I went to Three Rivers in July of '99 for an Interleague game between the Indians and Buccos. Pittsburgh won, and I sweated like a hog on a very warm day.
Just before I finished school in Johnstown in June, 1971, I traveled by bus with a class group to Three Rivers Stadium to see the game between the Pirates and the Montreal Expos. The Bucs lost that game, but went on to win the World Series that season.
Now looking back, Three Rivers was a hideous stadium. It was an ugly hunk of concrete, but many great memories. If they did that today the riverlife task force would be up their ass like they are with the majestic star. Now we have two great looking stadiums.
I have been to Three Rivers Stadium to see the Pirates! I saw a Pirates game there in 1990 when I was at a conference in Pittsburgh. I remember they used to show a train with the Pirate on the Jumbotron(?)whenever the Pirates got a home run. Thanks for the memory!!
The main sponsor is the next stadium...ah, the irony...

my first pirate game was at three rivers against the twins in 2000. the pirates won and it was one of the last games :)

I went to three rivers in 1997 for a pirates game...we lost and teh escalators were broken but...at least i got to go the the stadium
