  • Me....I loved how he kept going to his toy box then coming to you as if to convey "Hey....YOU...shaddup and lets have some fun !"

  • I think I am in love with the both of you :) Great work!

  • ?he's beautiful dude, what breed is he

and of corse - thanks, awesome video!

  • I love the psychology principles used in dog handling like positive reinforcement and association, keep up the good work man!.,

  • Border Collies aren't really dogs - they're people in fur suits. They are so easy to train and so intelligent it's scary.

  • Holy crap, he learned that fast.

  • What a beautiful dog! thanks for posting the video:-)

  • What a smart dog! Hes beautiful!!

  • by bsl i think he meant bull shit law

  • why arnt you telling him what trick to do

  • awesome video , but have u ever tryed to teach your dogs without a clicker?

i personaly find it more rewarding doing it the old fashioned way

  • Beautiful dog you've got here

  • lol

  • Thx for sharing :) FavD ;)

  • Faved, when i get my Border collie im going to use this method.

  • Hey thanks for the video man, your dog is a very smart doggy :D!

  • No, why do you ask?

  • By the way:

FreestyleNW, are you the dog trainer who can be seen in the video?

Max is clever! I liked the part when he offers some other tricks he has learned in former times in order to get the click. He is really cute.

  • Yep that's me.

  • My dog has learned many tricks with this clicker, but as fast he he learns new tricks, he realizes when I don't have any treats with me, so he quickly loses the interest in the noise of the click.

    My dog demands a payment;-)

  • There are a couple things to do in your case. First, once the behavior is learned, put him on a variable rate of reinforcement. So instead of getting a treat every time he does the trick, he gets one after two repetitions. Also you want to lose the treats once the behavior is learned. Try replacing the treats with a ball or favorite toy. Payment can be anything, praise, a thrown ball, etc.

  • thank you very much for this tip!

    In the case of my dog, I can imagine to give him a treat any scond time and so on, but if my dog sees a single chance to eat, he doesn't even know what a toy is... ;-}

  • After you replace the treats, do you still click?

  • Awesome!! :-D

this is exactly what I needed to see .. i just got a dobie, and he needs some serious training ;)

Thanks again, and I've subscribed to your channels - i look forward to watching all of your videos!

  • awesome training video! I just started clicker training my dog here in France. It's barely established (as far as I can tell) as a method here, which is amazing. I found one woman here in the South of France who teaches. Took a 3 day seminar and can't stop teaching my dog new stuff! Your video helped me to reinforce some basics and remind me of a few principles I forgot. The 'dropping of the lure and the food reward' is a great tip... thanks again!

  • Kas got that down in 2 sessions of 5 minutes each. And besides Max likes me more then you.

  • Wow!

    Nice

    Just curious

Have you ever worked with a "Pit"?

  • I haven't worked with a pit yet. Would love to though! I would imagine you could use tugging as a high value reward for most of them in training.

  • I`m sure that would do it.They love to tug.

There`s lots of great ones in rescue as I`m sure you know.

Lost my guy last Aug and they`re banned in Ontario,Canada but when we win(and we will!) in court,I`ll get another one.

I`m sure you`re aware of LawDogsUSA.

Ontario has one graduate,K9 Neville and we have another one going in January.

I donated his airfare in memory of my guy.

Watch for news of him.His name is Bandit.

We`re very proud of both of them!

  • I'm sorry for your loss. BSL is like dog racism.

  • Mine wasn`t lost to BSL,it was cancer.

    But thanks anyway.

All Ontario pups are either being slaughtered or sent to Research.

A few are making it out due to Rescue groups.

Check out Pixie on my site if you`re looking for a Pit to train.

I sponsor her. She`s apparently very high energy and she MUST leave Ontario!

  • awesome. thanx jake. i love max's tail.

  • Thanks Andrea. I'll be making the next video with Jada pretty soon.

  • sweet! i wanna see her wittle fluffy butt wag. lol.
