  • What kind of gun is this? Is it a .22 rifle? If so , why does it seem so quiet and small

  • @zachcapp It's a .22lr. The camera I was using at the time was a piece of junk, and couldn't handle high volume, so it just dampens it, that's why it seemed so quiet. In reality, both of those rounds are just a little bit quieter than a regular high velocity .22lr round.

  • @zachcapp because it is a small cal

  • just to let yall know that the rat shot sucks balls.

  • @floridafv768 Sorry, but you're wrong.

It's perfect for it's intended purpose, killing rats/snakes.

I've used .22wmr ratshot to kill more than a couple snakes...

  • Wonder what these ratshot things would do to a person... Got any ballistics gel?

  • @killytbe6, nope, no ballistics gel.

I can tell you this though, even at point blank, it would not penetrate more than a couple inches. It would be very difficult to make this round lethal, maybe one of the larger caliper versions, such as 44 mag or .45acp.

As far as "what it would do", that depends on a lot of things. Depends where their hit, the distance, the caliper, whether its coming out of a rifled or smooth bore, and if it's a pistol or rifle firing it.

  • @nasonguy Don't you mean caliber.

  • @ironmonnkey15 Haha, yup, I did mean that.

  • Lemon tree very pretty and the lemon flower is sweet

but the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat.

  • @IrishLincoln I disagree, a good ripe lemon can be used for a lot.

You can make lemonade, use it to flavor lots of things like meringue, martinis, soda, pie, etc.

This lemon, on the other hand, was rotten. So it had to die.

  • @nasonguy Yes, rotten lemos must be "eliminated"

    watch?v=RGtx1gYOxYI Enjoy! ha

  • @IrishLincoln Hey man, Peter Paul and Mary weren't half bad!

  • @nasonguy I know. Excellent tunes to kill lemons to

  • i have that gun and love it. i disassemble it and keep it in my Bug out bag in the trunk great survival rifle and extremely compact when disassembled

  • @ArmedOkie Agreed, the youth version is very compact.

I took an old poker kit case and put egg crate foam in it, fits perfectly, and it's only about 18 inches long, 8 inches wide, and 3 inches thick.

  • WHY THE LEMON NOOO WHYCOULDENT IT BE THE APPLE :'(

  • @jimbobey9999 The story goes something like this:

My in laws have a lemon tree, and one day, we (my wife and I) got quite a bountiful harvest of lemons, we had made lemonade, and lemon meringue, and we still had lemons left over.

    Thus, I shot them.

  • i have the same gun for squirells

  • 1:02 That dog was pissed after he heard the shot...

  • @aspinall06 Yeah, my neighbors don't know how to keep their dogs quiet. Frankly, I'm surprised they stayed quiet for so long in the beginning of the video.

  • 2:00 WTF lemon splitted and blue jizz blown out?!

  • so i want a revolver to carry along with my 45 springfield xd, to shoot snakes should i come across them fishing or hiking. i would like something light and small. but i dont know what caliber to get. i dont want something that will ricochet back. but i want one that will have enough power to kill a snake in one shot. any suggestions?

  • @machetephil1 In all honesty? You won't like this answer, but a rock is best.

Seriously, I've used guns on snakes before, a HP .22lr to their head works just find, as does Rat Shot, 'specially .22mag rat shot, but nothing is quicker and easier than getting a nice big rock and smashing their heads with it.

I could see maybe if you live some where with no big rocks around, but that's a hard place to find, haha. In that case, .22lr is fine, no recoil, cheap, quieter than a 44/357, etc.

  • @machetephil1 U live in Australia and we have a load of snakes up my way. 410ga shotgun is great on snakes. Small, cheap, bought one to keep by the backdoor years ago and has killed many snakes in its time.

  • @MrMapex2010 I keep two guns by my backdoor now: an old bolt action mossberg in .22lr and a revolver in 22mag loaded up with ratshot. The Mossberg is for rabbits and the revolver is for snakes. The difference in ratshot from .22lr to .22mag is quite impressive. I have a feeling I need to make another video.

  • my ccl stinger 32 grain .22 could blow that lemon right up.

