But my theory on the voices is that a lot of musical actresses tend to have those brash, projecting sort of voices - Little Nell was sort of a random - she was mainly a dancer anyway. She sounded perfect for her part but she couldn't really sing as such. Still, it would not hurt to define Columbia's voice as high-pitched generally - it fits.

I went to see this show live at Drexel University a few years ago. Oddly enough, my older sister had friends in the cast, one of which played a phantom [or ensemble member]. We had only seen each other once. My sister really wanted me to meet him.I was sitting in the front row of the theater that night. And during "Time Warp" the cast went out into the audience and got up in their face. And at the "it's a family thrust"..guess, who was airhumping me in the face...Awkward!!

i couldn't agree more.. our production of this is probably better..but then again i'm pretty biased, obviously :P our leads don't show off their voices like in this one by holding the notes for ages, they sing it the way it's meant to be.. this is good though :)

You know I think it's a bit of a cop out to use the choreography from the movie for Time Warp. I know the movie is iconic and so is the dance, but I think that if you're going to do the stage show and not the movie with live actors acting it out, you should do something different for it.

I also think the phantoms should more imposing and creepy and not just crazy party guests from the 50s, but that's just me.

Now I just want to ask, was the decision for the phantoms costumes made so that they look like the ensemble's costumes in the movie? I mean, usually the phantoms are more I can't think of the word, but they are usually dressed differently, like more goth in some cases.

I'm doing a production right now as a phantom and I don't know what the costumes are, but they are probably going to have more of a goth like feel perhaps. That and phantoms get set loose on the audience before the show.

Just to remind some of you younger ones here, you're watching the RHPS as it was meant to be seen. The original creation was actually a huge stage production that goes back to the 60's. The movie was a representation of the stage production. So this is how it was meant to be seen. These kids are great BTW.
