster. But I don't mind Les Pauls at all.

  • good work man!

  • a gibson is a musical tool, whereas a fender is a tool.

  • @TheShawster99

jimi hendrix, ritchie blackmore, david gilmour, stevie ray vaughan....and many more, played with a tool?

  • @OldManPoopOrgy Hah! I hear you, I'm actually saving for a decent Tube amp myself, maybe a Vox or a Fender.

  • well i think that both guitar are both very good! it depends on what you want to play ! for disortion gibson are the best but if you want to play slow melodic songs such as balands i think that strat are the best for these songs! ;)

  • @OldManPoopOrgy I played a <$200 fake SG model (not even a brand!) for 8 years and I just recently bought an american standard strat... I think I have you on that one :P how's your flying V?

  • Honestly, I really don't like the looks of a strat. I think when I see it it's like a ten year old boy's first guitar. Just personal preference xD But I adore the les paul. I have expensive taste xD

  • @sugarychocobot lol probably because most starter guitars are modeled after the strat haha

  • @RezCONNECTION Lol, probably. That or my dude friend's first guitar was a strat and it sounds horrible in his hands xD And I think he got it when he was 9/10

  • did anyone notice a bit of All Along the Watchtower at 3:59?? Great playing man

  • les paul is 72% better

  • @Guitar8870 lol

  • haha 3:00 black dog

  • nice playing. personally I prefer using Single Coils for clean and Humbuckers for distortion. Anybody else got an opinion as to what type they prefer for particular sounds?

  • cool cobain t shirt......cool playing....

  • Les Paul bigtime, looks way better and sounds way better.

  • you could at least tuned your guitar!

  • is that kurt kobain on the t shirt?...anyway i prefer gibson...

  • the les paul really sounds better to me

  • I have a Gibson and it wont stay in tune at all.

  • @TornDays1 stock Gibson tuners usually leave a lot to be desired

  • @TornDays1 really thats odd.. could be bad would, both mine never go out of tune

  • what is the first song you play with the strat

  • If u can play good, then u don`t have to care much about the guitar... i mean it has to be oke.. but when youre good a mexican strat is good enough

  • I like the sound Gibson makes more.....

  • @Streetking412 Make up your mind!

  • @Hellozan11 lol wtf??I only wanted the second one but it seems i could not eddit....i got the brands mudled in the first one xD

  • Comment removed

  • Gibson Les Paul all the way. Nice video, your really good at guitar.

  • its a bit hard to tell, but are you wearing a nirvana tshirt?

  • this does not do the les paul justice give that to me and ill be screaming some Skynyrd and then play some Zeppelin and ACDC but give me thestrat and ill be in Jimi Hendrix mode and Robin Trower and Pink Floyd.

Gibson has nicer guitars for the music i play i think, but for a medium quility Les Paul Standard you can get a high quality 70's reissue strat or relic strat. IMO both are great companies but both are for achieving completely fdifferent tones!

  • You can learn a few songs or a few tabs to make?

You can play guitar good: and beautiful guitars!

I have a Gibson Les Paul Custom Plus Vintage Sunburst.

  • nice video

  • very nice sound. ive been playing for more than 5 years, and you play as well if not better than myself.

  • the Gibson is better built, better sounding, and looks alot better.

  • 0:55 omg led zepp, yeah ;D

  • good playing

  • Both guitars are fucking awesome But them damn Gibson's Les Paul are expensive but beautiful. thus a poor boy like me will never own one but the Epiphone isn't a bad substitute thinking about getting a Epiphone they look like Gibsons if not better looking. not to mention cheaper.

  • That Strat has no sustain. Not a fair demo. You might as well not made this video or at least retitle it.

Once you put the Versus in there you have to be biased and fair.

  • Gibsons are gay.

  • @elitemathlete You are gay.

  • for my ears nothing sounds like a gibson lp, i like star and telecasters btw, but les paul man its something from another world, this is hust ny opinion.

  • I think comparing them is pointless, bro. They both have their own tone. Both sound good.

  • yep, led zeppelin all the way

  • i like les pauls more, but the strat is a beast guitar also

  • if you have no budget go for a paul reed smith guitar. they are very expensive but you can get the warm smooth gibson sound with the responce of a fender. personally i like gibson more than fender because thats my style, but prs is amazing, if you do get one make sure it isn't an se modle though. nice vid btw.

  • @christainguitarguy To be honest I disagree I just purchased an SE and while it isn't an actual true PRS they're are amazing affordable instruments.

  • @mcr07853 Lol ok, thnx for correcting me, English isn't my motherlanguage :D

  • Im Strat all the way my strat is the same exact color

  • I LOve LEs PAul, and I have the very same Les PAul traditional too~~~

  • Dude, you can't compare those two guitars.... It depends on the style of music you play, and your personal taste. :]

  • out of tune jam yesh!!!!???? it sounds cool though, Jimi was to stoned to tune his guitar on half his songs lol

  • @motlencore89 Yet still masterpieces!

  • no, man. if you want a real competition put the tele up against the les paul deluxe...

  • I hate how when you pluck the string on the strat the amp picks up a POP. On the gibson you mostly just hear the note.

  • Awesome vid man.

  • Thanks bro, great job. I have been looking for a while for somebody to give a decent enough comparison between the two guitars.

  • Gibson les paul mutch better tone stratocaster=clean

  • How long have you been playing? you play really good.

  • @heelmooiweervandaagL Thanks! When I made this video, I think it was a little under 3 years.

  • @FetusElitusInc You are playing only 3 years and you have both fender strat and gibson lp trad. I'm playing 5 and still trying to save enough money for a les paul. That's funny :)

  • The LP sounds like somethings chocking it.. Buy a U.S. Fender!

  • Zeppelin FTW!!!!!!!

  • what kind of amp are you using? you should get a more versital amp with better settings because whatever your using isnt doing work. mabe a line6? much respect for you anyway bro. good job n thumbs up=)

  • Les Paul!! Gotta have that dirty tone!!

  • The SG wins :)

  • both guitars are extremely cliche and overpriced for what you get. you pay 10% for quality and 90% for name.

i'll put a dean soltero against any les paul and an ibanez against a fender any day

  • both guitars need tuning

  • i prefer fender strat for more bright and clean sound

  • fender strat all the way no doubt about it

  • LP!!!!

  • now that you have those guitars, it's time for a new amp!

  • stratacaster is the better of the 2

  • @misterguitar360 well said, I have a les paul and It is great for the classic rock stuff my band plays and it also puts out a descent blues sound but for that authentic blues sound i would deffinately rather play on a fender.

  • you can't compare, the'yre completely different. it's one's own opinion.

  • I play both Fenders and Gibsons, I'm not bias to either one, I like them both.

  • i dont know wich is best 'cause les paul is'nt tuned!!!!

  • ahh dude u gotta tune up i hate playing my guitars out of tune it just bothers me