  • @naicam1 So could my 5.45x39, or my .22wmr, or my .17hmr, or my 7.62x54r, or my .357 magnum.

Point is, that ratshot or aguila stuff is quiet. Catch my drift?

  • your fruit killing skills ..... whatever

  • @The1Darknes2 Oh, believe me, my fruit killing skills are finely tuned. I'll video some other stuff and upload it.

  • Reason for these rounds is because when farmers see mice or birds in there barn they want to kill them without shooting through the roof or siding.

  • @Diehardstelers Exaclty.

  • They are so tiny! xD

You know, there's .22WMR ratshot. Make some rats explode lol.

  • @peepeevagi haha, yeah, I like my .22 mag.

  • Rat shot for a 22 the bigest waste of time ever. Use a air pistol if bullets of shotgun not practical

  • @jm357m Thats just like, your opinion, man.

  • 1000 FPS off that CB cap? Think again

  • @TheDailyToker916 Yeah man, that ain't no "CB cap". It's .22 short. Big difference. Read about it.

  • @nasonguy I am aware of the difference between a CB cap and a .22 short. I thought you said your aguila was a CB cap, but I rewatched and heard you say subsonic. My mistake.

  • @TheDailyToker916 Cool. I came off a bit harsh in my first reply, sorry about that.

  • dude, if ur that close to something, get u a bow!!! way more fun!

  • @lucasgardner99 Or I could use a 12ga.

  • Its # 12 bird shot

  • @lilwalkinglegs Yup.

  • imagine if you shoot the lemon and the lemon shot lemon juice into your eye in a last attempt of revenge

  • @JimBoopLoop I would curb stomp the thing if it did that...

  • @nasonguy haha

  • @JimBoopLoop

    Highdeas...

  • what type of gun is that?

  • @6creatureofthenight9 Dude, really? look like two comments down...

  • is that a rossi?

  • @dylan9436 Yup, 20/22. It's actually a "youth" sized gun, but that's why I got it, it lends itself perfectly to packing away tightly and taking camping/hiking. I don't feel undergunned with a .20ga, lol.

  • Maybe it will kill a rat hence the name "RAT SHOT"

  • @krew76 Yeah, I'm going to guess that it will kill a rat, or even a mouse.

  • when life gives you lemons, throw them at random people on the street while yelling, I LIKE POPTARTS!!!!!!!!!!

  • .410 works way better on snakes and lemons. Winchester .22 shotshells are better than CCI. and cheaper.

  • @easydoz1 heck of a lot louder though.

  • Hmm, the rat shot looks like a fun round.. my only concern is this: Would it damage the rifling in the barrel? go easy on the question trolls.

  • @MrFleet94 Haha, I don't have enough viewers to attract trolls.

To answer your question, yes. If you shoot it excessively. I've had the same box of 50 for like two years now, I'm not worried about my rifling.

Now if you shoot 200 rounds of this per month, then yeah, might not be that good...

  • the 60 grain subsonic u are using need more twist in the barrel than the standard 22lr 38-40grain in order to stabilize the heavier round. they are only woth using if you have this type of barrel with extra twist (1-16) i think?

  • 22 ratshot is basically miniature buckshot cartridges using #12 shot....I've seen it used on snakes, effective range is like 4 meters. Its a fun little cartridge but I dunno of a practical use for it.

  • are them meyer lemons?

  • @skateboy159 English please?

I actually don't know what kind they were, they came from a tree that my in-laws have.

  • is there a way..or is it possible to make those out of 7.62x39..

  • @petritnikqi I'm sure you could hand load some. How safe those would be, I don't know though.

No one makes on, that I know of. They all stick to pistol calibers, 22lr, 22mag, 9mm, 45acp, 44 mag, etc...

  • its called snake shot

  • @1107Patti Depends where you live, I was raised being told it was ratshot.

It's all the same stuff anyways, just #9 birdshot in a regular pistol cartridge.

  • @nasonguy 1107Patti, yea its all dialect, like kick or recoil.

  • @1107Patti Where i live its packaged and called Rat shot. Its been called Rat shot since WWII when fighter/bomber pilots were given rounds with bird shot to aid in hunting if they were shot down.

