You know I play guitar and I'am getting real advanced in it, but I never taught myself how to use that thing that look's like a plectrum, but is instead attached to your finger.

Can somebody please tell me the name of that thing, so I can go out and get one to learn with?

@WarriorOfTheHeavens Its called a Thumb Pick. You will find it difficult at first playing with a Thumb Pick because you will be so used to using just your thumb. Controlling bass notes over melody will be difficult for a while. Thumb picks are totally optional. Someone like Tommy Emmanuel is always using his thumb pick and then you have guys like Andy Mckee who just use their thumb. Personal Preference.

I like the flexibility of just my thumb personally but a thumb pick can have advantages.

@art11art12 keep in mind they have a few thousands invested in the guitars their playing. But the main thing is that the guitar's bodies are much larger, offering more resonance. Combine this with new strings, a room with perfect acoustics and proper mic-ing with a little bit of EQ and you can get the same sound. To get this sound live? You give up lol
