"My Old Kentucky Home" is playing in the first couple of minutes. As a proud Kentuckian and great grandson of a hemp farmer, it saddens me that hemp is banned in my state. I would love to be a part of its return.
"But since many people still associate hemp with marijuana smoking, it begs the question will investors buy in?" Half of the populaiton of the United States smokes marijuana. Maybe that's what we need to do here, then, to get some legalization of industrial hemp? Just start saying marijuana and smoke? To make people support it? The U.S. is NOT a very free nation, regardless as to what they say. The DEA is criminal in regard to hemp. Even if 90% supported it here, they'd stil try to outlaw it.
@brianwesley28 one would think it would be simple enough to debunk the government BS. They outlaw pot as a schedule 1 drug, yet they own a patent on the medicinal benefits of marijuana (patent 6630507) The problem here is the lobbyists. Although I don't disagree with the ability to petition your government, the selfishness and effectiveness of lobbyists has reared it's ugly head.
I'd like to see Stevey Ray Harper turn his fat little nose up at this little doozy! Why shouldn't I grow a thousand of these great indian hempweeds in my yard? They're great!
Cannabis is a notch superior to hemp.
