If you live in Britain or Ireland you may have heard about the psychic octopus that was touted as being able to predict the winning teams in world cup matches. Surely we have outgrown performing animals as entertainment? Look at Big Brother, American Pie films and hotdog eating contests shown on ESPN. There is little room for wit or sharp thinking on TV in Britain or the US and its not just America to blame.