  • i like your gun i have a .410 .22 over under .410 shotgun at bottom .22 at top check out my videos and you can see it, its over 50 years old.

  • If you shoot a criminal in the face with this close range it will disable them no matter HOW big they are. If i owned a store id keep a .22 revolver with this stuff to take robbers down

  • @greatestsongsofLIFE thats a terrible idea... absolutely 110% terrible... when you have 9mm loads that perform just as good, some perform better than the best .45 loads, why would you keep .22 birdshot to take down any theif, it DOESNT have the penetration to do any damage, and if you shoot somebody you better kill them

  • @Sharingan221 A judge would't tell you that, would't agree. The problem is if you shoot anyone and not only don't stop the threat but only encourages him

  • @newhuskytwenty well a well trained individual (which if you have a weapon for self defense you BETTER be trained with it) will know to shoot for the thoracic cavity although a heart shot is not the best a person can only live up to 60 seconds (tops probably less) with his heart destroyed, or the "fatal T" (eyebrows down to upper lip) and rat shot would probably just encourage him as well, more so than a misplaced 147 JHP, take some self defense classes and you'll quickly learn (no offense)

  • @newhuskytwenty And your "Fatal T" shot is instant death, the "fatal T" actually 90% reaches the brain stem which when destroyed will instantly kill the individual, thats what snipers shoot for in hostage situations or situations where they really need to take somebody down NOW, other than that the thoracic cavity is much bigger and an easier shot making it prefered (in open situations)

  • Fucking lemons. Fuck lemons. Next time you should shoot those fucking lemons with a real shotgun, teach those lemons who's boss.

That Aguila shit is boss though, I've never seen a bullet actually ROT something. Fucking best.

  • @fondlist Haha, what you got against lemons?

Just for you though, next time I go out shooting, I will blow up a lemon with something good, maybe a 9mm HP.

  • @nasonguy

Fuck 9mm, get a fucking Desert Eagle. Fuck those lemons up.

  • @fondlist Did a lemon attack you when you were a baby or something? Haha, just messin' around man.

I got an idea, I've got some half pound bottles of tannerite, if you don't know what that is, I have a couple videos of it on my channel. Anyways, how about I put a lemon on top of one of these bottles and set it off? Will that satisfy your bloodlust for lemons?

  • @nasonguy

No, I just hate how arrogant, and self-absorbed those damn lemons are. "Oh, look at me, I'm a lemon; I'm sour, stupid, and neon-yellow, yet I'm still a popular fruit. Are you a popular fruit? Didn't think so."

Yes blow those fucking lemons up. If I had any money, I'd pay to you to make said video.

  • @fondlist Haha.

I'll make a video, for sure. I have to go to a special place to set off the tannerite, or the cops get angry at me, so it might be a bit, haha.

  • @fondlist

    Excellent... Excellent...

Take as long as you need, as long as it gets done, and filmed.

  • i got that same gun killed a hog with the 20.ga and the 22 is accurate

  • @xXALECXx1 Way to go man!

  • lol i have that gun, does it also switch to a .20 gauge?

  • @MrAnon95 Sure does. It makes a great camp gun. Although it resides in my trunk now...

  • What is the name of the gun? Also, do you think the ratshot to the face would be lethal, from say 10cm?

  • @zippotix It's a Rossi, 20/22. Rossi makes a lot of guns like this one, as well as revolvers.

I don't think it would be lethal, not in the .22lr caliber. It just doesn't have enough penetration. It would seriously injure some one though...

  • @nasonguy Thanks. Im not into guns, but I think this one is single shot, yes? Its made for plinking or something like that?

  • @zippotix It's a single shot break action with interchangeable barrels (if that means anything to you).

Mine was branded and sold as a "youth model", meaning that it is small and light. But it suits my purposes as a camping/hiking gun quite well given that it is so compact and light. You can easily remove the barrel and pack the two basic components (barrel, and receiver/stock) in any medium sized backpack.

  • @nasonguy It means that you can change barrel and shoot different type of ammunition? I also noticed many vids about mosin nagant, how do they shoot rifle that was made in circa 1900? Or are they some replicas?

