This song is performed so fast! But the Balladeer pulls it off wonderfully. I'm not a singer, but I'd imagine the speed that they played this song at would make it much harder to perform.

The character kind of represents the "American Dream" (if you work real hard everything you want will come to you) so he's dressed as a very "American" ideal i.e. a cowboy. The Balladeer's songs are also very "folk" in nature so he's dressed like a folk singer might be dressed.
