enjoyed the vid, steves a national living australian treasure, his prolific artistic contribution over the last 30 odd years is pretty much all quality, original and to be cherished.
Maybe your getting confused with communism or psuedo poitical systems like in Mao's China or present day Nth Korea where they completely idolise their "fearless leader" like some kind of demi-God....this is NOT socialism. BTW I'm not a socialist but I know history and how socialist ideas have made our political system better & fairer and made the FAT CATS and MEGA RICH more accountable for their actions.
Nonsense. If you describe force, you describe a form of socialism or totalitariansm. You just give those governments the label of "Capitalism" because you don't understand it. Contract law is all that is necessary. Universal healthcare doesn't exist- you can't guarantee a product the production of which you don't control What if no one wants to be a doctor? What will you do, clone them? "The poor people" could stop having babies all over the place, and then save or open a book.
We have subsidised/universal Healthcare here in Australia. My father had triple bypass surgery and didn't have to pay a single dollar....other members of my family have had minor procedures in major hospitals absolutely for free. All medications are subsidised and low cost. The reason this doesn't exist in America is because the healthcare system there is run and controlled by pharmaceutical industry in conjuction with health insurance companies & The AMA. They have a stranglehold on it.
"absolutely free"; must mean kangaroos are doing the work and inventing the medications in Australia. All that's required to fix the healthcare industry is to make it more capitalist- remove regulations that restrict competition between insurance companies and remove drug-prohibition laws of any kind- No adult consumer should require another human being's permission to purchase any drug. Again, only basic contract law is required. The costs would plummet and quality would rise.
Bono doesn't know anything about politics either. I was specifically referring to a blog of his in which he saw some slums in the US, and wrote "there's an obvious need for socialism", rather than being aware that socialism is the cause of all of these ills. Why is it every artist (except me) and a very few exceptions, has to jump on the socialism bandwagon? But I guess they are too "right brained" to be able to put two and two together. F'em.
All you need to know is that stealing is wrong. When you pont guns at people and take their stuff so you can give some crumbs to the "needy" (while keeping the bulk of the loot for yourself, of course) and then everyone pats themselves on the back and hands one another awards for being generous by sticking it to those evil "rich" people, then you have socialism. You'll never approach a 10th of what I know about all of it.
@brazenhubris That sounds like Capitalism to me.....especially American Imperialist Capitalism. Go and ask the poor people of Nicaragua , El Salvador , Chile and Bolivia and see what they think about it. Things like award wages , universal healthcare , unemployment benefits , good working conditions , workers rights , the 40hr work week , anti discrimation legislation , disability pensions etc... etc... are all socialist ideals.
The 40 hour work week? I've worked lots more than that, which is why I have a lot of money probably. Anti-discrimination laws are dumb. If people know you discriminate, they won't buy your products in a capitalist nation- takes care of itself. disability insurance is a product. Having the government steal on your behalf is not compassion, it just destroys opportunities for the poor to become more than poor. "our political system" is trillions of dollars in debt; glad I'm rich.
Why does the 40hr week HAVE to be about you. I'm making the point that before this law was legislated working conditions were incredibly harsh and exploitation was rampant. Children working in coal mines , poor underpaid workers having to work 100+ hrs per week etc....Why do u think American companies are all going to China while manufacturing is stagnant in The USA. Low wages , overheads , costs and profits are HUGE. An item that costs Walmart $4.00 to make in China is sold for $30.00 in USA.
If a child actor can make money, why can't a child work and make money in another industry? People don't understand earning money nor creating. They spend their lives "preparing" to do something in socialist education programs in the US on the public dime, and then expect the government to create a fantasy work life for them afterwards. That's why companies can't afford to manufacture in the US anymore. Reasonable contract law and labor laws aren't socialist, they're capitalist.
@brazenhubris that's moronic. Socialism does not cause slums. I'm guessing you're American (and a Republican) as the word 'Socialism' has become dumbed-down into a byword for anti-Capitalism/anti-American.
Slums are caused by the psychotic gamblers in the international casino we call the 'free market'. That's what has the world in the chaotic state it's in. I don't subscribe to any 'isms' but you're talking through your ass...

@brazenhubris 1.) I'm happy Steve stays away from politics. 2.) I'm guessing the comment was tongue-in-cheek, as is typical of him and what that comment suggests. 3.) If you think America is in any way a Socialist country (note: taxes and public benefits have long been part of every Capitalist society and do not equal Socialism, which is an entire socio-economic/political structure, one which the US does not in any way possess) then you're clearly the one who knows nothing about politics.
@Christobird A. He didn't stay away from politics. B. His comment was not tongue in cheeck, just not as well though-out as his music. C. Socialism is when the goverment points guns a people who earn stuff and give it to people who don't. D. I'm the greatest political mind on the planet. Watch the lecture from the wisest person on the planet on my channel brazenhubris; nobody is even close- have a nice day.
@brazenhubris No disrespect intended but...Kilbey...politics??? That would freaking ruin it! Please... I can't deal with hearing politics and Kilbey being mentioned in the same breath...sorry but to me that's like someone talking about taking a crap while I'm trying to eat. Peace.
Kilbey commented on politics in his blog- and he wrote about an "obvious need for socialism" in the USA. I wish it weren't true, but that is a fact. Few are bigger Kilbey fans than I, but I can't let that slide. Socialism is evil, and if it were allowed to spread there would be no more Kilbeys or much else of value. I just posted a 37 minute lecture of mine on these an other topics. I wish I weren't the wisest person on the planet sometimes, but reality is reality.
@brazenhubris That's too bad...but since he's such an extraordinary songwriter and I know those songs came from a place that has nothing to do with politics I'll forgive him. I'd check out your lecture if I knew where it was.
this is a great video. thanks for posting. I've noticed he likes to use a few major seventh chords like the fmajor 7 in under the milky way. kindof reminds me of the f major 7th in Major Tom. I really like listening to the church's old songs
remember these words,sk wrote them :" the mother of the storm has to roam the sky searching for her child..." just an example,a great example for sure, but only onee of them...
What a song! The words, the sound of the chords, Kilbey's voice...takes me away to a really beautiful place. 'Unearthed' is one of my favorite albums.

i never play the f-cord without the major 7.
1. it sounds better.
2. i'm too lazy to play a regular f.
songs like Lost and To be in your eyes, Sisters, After everything, Blessed one etc... are major 7- heavy. and that's a big part to why i love them.

F without major 7
You mean with the 1st string open in the Fmajor chord at the first fret