  • @zippotix Yep, you can change it out with the barrels that are included. I tried to purchase a couple different ones from the factory directly, but they wouldn't sell them to me, they said they had to be custom fitted. So for example, mine only came with a .22lr barrel, and a smooth-bore 20ga shotgun barrel.

  • @zippotix Mosin Nagants are awesome, I have a 91/30. The story with those is the original design is from 1891, and they changed the layout a little bit every once in a while. Mine is the 1930 iteration of the rifle. Despite the little changes, they always retained the same caliber/action/receiver. Really they only changed the barrel legnth and little things like that.

  • @nasonguy Thanks for clearing this up for me :). You are very lucky to have so much rights in USA, I only have air-rifle (you probably wont believe, but I actually killed a wild boar with it :)). I never shot Mosin, but my grandpa told me theyre very accurate, and that it kicks quite much. Do you have any problems with getting ammo and spare parts for mosin?

  • @zippotix Air rifles can be very deadly man, good shooting!

Where do you come from? I'm in Arizona, one of the most unrestricted states for gun laws. We just passed a law that allows people to conceal carry a handgun without a permit.

Ammo is cheap, I just buy corrosive surplus ammo, the only thing is you have to clean it after every outing.

I don't worry about spare parts, if it ever breaks, I just go buy a new Mosin Nagant, they're only $100.

And yes, they do kick a good bit.

  • @nasonguy Hey man, sorry but I just noticed your comment :). After a year or so. I live in Poland, and gun laws are very strict here. I can own air rifle that does not exceed certain force (12ft/lbs or 17Joules), and black powder firearms that were designed before 1851 year. Its kinda ridiculous, but what can I do? Commies still active here, they just changed their names and political affiliation. The boar I shot was hit right between the eyes, I must say I was suprised that it killed him :P.

  • @zippotix So does that mean the black powder gun has to be made before 1851? Or just designed before then? Like, can you go buy a reproduction of a pre-1851 design?

  • @nasonguy Yes, such weapons must be designed, not manufactured, before 1851. Yes, you can buy pre 1851 weapon, without a licence, but you must be 18 years old at least. I wanted to buy such weapon, but theyre too impractical. I still evny Americans and their laws regarding guns :).

  • @zippotix I don't know man, black powder weapons are no joke. They can be very practical. Especially Black Powder Revolvers. A good bit of Cap and Ball revolvers were designed before 1851. Heck, I think the Colt Navy would be legal.

Black powder can pack a punch too.

  • @nasonguy You are right, I know they have good firepower, and will knock someone on his butt really quick. But what I ment is, you should keep your powder dry, or it will not fire reliably. Reloading takes ages, too. They also say that smoke after shooting such gun covers the target. Yes, colt navy and even walker are legal to buy without anything. Navy is in fact very popular among BP shooters. Do you think that BP revolver would be good for home defense, for example?

  • @zippotix Yeah, it does need to be dry. They are a little impractical for home defense, because to keep it reliable, you would have to reload all of the cylinders every day, which is kinda wasteful. But it's better than nothing, you know what I mean?

  • @nasonguy Yup, I know what you mean. It would be good for assassination maybe, when you know youre going to use it. I heared its fun to shoot BP guns, though. Do you have any experience with homemade BP guns? Like, pipe guns :)?

  • @zippotix BP is very fun to shoot, both muzzle loading/cap and ball, as well as black powder cartridges.

I have no experience with anything home made outside of making my own fireworks. I would be a little afraid to make a home made weapon, even if it was black powder, that could land some serious jail time here.

  • @nasonguy Yup, thats the thing, jail and possible injury. I know such "gun" could explode in hand, rip it off, and send some shrapnels to the face too.

  • @zippotix My Mosin Nagant, although it is the "1930" model, was manufactured in 1943, and it shoots beautifully. Kicks a little rough being that it is a relatively light gun with a high powered cartridge (comparable to the American 30.06), but nothing a nice recoil pad doesn't fix.

  • would rat shot kill a squirrel or a rabbit from maybe 50 yards?

  • @101popster 50 yards? no chance. this stuff is effective at 5 yards max...

  • @nasonguy ..so the maz effective range is maybe..20 ft?

  • @101popster If even that.

  • @nasonguy ..so the maz effective range is maybe..20 ft?

