your the boss man, I've been looking everywhere for a server tutortial with dynamic dns. My only problem is that I dont think my dsl modem/router supports ddns. I set up with no-ip.com and whenever I enter the host.domain it bring me to my default gateway :(
@Equinoxx1337 lol!!! thanks from what i know about dyndns is that you can use the dyndns updater which can automatically change your ip every time it changes so you don't need to worry if your DSL/Router supports DynDNS. from no-ip.com i have no idea since i never tried it so i don't know what to tell you!! :)
@TheNerdAdventures Nah!! you dont need the dyndns thingy! because you have a static ip address since that does not change often then you don't really need "dyndns" at all. and by the way its a hostname not a domain name!!! domain name is the domain name inside your network!! don't confuse the two :)!!! hostname and domain name are two compeletly different things!!
@TheNerdAdventures In order for you to get a host name you need dyndns otherwise you can connect to your ftp server by using the static ip address. that's why the dyndns is optional but recommended its easier to remember pepito.dyndns.org then typing 98.78.512.215 and so on. For this project you don't need a domain controller what you are talking about is active directory and dns those are separate than dyndns and works entirely different!!

@MrBOSSLUIS Do i need to use the dyndns thing? because i have a static ip at my house, could i just give my mates that instead of a domain name?