  • i shot an empty milk jug with ratshot from about 5 feet. The pellets dinged the jug up pretty good, but only about 3 penetrated the jug. The plastic cap on the other hand went though the jug and made a pretty good size hole. SO DO NOT SHOOT AT ANYONE THINK THAT IT'S NOT GOING TO HURT THEM IF YOU SHOOT FROM A LONG DISTANCE!!!! I say this because of redneck storys of people shooting friends in the jeans from long distances. This is a great round for shooting stray dogs or deer from a distance.

  • Yeah, I've done the same, with similar results. I had a bit more penetrate, but I was shooting it from a long barrelled rifle, meaning faster muzzle velocity.

  • Comment removed

  • WOW! YOU CAN HIT A LEMON FROM FOUR FEET AWAY?? *CLAP* *CLAP*

in case you dumbasses cant tell, this is sarcasm

  • Wow! You can mock some one over the internet!?!?

In case you can't tell, that was true sarcasm.

What's the matter? You don't have the balls to mock some one in real life? Is that why you save it for the internet? So I don't punch your lights out?

I can probably shoot way better than you as well.

How many guns do you own?

  • Chill man... don't feed the troll.

  • Haha, I don't normally feed trolls, but when it's on my video, sorry, some one's gunna get told...

  • Ratshot spreads a shitload, so its not really surprising that he's that close. Ratshot is like a .22 mixed with a shotgun shell, so you need to be close to hit stuff

  • I think I scared him away...

  • yeah i know, i was just pointing out, you need to be that close for ratshot to do anything useful

  • Can a Ruger 22/45 shoot rat shot?

  • Ruger Mk II's? They should be able to shoot it, it will definately fire, and the round should have enough energy to cycle the action.

    I haven't tried it as I don't own a Mk II.

BTW, those are sweet guns man, I've always wanted one and get all jealous when my friends go buy one, haha.

  • Yeah they're great.

  • can the rat shot ruin the rifling in the barrel?

  • read some of the other comments, there is some good input on this subject.

  • where did you get that stuff

  • thanks man, very helpful. now....to the gun shop1

  • How does the King snake kill the rattlers? Its interesting you said they are 'the kindest' snakes. How is that? Where are you?

  • I don't know how the kill the rattle snakes, I suspect that can be easily found on wikipedia though, haha.

I think they are the kindest simply from handling so many of them, I live in Southern AZ, and every summer we come in contact with dozens of snakes on our land, usually including a few rattlers. But mostly king snakes and garter snakes, as well as some racers, whip snakes, garter snakes, all kinds. King snakes tend to be the most docile, non-threatening, non-defensive snakes to hold.

  • King Snakes are completely immune to Rattler venom. So, they constrict, kill, and eat. :]

  • Nice, thanks for the info!

  • can a ruger 10/22 shoot ratshot rounds?

  • yeah, it will fire them, it may (very slim chance though) not cycle completely, thus requiring you to manually cycle the action every round, but that is not likely.

I say go buy some and try it!

  • Don't shoot snakes unless they are venomous..They are for the most part beneficial members of your micro environment.

  • yeah, no worries man, I only shoot rattle snakes. Even then, only when they venture on my land, it's not like I'll go hiking, see a rattler, and blow it away.

I love snakes, they are very awesome creatures. I have handled many snakes, including rattlers. We have lots of king snakes out here and they are some of the coolest, and often times, the kindest snakes around. Not to mention king snakes will actually hunt and eat rattlers...

  • Good video, these worked well against the pigeons in my attic.

  • how much do they cost?

  • If I remember right, about 13 dollars for 50 rounds. Really expensive for a .22 caliber round, but, to date, I've shot maybe half of them.

I bought them about two years ago.

  • wont the rat shot mess up the rifling inside the barrel...?

  • If you use it extensively, yes...

I've shot a total of about 30 rounds of ratshot through that barrel in the two years I've had it, and there is no visible wear.

  • @spritrocks it should not damage it because it is still made of lead.

  • actually, it will damage the barrel. There is a huge difference between one solid lead slug going down a barrel, and 100 tiny little lead balls, all moving and fluid in the barrel. It tends to wear down the rifling a heck of a lot faster than shooting normal bullets. You'd have to shoot A LOT to do that though. Like I said, to this day, I've only shot maybe 30 rounds of ratshot down that barrel.

  • The CCI ratshot will not damage your barrel, because the pellets are held togeather by the blue capsule, until they exit the barrel. The older "crimped" 22lr ratshot will damage the barrel however, because they arent held togeather by the capsule.

  • i have the rossi 22/410 combo. I used it earlier in the week to bag a rat in the garage with winchester rat shot. I was about 10 feet away when I got him and he dropped DRT when I hit him.

  • Nice!

  • hmmm. rat shot. very interesting

  • try the sss at 50 yards. I want to see if it tumbles.

  • Good thought, I'll have to try that next time, and film of course.... My guess is it wont since it's coming out of a rifled barrel, and since it's so long, both of those should really help it's stability.

But yeah, I'll try it in my little Rossi, and an old Mossberg hunting rifle I have (longer barrel, lower rifling (1:7).

    I'll keep you posted...

  • Aguila is Spanish for eagle just FYI nice demo

  • Thanks for the props!

And yeah, I speak a decent amount of spanish, grew up around it, my mom and her parents both speak fluently...

  • Lol i have that same gun. That was the first gun i ever bought. Happy shooting!

  • Yeah, this was my second gun, I love it, it's a trooper, it has never once failed me.

    Happy shooting to you also!

  • I've been shot with rat shot before, not fun. I looked up this video because I found a bunch of those (with the blue plastic(?) tips) lying around my room. And, yes, they will actually kill rats or maybe even small dogs.

  • Ouch man, that must have sucked big time. Glad your OK.

Yeah, I've killed snakes, wood rats, rabbits, etc with these rounds, very powerful...

  • Not as powerful as it should be, but it hurts having to pick those bb's out of your arm lol

  • dang, yeah, I'm sure that hurt, haha. I watched my brother wreck his dirtbike into a cactus once, I reckon that was similar having to pick all those stickers out...

  • Lol thank you for your concern haha. I believe every man deserves a gun for hunting, defense, etc. But you should have to pass a moron test or something and not have "physco" written all over your record :P

  • A moron test would be nice, haha.

Did you know here in Arizona, they actually have a "Stupid Motorists Law"? It's just a misdemeanor, but it can still net you up to a 500 buck fine or something, and a cop can hit you with if for doing something just plain old stupid in a vehicle, haha. I love Arizona some times...

  • you have a veiny arm.

  • Haha, yes I do.

It's from the beastly muscles that my heart has to feed with oxygen all the time...

Not really, I'm just skinny, lol...

  • Haha I thought as much :P

  • Huh?

  • have ever noticed the crack you hear after the bang ?thats the sound of the bullet cutting the air at the speed of sound. sub sonics dont create the cracking noise. sub sonics were developed for use with gun silencers. the perpose of these rounds this guy has is so his gun sounds like a fire cracker and not a gun, thus keeping the peace with his neighbors and the dick sucking authorities

  • I can't tell if that was directed towards me or some one else?

  • i was commenting on what skilo837 said

  • haha, ok.

  • subsonic my arse. that was loud as shit.

cci subsonic shorts are the best they sound like a bb gun.

  • They're subsonic buddy, trust me, they chrono at just about 950fps... That's below the speed of sound my friend, making them subsonic.

I got this other stuff that shoots about 400fps at the muzzle, now trust me, that is quiet, the only sound is literally the hammer striking the firing pin, and then the bullet hitting the target.

It's called Aguila Colibri. Check it out, try it, and enjoy...

  • i looked into it and it says there is no gun powder in the colibri it just uses the primer .

it cant be that powerfull without and powder could it?

do you think it could kill something medium sized like a dog?

  • Yeah, your right, they only use lots of primer compound.

I would not recommend trying to kill anything medium sized with ANY subsonic round, especially dogs, I wouldn't even use a rimfire (unless it was a .22mag or .17hmr)...

Those colibri's I have only have enough power to barely penetrate the skull of a rabbit, they don't exit out of the head, so it's OK if you have fantastic aim, but anything larger than a rabbit or mouse, I would not use it...
